Whoah. I was listening to pandora and this 30 second message comes across, sounds like a robot talking. I tab over to pandora to see wtf's going on, and I see this!

Warning: This could be graphic, and this is just the PBS discussion. If you see the commercial itself, make sure you aren't eating food, you may gag.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOPYoalGL9k

Apparently the gas bags at the CDC are not only imposing upon me graphic imagery I would otherwise have to give my consent to watch, but they're blowing $54 million dollars on this? Whoever's running this damned department needs to be sacked, at a time of budget cuts this shit shouldn't be being developed, much less forced down my throat as I watch television or pandora. I'm not a smoker, I've never even become tempted by it, why should I put up with this crap??

Now, I, a non-smoker, am disturbed by images of some ghoul with a hole in her throat pleading with other imbeciles to stop doing things adversely impacting their life. It's adversely impact me psychologically, at least on TV I can change the channel, but on pandora wtf am I sposed to do? Jam the mute button.

And they still don't have a zombie contingency plan.

I have it. My geography department has a map of a "Zombie Safety Zones" for my region. We have all the tool stores and gun stores mapped, as well as population density and prison locations, as well malls are mapped because we all know those are the go-to places for safety during a zombie apocalypse.

Be jealous.

...

Anyways.

It is a tad graphic. I've seen worse, but I wouldn't want to see this popping up all the time.

Not necessarily, malls can either be a blessing or a curse, unless someone blocks that one off right away you're pretty boned, you could spend days clearing out a mall and still get bit by a single walker that was hidden. Typically you want low density areas, rural areas are good, the first few months will be bad if it's a type four apocalypse. But after that they'll begin to disperse and they'll be in smaller groups. But I digress.

My perfect plan involves a helicopter and going to the arctic. Gotta love corpsicles.

Pay for the $12.00 a year option. It is so worth it as it cuts the commercials (ugh, I abhor commercials with a passion), and you get unlimited music for a whole year.

My mom's been smoking for over 30 years, and I really don't see any signs of her being sick with lung cancer or anything.

Now, I will never smoke, because I see what it does to our family financially. If they'd just say how much money you waste just as much as how much it hurts you, then I can guarantee it will slow down even faster.

Hah my neighbor named Buddy quit smoking and bought a cruise to the Bahamas for him and his wife with the money he saved. Financially yes, a pack a day smoker blows through a lot of money. My dad tried quitting chew with the same principle, but that failed because it's pretty difficult to go through a whole can of skoal in a day, and so the financial bonuses didn't seem as high.

In Canada we have smoking warnings on the top front flap of cigarette packages, and that's it. The only smoking commercials I see are little payed-for commercials run by various provinces. For example, in British Columbia (where I live), in my municipality we have this 'second hand smoke is dangerous to children and other people' etc. It's not graphic, it's just informative.

I don't know a lot about the State's laws and such, but them showing you guys images and commercials like that without your consent sounds like a violation of freedom of speech.

Filthy habit. Government should be try-hards in the opposite direction. Make hilariously dorky pro-smoking commercials.

Dad smokes, tried to stop but it didn't work too well. I worry for him as a non smoker and am wary of the second hand smoke.

I also can't seem to watch my "You Know What's Bullshit?" series without one of those creepy ads appearing. A 15-30 second ad pearing before a video most of the time only a minute or less. That's Bullshit right there.

We have no adverts for cigs over here.

None anywhere and all Cig packs have a warning on them with graphic pictures along with them going up in price in the recent budget.

Thing that annoys me is it costs the NHS billions because of people dying through smoke related diseases so it's fully justified.

That is pretty graphic, but if you perceive the message as being delivered not for non-smokers but for smokers (keeping in mind that addictions are not to be underestimated) then I think it's an effective message. Non-smokers may be taken aback, but many of them have friends and family who are smokers, and they might use such a video for convincing. In short, any non-smoker who gags at this video is irrelevant toward the mass of smokers that might see this advert and suddenly have newfound strength to quit smoking. Who knows?

I used to smoke six a day. Now I'm down to two a day if anything at all. Usually just smoke at parties and stuff. When I saw this video, it didn't give me newfound strength (I was never really addicted), but it did nonetheless emphasize the reminder of why it is bad to smoke.

It's fully justified even without a NHS system. One way or another there are going to be a lot of people without health insurance in the broken American health care system, so the taxpayer is going to have to pick up the tab on them.

In the UK we had warnings on all cigarette packages in big bold letters. "SMOKING CAUSES CANCER" and so on. My favourite, which I only ever saw once, was "WARNING: SMOKING CAUSES IMPOTENCE."

I think it is justified, because it does cause a lot of problems health wise. I think it is peoples responsibility to let other people know about the risks they take when they smoke that crap, and how it can effect the people they're around. The same goes for alcohol, and any other drug.

Honestly, just take up occasionally smoking Marijuana. It has less effects on your lungs, bros.

Yeah!

Then a pic of a *** that is drooping down.

Most amusing.
