DESCRIPTION
The Bari Qu Systems Model 0553 was developed in response to the general favor its large flamer units had received. Many combatants messaged the company asking for personal flame weapons capable of being used by most beings. This launched into two product lines, the H3 handheld flamer and the concept of a thrown incendiary bomb. Stuffing their proprietary fuel mix into a thin durasteel cylinder with a blasting charge seemed to do the trick. And after nearly a century of tweaking the right combo of fuel and explosive charge Bari Qu ended up with the Model 0553.After the pin has been pulled the 5 second fuse begins its slow burn, after which it ignites the blasting charge simultaneously dispersing and igniting the fuel. Anything within a 2 meter radius is blanketed in fire causing sever damage to exposed flesh and light clothing. Any individuals not thoroughly covered will risk damage trying to cross through an area affected by an M0553. While not as immediately deadly as regular fragmentation grenades and with a much smaller effective radius, burns received from an M0553 can mount to sever if not dealt with quickly. That and the psychological fear affect fire has on most species tend to have many arguing it's effectiveness on the battlefield.
LEGALITY
Being considered a "destructive device" the M0553 is heavily restricted in most of the galaxy, if not outright illegal for anyone to own in most system. But less discerning areas, such as Hutt space tend to leave them at a semi "legal" status.INTENT
For use by a character with a penchant for pyromania.
ADVANCED TECH
Yes. While mechanically simple most governments tend to view the use of fire for any purpose other than heating with suspicion, making something like the M0553 illegal to posses. That said, many enterprising individuals have begun to profit by moving things like this past legal inspections and selling it for a large upmark in price. And if an individual finds themselves too short on credits to pay, they can always try to "relieve" one from a licenced owner, usually paramilitary organisations.
