DESCRIPTION​

The AC-27 is a durable and versatile blaster rifle. Its design is a new introduction from Merr-Sonn to enter onto the scene of the galactic war. While it never gained popularity with the front line soldier due to its price, but has found a niche among bounty hunters, mercenaries, and other soldiers who have the money to pay for the pricey weapon. The rifle is a dorsal bullpup design with the powerpack fed in along the top of the rifle into a slot just below the rail system. The rifle comes standard with iron sights and foregrip.

INTENT​

I want to get a new rifle for my Mandalorian, and I'm not aware of any current tech that fits what I'm looking for.

This thing is hella powerful I think. As an automatic it fires 5 bolts (more than quickdraw or CZ MSRB) in a second. I think Heavy (maybe medium?) repeaters fire medium blaster bolts as an automatic weapon but those things need mounting they are so large. I think it’s more likely that a light repeater gets scaled down to rifle size and that makes it AT but that would mean it would still be firing light blaster bolts.

If more interested in keeping the medium damage characteristic then it is probably a 5-6 thread type weapon in my mind unless it’s also as in accurate as light repeaters are.

Huh... I didn't notice that all the repeaters I was looking at were light damage. You're definitely right (clearly I've been out of the tech making game for too long). I'll either change it to light damage or make it burst fire instead. Not sure yet, I'll probably decide shortly

Edit: alright, I made it light damage. The goal was to make a smaller repeater. Now it's smaller than a repeater but with half the ammo

So, just so you're aware, automatic weapons in this TL tend not to be anything smaller than a Squad Automatic Weapon, IE something that's too heavy to be shoulder fired in full auto. There are reasons for that; we have a very hard time balancing full auto in PvP, and so we like to give weapons like this some tangible drawbacks.

This being said, there are weapons that are capable of burst fire, and those have a more traditional firing position.

So, depending on what you'd like this weapon to do, I would ask you do one of two things. If you want to keep the full auto capability, I would ask you include something in the description about it being uncontrollable in that mode unless it is fire prone or from the hip. If you'd like to avoid that drawback, I would have it be a 2 or 3 round burst instead.

If it is 3 round burst that would make it an even higher rate of fire than a generic tech light repeater since a light repeater fires 5 in one second. Unless you mean 3 bolts in 1 second and has to fire burst mode with every trigger pull otherwise it could only fire one bolt per second in single fire mode.

Yeah, I know most automatic things are sobig and bulky, that's why this was going to be adv tech vs just another gentech repeater. I understand the balancing concerns though.

So I switched it to 3-rd-burst but also put it back to medium damage. With Dara's question above, I assume that means it is 3 shots in one second and with one pull of the trigger, thereby putting it slightly above semi-automatic in cycle rate, but lower than a repeater

I like that idea because it also in the 3 round burst mode it has to fire all 3 shots. That can be both a help and a hindrance which balances out for the given damage output.

I was going to say, similar to the slugthrower pistol I'm applying for, the 3 bursts would likely occur over 1 second. So in that case, I think this fits well given its medium damage rating.
