Hello, folks. As I understand it, there will be a part of the tech thread reserved for generic creations in The First Sith, but this will be my "work thread" for toying with tech concepts that aren't quite ready for prime-time. None of what I post here should be considered ready for general use.
That said, enjoy the show!

Durasteel and transparisteel.

DIMENSIONS
Length - 20 meters.
Width - 25 meters.

CREW
1 pilot (required), 1 copilot (optional).

PASSENGER CAPACITY
1.

CARGO CAPACITY
3 standard tons.

HANGAR CAPACITY
N/A.

CONSUMABLES
2 standard weeks.

  • 3 survival capsules.
  • Class 6 hyperdrive.
  • Civil-grade deflector screens.

DESCRIPTION
The BAS-9 Ibbot-class pinnace is a class of light multi-role spacecraft produced by Barancar Action Systems of the planet Barancar. Falling nominally under the pinnace classification, the Ibbot is capable of maneuverability similar to a dedicated starfighter, but also possesses a hyperdrive, room for a copilot and passenger, and the ability to carry up to 3 standard tons of cargo.
The ship's interior is regarded as cramped, but practical. Cargo loading is accomplished through a clam-shell door adjacent the center-line, with the cargo bay taking up most of the starboard (right) side of the main fuselage. The port (left) side is reserved for fuel stores, weapons and sensors. Crew accommodations - bunks, compact galley, refresher - are located in the starboard "wing" section; the primary and "buried" secondary cockpits - for the pilot and copilot, respectively - are located in the port wing, as is the ship's docking ring. The Ibbot's engineering spaces are located astern.
The Ibbot compensates for its positives with several negatives; a lack of heavy armament - only a single forward-firing triple blaster - plus a top acceleration of only 75 MGLT, more in the realm of a bomber than a fighter. Also, although it does possess a hyperdrive, the ship's navicomputer is meant to be operated by a copilot; it is possible to to run the navicomputer with only a single pilot, but this requires the use of the autopilot to fly the ship while the pilot juggles two different crew positions, and is thus awkward at the best of times and nearly impossible in combat without modifications. The ship's engineering spaces are also cramped and awkward for most humanoids.
Nevertheless, for many pilots of this type of ship, the benefits of the design outweigh the drawbacks. Relatively small, nimble and affordable, the type is popular with couriers, scouts, and bright-eyed adolescents with dreams of being snubfighter jockeys. It is often cited as the space-going equivalent of a performance pickup speeder.
Ibbots have become a relatively common sight in spaceports across the Galaxy, particularly in the Outer Rim. Of note, customized examples of this type have become the mounts of many Ossein pilots.

LEGALITY
Ibbot-class ships are relatively easy to acquire and certify in most civilized systems, owing to their small size and light armament. They seldom draw more than a cursory look from authorities.

INTENT
To create a standard class of pinnace for use by anyone.

EQUIPMENT
  • Extendable docking tube.
  • Class 10 hyperdrive.

DESCRIPTION
The Kolier-class drone barges are a class of automated bulk freighter built by the Consolidated Hulls Corporation of Corellia. Based on the recycled hull-form of an obsolete corvette, the Kolier was the design which likely saved CHC from bankruptcy over the course of the Hundred-Year Darkness, taking up otherwise slack production capacity after the bottom fell out of the warship market, and selling well enough to turn a modest profit.

Consolidated Hulls Co. was and is primarily a subcontractor to more specialized shipyards. Their role is to build empty hull-forms, supplying them for fitting out by their customers. The story goes that one day, a major customer of CHC's went belly-up in the middle of a particularly large commission, leaving Consolidated with a yard full of 75% complete stock and no buyer in sight.
CHC initially tried to sell the unclaimed hulls to other shipyards, but could find no buyers for military equipment. At a loss as to what to do, management began looking into unconventional ways to shift the product, and hit upon an idea.
Up to that point, CHC had little to no experience building complete vessels. However, their yards theoretically had the capacity to complete the empty hulls' fitting out, and so the company decided to finish the production run as improvised bulk freighters; as commercial vessels, it was expected that they would be easier to shift than the corvettes they had been intended to be. In order to save time and resources - and to avoid a lengthy, expensive certification process required by the Bureau of Ships and Services - it was decided that crew facilities would be left out, and that the ships would be finished as drone barges.
The first 200 Kolier-class barges - built directly on the existing corvette hulls from the dropped contract - were completed in record time, and put up for sale with armor plating still in place and crudely welded-over viewports. Despite the slumping Galactic shipping market, they were quickly sold to a number of fleet operators, who reported good value for money. The popularity of the initial 200 vessels prompted CHC to begin serial production using purpose-built hulls, and although these had no trace of their military origins aside from their profile, they still sold well. Their success allowed CHC to survive the worst of the Hundred-Year Darkness, and the type continues to be manufactured to this day.

Kolier-class barges are a common sight across the Galaxy, primarily along well established hyperlanes. They tend to operate along routes where they are unlikely to encounter unforeseen hazards, which can confuse their simplistic droid brains, which aside from basic piloting systems are similar in design and cognitive sophistication to binary loadlifters. These brains can accept course instructions, calculate simple hyperspace jumps, perform basic navigation in realspace, land or dock at a pre-designated point and run diagnostics on their systems and cargo. Like most drones, they are vulnerable to navigational errors, mechanical failures and outright piracy.
The Kolier itself has a slender, dart-like profile, betraying its warship origins, but is almost entirely hollow, with cavernous cargo bays allowing it to carry up to 1,000 tons of freight. The ship has no crew accommodations of any sort, carrying no life support system and having only cramped engineering spaces designed primarily for small maintenance droids. This being said, desperate beings occasionally stow away on drone barges; the ship's interior can carry enough ambient atmosphere to sustain a standard-sized humanoid for up to 4 standard days, although this is by no means intended or encouraged. Given that the barge can remain in space for up to 8 months, it is common for stowaways on such vessels not to survive their journeys.
The Kolier has no shields and no weapons, although its hull is stoutly constructed and capable of taking some punishment. It has a top acceleration of 30 MGLT - although it is quite sluggish in the turn - plus a class 10 hyperdrive.

LEGALITY
Kolier-class ships are relatively simple to acquire and license in most systems. This being said, the operating costs - while far cheaper than a crewed freighter of equivalent size - and customs fees for bulk cargo on most civilized planets largely preclude it from private ownership. These vessels are usually found in the service of fleet operators, such as large shipping firms and occasionally governments.

INTENT
To create a standard class of drone barge for use by anyone.

DESCRIPTION
The Diktat-class combat rocket is a class of antique pinnace originally built for service in the military space forces of the planet SK-3, once the seat of a small pre-Republic interstellar fiefdom ruled by a dictator. The planet was sterilized during a war with a rival empire which absorbed this fiefdom, using SK-3 as an example to discourage rebellion. All examples of the Diktat were destroyed in the final defense of SK-3, save one.
The remaining Diktat served as the escape craft of SK-3's deposed leader, the wanderer Diktat Shrim. The primitive hyperdrive of Shrim's vessel was damaged during his escape from the planet, knocking out its relativistic shields and causing the ship to emerge from hyperspace thousands of years in the future, at the tail-end of the Hundred-Year Darkness. By this time, SK-3 was long a dead world, and Shrim's empire was a mere footnote in the ascendancy of another empire, which was itself barely remembered.

The Diktat represented the height of technology when it was built, but an age has passed since then, and it has been thousands of years since it was considered even remotely up-to-date. The ship has a long, wingless, cigar-shaped profile common to vessels of Shrim's ancient navy, lines which would be considered "classic" in the present. It is propelled through realspace by an archaic fission cycle drive, and has a relatively compact if primitive class 10 hyperdrive, a rarity in its day. It has no shields, although its protosteel hull is fairly sturdy, and is armed only with a single ranged weapon, an ancient medium raycannon (a coherent radiation projector similar in power to a modern laser cannon) mounted above the cockpit. The ship has a pair of sleeping berths for the pilot and copilot, and can carry up to 4 tons of cargo.
Of note, although capable of landing and taking off horizontally, Diktats were often launched vertically. Vessels employed in the interceptor role were kept on standby in hardened underground silos, the ruins of which can still be seen on SK-3 today.
Diktats were deployed in huge numbers by SK-3's defense forces, and put up stiff resistance during the final defense of the planet, but were ultimately outclassed by the early Bi-Vanes and other craft piloted by the enemy. In the present day, the type is laughably obsolete.

LEGALITY
The last remaining Diktat-class pinnace is essentially unique, although it would not be terribly difficult to certify it in most systems given its (by modern standards) light armament and small size. Modernization of critical systems may be required, however.

INTENT
To create a personal transport for my character, Diktat Shrim.
