So, I have a smuggler character (The pretty guy down below, with the name in brown). But a smuggler isn't really such unless he's smuggling something, and while the one thread I've got him in at the time of this posting has him transporting a would-be-padawan, I have grander plans for him.
I want to help make a ship.
Not build an existing ship, nor work up a design for one out-of-character and deploy it. My plan for Gerart is that he is secretly transporting, piece by piece, components that will eventually be assembled into an entirely new type of starfighter. However, for this plan to work properly, I'd need a few things.
Firstly, an organization or aspect of the Rebel Alliance to be funding the whole endeavor. He's doing this for the Rebellion specifically, so the credits need to come from them or a group that is a front for them. This also lets me work out how many credits he's getting for each delivery with another person, ideally one who knows how such things usually go on the forum.
Secondly, people for him to report to as to which pieces he's procuring next, and where/ to whom they are to be delivered. This can be folded into the group putting up the credits for the whole thing, but making it separate lets more people be involved.
Thirdly, someone to be behind, or associated with the people behind conceiving the starfighter design and assembling it. I am undecided so far whether or not I will end up making the character who came up with the design, but even if I do that leaves the need for a group that can put the darn thing together. Groups with a heavy focus on starfighter missions would obviously be best.
Fourth and finally, a group to be responsible for producing and flying the design once it's complete. While Gerart can pilot starfighters, one man does not an effective force make (usually). This could fold together with the group from three.
I have the ship design and specifications near-wholly worked out (along with the basic cover for how some of them at least are being transported), though I've not yet put it into the proper format for the forum. And I'm sure it will have to pass judgment in the Unapproved Tech thread once it *is* complete. But that's yet another thing where another set of eyes or two can help.
So respond if interested, and if you can fulfill the criteria above! I think this could be really neat if we can pull the whole thing off.
