Open to all NR Senators
The old senate building was depressing to look upon for the Supreme Chancellor, built back when the Old Republic had ruled over over half the Galaxy, it was full to the brim with Senators, pods flying in all directions mimicking the Coruscant night sky. Now when the New Republic assembled, it was barely one third full, it had struggled since its formation to fill every pod. Since the departure of so many of their number to the Consortium, he was only a constant reminder of their failure as a Government to hold any meeting in that ancient place.
Alexander had moved their scheduled Senate meetings out of the large empty chamber and into a smaller one in the same building. What was once a meeting place for legal issues only, was now where every motion of the New Republic was deliberated upon and decided.
It has been a short while since Russan but Xerxes’ headache still continued, a pounding sensation greeted him every morning. The doctors had explained it was probably a concussion or something related to the injuries he took on the planet. The explosion had killed many that day, he was lucky to survive with only a lasting headache. Left Alexander turned to his left, just as his aide walked out from the side door, the man startled by the Supreme Chancellor's stare. “We are ready for you Sir.” The aide said, before walking back through the door he just came from.
Looking down at his hands, a small crackle of lightning danced between his finger tips. It was taking time to rebuild the walls around his Force Energy since Russan, it had been pent up for so long it was difficult to once again wall it away. Closing his palm into a fist, Alexander turned and strood through the door, his head high and chest puffed out.
The chamber ahead of him, even with its smaller size, was still not full to the brim. Some planets were not sending senators anymore, content with the peace he had brought them. To grow fat on their taxes and rates, whilst the rest of the Republic did the real work. However it was time to take those fat taxes and rates and put them to good use, for the Republic had become a target against a foe it was perhaps too weak to face right now.
Ever since he signed the peace deal with the Sith Empire, Alexander had looked for a reason to restructure and enlarge the military force of the Republic. But many fought back against it, confused as to why they should increase military spending whilst they were at peace. It was an understandable argument if not an infuriating one for the Supreme Chancellor. Luckily for him, this bang on the head had given him finally an excuse to get what he wanted.
