Intent: Just another tool to be used against Force users in combat. I wanted something like OC/pepperspray but more lethal, which would also be hard for a Force User to block. Flamethrowers of the wrist mounted type are cool and neat, but I wanted something easier to hide, disposable, that could serve almost in the same role as a "hold out blaster" would against non-FS characters, something that doesn't weigh you down like a wristmounted flamethrower would, and something you can pick up at the storage area on base, and then just toss after it's been used. I thought of this, and thought how cool it would be to have fire on a spray can.
Model: Mk3 Pyrotechnic Munitions Device.
Type: Chemical aerosol weapon
Size: 11 cm, 4 cm diameter
Composition: Plasteel, minor metal parts
Range: Effective range 6 meters
Ammunition Capacity: Counted in seconds, the PMD is capable of sustaining a continuous jet of fire for 10 seconds, approximately 10-12 cm wide at its widest point.
Description: The Mark 3 Pyrotechnic Munitions Device was developed as a tactical tool against force users by special operations forces. Known affectionately as Firespray among its users, the PMD is a spray canister the size of a pepper spray can, filled with a pressurized gel like flammable substance derived from gasoline and thermite. The mouthpiece or nozzle of the canister has an ignition device built in, which ignites the gel compound upon pulling of the trigger. A stream of semi-liquid fire is then ejected or sprayed up to 6 meters from the canister, spraying enemies with a sticky napalm like fire substance.
The lethality of the weapon is high, but the weapon is mainly designed as a distraction device to weaken and distract a force user while the operator moves in for the kill. To extinguish the burning substance is difficult - like phosphorous, it burns until there is nothing left for it to burn. A person has a few different options when hit with the compound; keep the exposed area continuously wet until in a medical environment where it can be properly removed, keep it covered as to starve the compound and fire of oxygen until the same, or using a blade to cut off the exposed skin.
Because of its nature, Firespray in its canister is considered a disposable weapon, which, after being used, is discarded. In a training environment the canisters can be, and are, salvaged and returned to the factory to be refilled and reused; however, in a combat environment, that is an unviable and inpractical procedure.
The Firespray, while popular with special operations forces and force hunters, is banned by roughly a dozen galactic treaties and conventions, and is considered illegal for civilian use, as well as military. Despite this it is available for special operations forces, and has also made its way onto the black market where it is widely popularized as a weapon of terror and intimidation.
