Breaking news from Berchest, where New Republic Peacekeepers have accosted civilians at gun point, and if reports are to be believed have tried to arrest them without any due cause. Sources on the scene had confirmed that the peacekeeper in question, operating outside New Republic space and with no official authority behind his actions, openly threatened a Hutt who we can confirm to be none other than Notorious Crime Lord Nor'baal Desilijic. The peacekeeper in question not only illegally confronted the Hutt Crime lord, but started spewing hateful rhetoric and seemed to indicate that the New Republic shared in his views.
"Shut up, slaver Hutt slime! I don't care if we have authority out here or not, you do not either, so this is a no man's land, and I think the New Republic would be happy to get rid of your fat ass."
A fight did break out between the squadron of peacekeepers and the Hutt's entourage, and multiple civilians lost their lives during the exchange. Coming in the wake of a New Republic Admiral venturing illegally into ISC space and threatening the peace between the two governments, one must question if these are indicators of a wide-spread issue within the Republic armed forces?
Does the Republic believe laws don't apply to them, that they can strong arm anyone into compliance? This reporter finds it highly concerning that at a time when the Galaxy is facing a crisis that concerns one and all, the Republic seems to be happy to let their dogs of war roam the Galaxy and do as they will. Is this a sign of New Republic indifference regarding Galactic laws, or incompetence in controlling their own?
