Mists of Myrkr: Story Arc OOC Thread

Good Morrow, my friends!

This will serve as the OOC thread for the story arc I discussed in the Roleplaying Help board as a character progression plot for my character, Rymann Vizsla. I am looking for anyone interested in roleplaying a five act plotline focused in Mandalorian Space and extending to the mysterious, arboreal world of Myrkr. Due to the length of the missions, and to maximize the number of participants and the ability for everyone to show off their unique talents, each Act will be treated as a separate thread, and if you wish to request a specific one to participate in, simply reply here, and I will try to keep the mission's organized. Priority will need to be given to whomever helps in the previous Act for the next one so that we can keep continuity, but I am more than willing to alter as we need to to involve folks! I'll run the Acts in sequential order; as each comes to a close, we can move on to the next one.

I will be running these threads as Open, simply because I don't mind a bit of random chance, but please, make sure that hopping in, you follow the continuity of the thread AND you are following Wheaton's Law. I will be running a majority of the major NPCs, but as long as the plot keeps moving forward, I have no problem at all with someone taking over any NPC I introduce!

Act 1: Internal Affair
Player Characters Involved:

• Rymann, played by Stormthroe

Summary: Trouble brews on the honorable Republic world of Mandalore. Initial discoveries have revealed that a crime ring, known only as the Ge'tal Syndicate, has been smuggling illegal animals from across the galaxy out of Mandalorian space. At the request of several affected worlds, the Mandalorian Houses Vizsla and Kryze have launched an investigation to find the criminals responsible, and put a stop to their efforts.
- This Act is based on the Border Alliance world of Mandalore. Rymann, and any involved, will begin this story arc investigating the Ge'tal Syndicate on Mandalore. The Act will be centered around the intrigue that propagates between the clans on Mandalore, along with some combat. Eventually, we will discover a lead that pulls us towards Myrkr. Fun! -

From the thread in Roleplaying Help, @Krajin , @Caligula , @Shalken , with whatever characters and motivations they might have for taking part if you still have the interest! Otherwise, open for anyone to serve as investigators; either as envoys from affected planets of the smuggling ring, or what have you. Additionally, if anyone would like to serve as an opposing force for us, please PM me for this first act!

I've been looking for an excuse to get my character Giran involved with the Mandalorians a bit. Count him in for when it makes sense. Feel free to read up on him. Independent Merc not tied to anything yet. Has his own ship and such. If you think he could fit, great!

@Bauren , an excellent profile! Hmm...perhaps he was hired by a competing organization to "represent their interests" and put a stop to the Ge'tal's interference? If he's from Boonta, maybe one of the Hutts is his patron?

Is @Ral 's mando going to be there? Kyrene needs to squeeze his arm.

If @Ral would like to participate! Personally, I would love to have he and Rymann meet. Yessss

Maybe this is a touch premature, but I wouldn't mind getting Taura involved in the investigation - An extra gun on hand possibly. I'll understand perfectly if the character doesn't fit of course.

Not a problem, @mcewanman . If you can think of a reason she'd be involved. Maybe for the same reasons as Bauren's character? However, I will say this is less open bounty and more a civil investigation.

I'd be up for opposing them a bit. Whoever you think would try to stop them, feel free to hire Giran as long as it makes sense. Maybe in the end he won't like his employer and side with the party. Who knows!?

Well @Stormthroe , I was thinking that she hopes to get some experience tracking and investigating to improve her hunting skills, so she offers her services at a cheap price. The willingness of a hired gun and the assurance of "we need as much help as we can get" allows her to be a guard for the investigation team. That sound ok?

Hmm...with my idea being that this investigation is being sponsored by affected Republic worlds, more than one or two random hunters wouldn't make much sense, as most of those worlds would have an established police force or acces to the BHG. However, if Bauren is going to help serve as our antagonist, then you can certainly use the intro I pitched him! Does that work for you?

That works absolutely fine, it probably suits the character better anyway. Just thought I'd throw some ideas up, y'know?
EDIT: @Stormthroe When can we expect this to start? Not trying to nag, just curious.

Khalen would be involved in this as he has an extreme dislike in those who smuggle animals in such a manner. (Also allows me to get something going for him to :p) This will be an interesting thread series!

I was going to give it one day so that I could see who wanted in as investigators, then start the thread tomorrow evening.

Also, @Krajin , awesome! It'll be good to have a friendly face :D not that the rest of you aren't friendly...you know what I mean, Rymann already knows him.

Though, curiously Wonder if during our investigations one might be able to pick up an animal companion :P

Hey, like I said in my Roleplay Help thread, in addition to the character growth from threads like these, my plan for the final act was to get Rymann a Vornskr pup as a story companion. I say go for it!

I may or may not get Magnus involved; although he'd want to profit from animal smuggling, he'd prefer to be more discreet about it and would most likely stay on the business side instead of getting his hands dirty.

Otherwise, I can NPC some Reshek locals in Act II if the situation calls for it.

Sure thing, @Shalken ! Act 1 is more quiet intrigue, but If you want, I can have Magnus hop in in a later Act where a criminal mastermind is more likely to be involved. Also, I will certainly take you up on that fact! However, a query; I'm planning on exploring a more isolated part of Myrkr with no major cities. Are there more tribal settlements of Reshek on the planet in these isolated areas, similar to how native tribes still thrive in the deeper parts of the Amazon rain forest?

Magnus could be orchestrating stuff like that. I'll definitely consider it.

As for the Reshek settlements, yes, there would be some small clusters scattered across the planet, even in some isolated areas. Ultimately it depends on the availability of food, water, and other necessities; even still, if the smugglers were working frequently on the planet, the closest cluster would probably be several miles away, the locals either ignorant or unable to do anything about it.
