I would also call on all non-Republic and Border Alliance members to keep comments to a minimum. As this is our faction we may wish our dealings and nominations to run differently than your faction. If you are thinking of commenting, see if someone has commented a similar idea, if they have then like their status. If the admins see twenty people liking one post they can probably sort through that easier than three pages of comments that are similar yet different.

Just commenting on this one part for the moment; considering that there are a few of us who want the Republic as a faction get up and running because it can help out our faction and also because we just genuinely want to see things get up and moving and working for the site story, and also because of the fact that - even though we might be in different factions - we're all in this together, calling on us to keep comments to a minimum (as in, constructive and useful comments) simply because we're not in the faction is a bit counter-productive, especially given the perceived lack of activity in the republic and BA lately, anyways. Everybody reiterating the same comment multiple times over is one thing, but asking people to basically stay out of the discussion because they aren't part of the faction is a bit pointlessly alienating to people who might actually want to help.

I know we all want to have a say, and maybe so that we can all say "me" and have our buddies support that. But over my last month or so being active again I've seen a lot of changes that have come from this new timeline. The Tech, the Story, the RPing, and most importantly in this case, the factions are all handled very differently, with what looks like little leeway for change. So I suggest that the admins come together and choose someone they believe able to push forward that vision. I personally am not fond of many of the new changes and know that there are plenty of members with similar feelings. I would hate to have someone like myself put in charge because of a popular vote. They would run the faction into the ground because they don't have the same vision as the rest of the administrators and FLs.

I just want to say *slow clap* because this is seriously one of the most level-headed things I've read on the site in a long time.

First we need to figure out how the FL should be chosen. Let's keep the focus on that. If this thread just ends up being non-serious posts (as some of the above have been) or self-nominations then the staff is just going to choose.

You're right Brandon, sorry to push ahead. Only meant to be helpful. I agree with the above mentioned comments, where a hybrid between a public election and admin involvement should be implemented. Not much else for me to add at this time. :)

(i skimmed the thread since i can barely focus on reading right now) i really do think the admins should choose just since they would be able to have someone on board who has their same vision for the sites direction. since theres not really an obvious choice around here, and the admins would probably know best who could spark some life back into this faction since ive been wanting to desperately get some more votes and action going (i had no ideas so i couldnt have helped).

Personally, i think a group of reliable and dependable rpers should be chosen by the administration team....

.. then the people who are tied and the group can't decide on both present their cases to the staff and the staff make a choice just to end the tie.

Perhaps the admins could either pick some candidates and leave everyone to decide or viceversa? A combination of both does sound like a good option, especially considering who and how many people are in the Republic.

I know I'm not in the faction, but if I can input my two cents: this sounds like a pretty good idea. It balances writer/admin input. As someone who was involved in an election style FL selection last TL I know it can be a little weird if the faction doesn't have very good activity because you get a bunch of people voting who really never write for the faction. However, I also am not a huge fan of just having the admins choose someone without any faction input (which based on what @Brandon Rhea said earlier, I get the impression that's not what the admins want either). So, I guess I would say that what Reya seems like it might be the best option

Hey guys, well first things first, we set up a nomination thread and my Senator was nominated unopposed, so I will handle the Senate.

I'll also, if you are all willing step up to the plate to handle the Republic as FL. I have quite a few ideas that I think can generate activity, the first among them will be simple, the Senate doesn't have activity, I'm not sure if people are just busy with RL, or they lost interest. I will go and create topics for the committees to discuss ASAP if I'm appointed as AFL or FL of the Senate.

PM me or hit me up on Skype and I'll do my best to answer questions and all that.
