MR-100 Assault Tank

cdb03b3b485644d7deb19c4abfa0d3b2.png

Model: MR-100 Assault Tank

Manufacturer: Rothana Heavy Engineering

Intent: Dude, we need tanks! Seriously though, this site rarely gets good vehicles like this, and I found great art for something so perfectly Star Wars that we needed this thing written up and I think it’ll be a great hit. Plus, FRIGGIN TANKS!

Ownership: Open-Usage, mainly for factions and stuff, but if an individual PC wants a friggin tank, I say let them eat cake!

Size:
- Length: 8.5 meters
- Width: 4.2 meters
- Height/Depth: 2.5 meters (+0.7m repulsor cushion)

Weight: 95 metric tonnes

Crew:
- Minimal Operation: 2 (Driver, Gunner)
- Optimal Operation: 3 (Driver, Gunner, Commander)

Armor Rating:
- Small Arms – Total Resistance
- Handheld Anti-Tank Weapons – 2-3 Direct Hits, 5-6 Glancing Blows
- Dedicated Anti-Tank Weapons – 1-2 Direct Hits, 3-4 Glancing Blows
- Bombardment/Artillery Weapons – 1 Direct Hit, 2 Glancing Blows

Propulsion: Repulsorlift Generators
- Max Speed: Clocked Maximum at approx. 100km/h
- Traversal Speed: 32 degrees/sec
- Turret Traverse: 34 degrees/sec
Armament/Equipment:
Armament:
- Primary Armament:
> 1 Heavy Blaster Cannon Turret
- Secondary Armament:
> 2 Fixed Mixed Munition Launchers
Equipment:
- 2 Smoke-Grenade Launchers (5 tubes per launcher)
- BattleNet Comm System
- Repair Kit
- Fire Extinguisher
- 1 week of consumables
- Automated Stability Compensation System
- Inertial Dampeners
- Emergency Flare Kit (Extraction Flares and Road Flares)
- Light Shield Generator
Description:

A tank capable of fulfilling a number of battlefield roles, the Multi-Role Model 100 (MR-100) Assault Tank is the bread and butter of an armored division. Capable of providing support for infantry, as well as heavy weapon application for dealing with larger hard targets, the MR-100 is a natural design in a galaxy on the brink of war. Used as a force multiplier, the tank is a huge advancement in terms of armoured fighting vehicle design. Its turreted heavy blaster cannon is capable of dislodging infantry from fortified positions or on open ground, as well as being able to dispatch enemy vehicles quickly rather than waste the lives of brave men and women struggling to get the handheld RPG up in front. The mixed munition launchers are fired by the driver, and are capable of putting downrange a number of ordinance options, such as concussion missiles, ion missiles, or even proton torpedoes. The tank also features light deflector shields as well as decent armour, though it is still susceptible to concentrated fire or simply overwhelming ordinance (like heavy turbolasers or bombing runs).

In summary, a fighting vehicle suitable for a number of roles on almost any battlefield.

I would lower the max speed to like 70 km/h to maybe 80 km/h

From what i've researched they only get up to about 70 for an M1 Abrams or less. But this is star wars where stuff is light, hovering, and has blaster cannons so i suppose it makes sense.

I'm gonna have to compare this to some of the hovering tanks in the CW, but I can't find really anything glaring here.

Ok, so looking over this, my one suggestion would be to match handheld anti-armor weaponry and larger artillery in terms of penetration, or make another section on resistance specifically for things like bombardments and other larger weapons. Other than that, looks good.

Honestly I like the slightly more ambiguous system I currently have, cuz it can account for other factors of penetration like:
- the actual penetrative power of the weapon -vs- its sheer explosive force
- the angle of the contact surface relative to the velocity of penetration
- volume of fire -vs- power
- damage or punishment already sustained by the hull armour

I figured it left a little wiggle room, and allowed the RP to account for those things that matter

Yeah, no worries. I was mostly simplifying it down, since we're trying to move away from having to calculate like angle of impact and a lot of that, since slugthrowers are less powerful, and you'll mostly be going up against blasters and lasers anyways.

That's fair. Glad to know that you approve of my tech, this is my first good write-up this timeline, though I'm still kinda waiting on my Rogue Armour.

Eh. I'm still somewhat meh with that one. Just doesn't seem in line with other armors, like my own Mando Tac Armor, or the Mk.2 Mando armor, or Grim's Armor. But that's neither here nor there for this submission. This one seems fairly solid, at least in my opinion.

I approve of the Heavy Gear hovertank render. Although my approval vanishes when I see the lack of the term "Fighter Tank" anywhere on this machine.

On the matter of how many hits it can take, it would be simpler to rate the tank as a Light, Medium or Heavy, and set up an appropriate shot count, identical to how personal body armour is set up this timeline. It keeps things simple and easy to reference, instead of relying on what last timeline had, which was a dick swinging math contest based on things the vast majority didn't know about, like the velocity of a HVAP shell vs the angle of armour and other nonsense that had no relevance in the actual RP.

Keep it simple, keep it sleek, keep it elegant.
