DESCRIPTION​

The N-47 personnel speeder is an armored, troop-carrying repulsorcraft manufactured by OpTek, a minor manufacturer of tactical equipment, including light vehicles. It is one of the company's more popular offerings, and the single largest physical object in their catalog.

The N-47 is simple in construction, consisting of a standard repulsortruck chassis with an armored body. The speeder's durasteel and transparisteel panels are designed to resist most small arms fire, including blaster rifles and light blaster cannons; they can be penetrated by heavier weapons, of course. The N-47 has a crew of 3, including a driver, a gunner and a commander, and can accommodate 12 passengers and all their gear, these passengers typically being soldiers or riot police. It can also carry up to 2 tons of cargo. Crew, cargo and passengers can embark or disembark through a drop-down rear hatch.

The N-47 is armed with a roof-mounted repeating blaster turret, although some law enforcement versions may substitute a heavy stun cannon for non-lethal crowd control. The vehicle also mounts a grenade discharger, which in military service is typically loaded with concussion grenades or thermal detonators, but in police service tends to fire flash, gas or stun grenades.

In terms of performance, the N-47 can reach speeds of up to 220 kph, and has decent agility for a vehicle its size. It is often incorrectly referred to as a tank, especially by rioters.

The N-47 is a popular, well made vehicle, and can be found in service with planetary defense forces and law enforcement agencies across the Galaxy.
