I thought this was interesting. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=106918289

Seems that several rabbis, state legislators, two mayors, and other important figures have been running a money laundering racket. I wonder how much cash was laundered......:CAbove:

EDIT: Three N.J. Mayors. Damn.

It isn't really news, NJ is corrupt to the core. They busted 15 mayors in my county last year including the mayor of my town.

I've never seen a corruption scandal this deep in Atlanta so it was surprising to me.

Bac, how could you let that happen? When you become Governor, you're gonna have a lot to do...

Well for starters, if I get my hands on this state, everybody's fired.

Well for starters, if I get my hands on this state, everybody's fired.

If you were to ever get that far, your hands would be tied so far behind your back, you could maybe fire one or two... ...but you could not fire the whole lot for fear of a backlash. It's simple politics. No matter what you do, or where you are, if you get that deep into politics, somewhere, somehow, you will owe someone something. Someone owns you, and you're not going to be able to do much if they don't give you the go-ahead.

Of course, I have absolutely no faith in the government or anyone involved in it - partly for that simple matter.

I can't really be all that surprised if I see 'corruption scandal' next to any state, county, or mayor's name anymore. Every facet of American government is so corrupt that it's appalling, and the American people are so disturbingly silent about it that it's sickening. Was anyone really gasping in surprise when they heard about this? Hell, considering current trends and culture, did anyone even care?

And that matters to me? No. The worst they can do is not support me for re-election. Big deal. If I can do what needs to be done in four years and things get fixed up, even if I lose it doesn't mean it's the end of my political career.

Honestly I would support Bac for a govenor run. We could use a guy like him to clean up this corrupt state.

It matters more than you would think it does without ever getting into it; and once you get into a position of power, there's any number of ways anyone else involved could put you in a bind if you piss them off - for example, by firing a few other government employees.

And good luck changing anything in a four year term. I'm sure you're educated enough about the workings of government to understand that, by now, any real change that doesn't fit with the ideals of your superiors/supporters/colleagues/etc. is impossible. It's easy to think and wish about having power in the government, but once you get to that point, it's a different story.

Bah. I'll quit rambling before I make this anymore off-topic. It's not like some random guy on the internet is going to change your mind. You can see for yourself if you really want to. :CHappy:
