Class Offering: "Melee Circle": Swordplay
Teacher: AbdAas Oriatius
Note: I can cater this lesson to a specific ideal of any one or multiple sword forms if there is an interest to do so.
Description: This is to be a more free environment then most other swordplay classes, with a simple structure that will be maintained by me; which is that all participants will remain as points to a circle facing each other. There will be no posting order, as there will only require one initiator and a continuous flow of sequencial reactions from others that either defend each other or initiate a new line of attack on the originator of the series. The idea will be to keep a constant flow of counters that allow each and every individual to swap out, like a revolving door. If the concept is understood well enough, which I will further explain in the class and judge its comprehension, then I will add to the complexity of the idea and allow two interchangeable circles, an inner and an outer, to coexist with mutliple counters and multiple points of concentration to flow.
To help explain, I present this visual: Picture all wielding wooden katanas:
A single circle is made up of four people; person A, B, C, and D. Person B randomly begins with a downward slash to person D. Person C randomly counters person B with deflecting swipe and a following cross to person B. Person A randomly counters with an interrupting thrust to person C. But person B counters person A with a deflecting upwards swing that clashes person A's weapon into person C's weapon. And so on, and so forth...
In this single circle, there should only be one point of constant countering; whereas in a dual circle setup, there would be multiple and ever changing points of countering.
Anyone interested???
