This post is here to gather all technology relating to the Nav'ir species both generic and tech board approved for the convenience of anyone wanting to play as a Nav'ir or take influence from their culture for a character.

All generic technology will be posted in the first comment of this thread, and all technology board approved pieces in the second comment. I would strongly prefer that no one comments on this thread aside from me, and any questions or concerns can be PM'd or done through profile status.

For those who don't even know what a Nav'ir is, here is a link to their species profile.

Nav'ir Folding Sword

Description:

This sword is one primarily used by the Nav'ir people both because of tradition as well as convenience. The basic design of the weapon was made early on in their fight against their invaders, and was used by nearly all military personnel during that time. The sword is very simple, a double edged blade with a hinge at the end and locking mechanism built into the handle. One press of the outlined black button at the top of the hilt will release the lock and propel the secondary blade forward and out. Once extended the secondary blade locks again, turning the double edged short sword into a single edged longsword. This mechanic was utilized by the Nav'ir in combat in order to gain reach and potentially throw their opposition off focus.

Intent: Since the Nav'ir species is often known for their preference to melee and/or close range combat, I thought I would give them a sword to use for just that. This is one of many traditional weapons for the species that I'm writing to expand upon their culture and flesh out their traditional way of fighting. I thought a compact sword would be a good place to start given that as stated in the species profile they tend to like stealth and close quarters when attacking.

Nav'ir Tott Knife

Description:

This small knife would be a favorite among some Nav'ir, mainly used by the military but also used by civilians that wanted to protect themselves in everyday situations or use them as tools. Nav'ir tott or "fang" knives come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but the primarily dominant variant seen would be the hooked blade. These knives are meant to be held with the index finger through the bottom loop with the blade facing forward coming out from the bottom of the fist. The finger ring allows for the user to have a steady grip on the weapon and prevents them from being disarmed, while also offering several different striking methods. Both edges of the blade are sharpened. The weapon is mainly meant to be used in a slashing or hooking motion, mixing in hand-to-hand combat training while using the blade to help control the opponent or quickly cut tendons, bone or flesh. Alternatively, they can be used as thrown weapons.

Intent: I thought giving the Nav'ir a good option to use in stealth or nose-to-nose combat was a nice idea. Due to the species, as stated before, having a preference to close up fighting them having a knife was kind of a no-brainer for me. I specifically wrote and used Karambits as a frame of reference because they aren't the "stabby-stab" usual knife but rather knives used in conjunction with Indonesian, Filipino, and Malay martial arts which i felt better fit with the Nav'ir way of fighting, using a weapon to amplify your own threat level while not solely relying on it in a fight.
