New, looking for RP opportunities

Hey all, I'm Nase and I recently became interested in writing Star Wars RP again. I've got a few years of experience and written everything from Black Sun to Imperial Knights to Scientists to Senators. I have a pretty good grasp on star wars lore and can post pretty consistently.

So yeah, i'm new and looking for a faction to join or a group to begin writing with. I'll also be taking suggestions for what class of character would best fit your faction and story and if it interests me then i'll base my character off what you need.

Nope! The factions are all fairly active. I'd say we could use more non-Force sensitives in the Empire, but there isn't a lot for them to do. The Cartel can always use mercenaries or people who are more business minded, but anything you want to do you'll find a place for, I promise.

edit: It probably seems like I'm super biased, but I help run the Sith and I used to help run the Cartel, so that probably explains it. The Rebellion and the Jedi are cool too, I guess, if you're into being a good guy.

Since you can have up to 6 chars, it's actually most advisable to take a faction you are most interested in and read up the stickys and whatnot about this.

I'm still really confused about the "rank" system in factions? I'm very interested in being an imperial soldier or pilot or something, maybe part of an elite squadron for a Sith or something… However, I would like to know an appropriate rank and what rank means. Is the idea that your character starts as like a new individual to his/her faction and works his/her way up from grunt to leader?

For the most part, yes. You start at the bottom and work your way up. It isn't especially hard to rank up as long as you're active with your character, so try not to get too discouraged by starting off as an Acolyte or a Recruit!

What if I want to be an independent operator? A writer for a planetary security force or independent organization that isn't a faction? Say I was really inspired to write for example a Royal guard for the Naboo Security force?

The imperial navy is probably the most under utilized part of the empire as a single tie fighter isnt to much of a threat. Were a single star destroyer can really ruin someone's day. Most naval characters acts as ageants. Now the IAF is utilized much more as everyone always needs fodder. :9: if you are interested in a imperial military character contact silver face or myself.

You are allowed to do this. I can't say there will be a ton of opportunities to get that type of character into the thick of the story very well, but you are allowed. Being independent from a faction also makes it difficult at times to find other characters who will fit into your rp. Many characters who are independent it seems find themselves often operating within either the Rebels or the Hutt Cartel from time to time.
