Ok everyone, I have a spot about to open for a new character and I was looking for feedback from the community because I'm stuck between two potential candidates.

Candidate #1: Kane De'Lanfant - “Don’t believe in mystics! Don’t look to them for salvation! It’s the common man, soldiers like me and you that make the real differences! Hold your weapons high!”

A rebel cell leader taking the fight to the Imperium from the shadows. Extremely charismatic, he has drawn a large number of former GA personnel and freedom fighters to his group. He is different from other rebel leaders as he hates the Jedi, Sith, and the Force in general. He views the Jedi as cowards who fled instead of fighting on Coruscant. He was just a child when he saw his homeworld burn and the flames combined with the Jedi's retreat is now forever in his mind. His men are fanatics that believe what he believes, that they no longer need the Jedi to build a strong republic, and are known as the Sons of Coruscant. His rebel cell is also considered a kind of cult, even by the other rebel cells but no one can dispute his group's effectiveness in guerilla warfare against the Imperium.

Candidate #2: Edge - "I wouldn't recommend drugs, alcohol, violence, sex, or insanity for everyone but they've always worked for me."

One of the galaxy's most wanted. Edge is an unparalleled assassin, thief, and saboteur. Enhanced cybernetically, synthetically, and genetically he is the product of a rogue GA R&D weapons program. He remembers nothing before becoming what he is now. He is credited with nearly two hundred murders/assassinations and some of his major crimes involve the theft of an experimental military fighter, the destruction of a merchant space station, setting off devastating explosives on Corellia, and vandalism. By vandalism I mean he crashed a space station into the planet of Toola and created a massive crater. The Whipids call that vandalism. He has never been caught, at least he has never been caught and those that caught him have lived. He carries only one weapon; a type of sword or vibroblade. This blade, however, seems to be a prototype he must have stolen as it is capable of slicing through Durasteel like butter. The Alliance wants him dead or alive, the Imperium wants to capture him, and even CorSec hunts the stars for him.

I'm for the rebel too, perfect character for the skip. The cyber guy just seems a bit over the top.

Lol considering this is Star Wars, I find a cyborg assassin less over the top than some of the other things you will read about on the site. But of course I'm just saying, I'm still just listening to community feedback for now. But Kane seems to be the favorite at the moment.

I've always felt jedi-spam and sith-spam ruin SW rp, and there's too much crime-oriented rp as it is. Need something else, so I vote for the rebel.

Well, Jedi Sith and Criminals dominate SW :D

Only since the prequels, prior to that it was rebels, imps, and criminals. Forcers were never suppose to be these super soldiers running around screaming attention like children as they demand to be in the spotlight of every single story. The originals were about Luke but also about everyone around him, prequels and everything since are just "jedi this, jedi that". SW galaxy is at it's best when forcers are rare and mysterious, sadly too few people want to rp the SW universe, they just wanna rp forcers. Not that I don't like rping forcers, but balance in all things.

However, with the Jedi and the Sith wars practically ruling the two biggest factions......

All the more reason to create a major galactic empire that serves neither the jedi nor the sith.

That is entirely possible, but would take an aweful lot of time, and require the support of other players. You would need money, trillions of credits.

How do you intend to garner such support?

Well, it depends. Something people ignore is the millions of small governments in the SW galaxy. Every planet has some form of government in place. They don't all answer directly to the big powers. Planets in the republic still hold planet, or even nation-level governments, same way states in America work. Even in the empire planets still had their own governments, they were just controlled by imperial guys. I've heard the southern part of the galaxy will be left uncontrolled in the timeskip, so all those systems, all those planets will all have their own governments. Some planets will have various nations as we do in real life. Some planets will be a single unified entity. Some governments would span many systems. You don't start from scratch, that's silly. No one man ever built an empire. You start with a foundation. You use a government already in place, you garner their support, you become their leader, and you grow from there. It's not like you and your two friends go out and buy a fleet or something.

Becoming the leader of an entire government would take time, as would pursuading other governments to join you. Furthermore, you would probably need to engage in crime, as outer rim planets often need to listen to local crime familys.

It would take time, yes, all things take time. But time is the only requirement. Also it depends on the outer-rim planet, only some have crime like Tatooine. Others are perfectly fine societies like Sluis Van. Crime is only a major galactic contender when the Hutts get their empire. Most a proper government would have to deal with crime is for smuggling.
