More Learning (Raelyn's Advanced Lightsaber Training)

[Emma Lou]

Raelyn had been on Alderaan for a few months now and she had heard of a master that trained knights in the ways of more lightsaber techniques. She was fascinated by how many there were out there and she jumped on the opportunity to ask for more training.

She already know Niman and was unsure what Master Huang would chose to teach her now. She was both excited and nervous for him to arrive.

He was a council member and she was a newly appointed knight.

 

[Will]

''Knight Raelyn. You have studied Niman, yes?''

Huang Karasu strode through the doors of the training arena. He was in his ever-present black robe, casting his skin almost alabaster, his facial piercings seeming to draw in the light around them. His yellow eyes, almost glowing, added to the effect of a very unorthodox seeming Jedi.

''The most common theme to take after study of Niman is Jar'Kai, fighting with two sabres. You are willing to learn?''

 

[Emma Lou]

Raelyn noticed the stark contrast between the two of them. Her blonde hair and blue eyes, his red hair and yellow eyes, her light blue robes, his black robes. It seemed like he was almost on the wrong side of the force.

She bowed her head in respect before speaking.

"Yes, master, I am willing to learn the form you will teach me"

 

[Will]

''Very well. Give me your sabre.''

Huang held his palm outstretched toward her, four training sabres orbiting his waist slowly.

 

[Emma Lou]

Raelyn looked at him for a second before nodding and unclipping her lightsaber from her belt. She held it out to him and all of a sudden felt very very naked.

 

[Will]

The sabre floated across the gap, and spun in Huang's outstretched palm as tow training sabres replaced her lost blade.

''Jar'kai is the art of wielding two blades, and is a natural continuation of Niman, your chosen form. It is common to use one blade for attack, in your main hand, and your off-hand is used for defence. I want you to apply this.''

Huang floated her sabre onto a wall rack, and grabbed his own training sabres out the air, igniting them.

''Now.''

Huang charged. To make things easier for the knight, Huang used the Niman permutation of Jar'kai, keeping the moves simple.

 

[Emma Lou]

Raelyn activated the two lightsabers as she took a few quick steps back. Her left hand came up to block his lightsaber and her right swung around towards his body. She had not practiced in a while and it was strange to be thrown right into the fray again.

 

[Will]

''High block.''

Huang brought one blade to block the incoming sabre while the other swept low, under her high blade, which had left an opening. She had a weak opening, but to achieve mastery in a skill first time was impossible.

 

[Emma Lou]

She saw his blade come under her own and dropped it down to bat his away. She was not sure if it connected as she backed up and again brought her attack blade, that had been stopped by his, around.

 

[Will]

Again, Huang parried easily, throwing a thrust as a riposte.

''Try not to concentrate on one blade, remember, you have two weapons to use. Each one does not need a specific role.''

 

[Emma Lou]

She spun out of the way as she brought one saber up to block him and the other came down to her side as she waited for his next attack so she could easily block it.

 

[Will]

''Very well.''

Huang went on the attack, both blades sweeping in at Raelyn, one at shoulder height, the other at waist, both horizontal. The blades moved so fast they seemed to be large fan-shaped constructs of light, rather than training sabres.

 

[Emma Lou]

Luckily, Raelyn was a tad faster than the lightsabers and she managed to do a small twist and bring both sabers to connect with both of his. Her left arm was twisted in a strange way and it added extra strain as she held his two blades at bay.

 

[Will]

Huang threw his arms outward, his arms circling so both blades swept up at an angle, moving so they would meet at her waist.

 

[Emma Lou]

Raelyn pulled the force around her and did a back flip out of the path of the blades. As she landed she held one blade behind her back and the other in front, inviting him to attack again.

 

[Will]

''You are learning well, Knight Raelyn. There is, naturally, a downside to Jar'kai.''

Huang threw a force push to the knight, charging forward, one blade now in hand, slashing upward and diagonally from the left. As he did so, he let off a pull, pulling her down to the ground.

''Focussing on wielding two sabres makes you vulnerable to force-based attacks, and using force abilities.''
