Class Offering: "Melee Circle": Swordplay
Teacher: AbdAas Oriatius
Note: I can cater this lesson to a specific ideal of any one or multiple sword forms if there is an interest to do so.

Description: This is to be a more free environment then most other swordplay classes, with a simple structure that will be maintained by me; which is that all participants will remain as points to a circle facing each other. There will be no posting order, as there will only require one initiator and a continuous flow of sequencial reactions from others that either defend each other or initiate a new line of attack on the originator of the series. The idea will be to keep a constant flow of counters that allow each and every individual to swap out, like a revolving door. If the concept is understood well enough, which I will further explain in the class and judge its comprehension, then I will add to the complexity of the idea and allow two interchangeable circles, an inner and an outer, to coexist with mutliple counters and multiple points of concentration to flow.

To help explain, I present this visual: Picture all wielding wooden katanas:

A single circle is made up of four people; person A, B, C, and D. Person B randomly begins with a downward slash to person D. Person C randomly counters person B with deflecting swipe and a following cross to person B. Person A randomly counters with an interrupting thrust to person C. But person B counters person A with a deflecting upwards swing that clashes person A's weapon into person C's weapon. And so on, and so forth...

In this single circle, there should only be one point of constant countering; whereas in a dual circle setup, there would be multiple and ever changing points of countering.

Anyone interested???

Sounds neat. Makes sense on a practical level, as it would keep you on your toes and keep you from becoming complacent.

Yup! And as I said, I can cater this class to anyone's preferred lightsaber form to help focus their training. I'll keep it lively fosho! ...That is if anyone actually wants to do this. :(

I'd be interested. Tross needs to brush up on his saber combat.

Not certain if Chervil is ready for this yet, but if he is by the time this starts, you can count him in.

What level is this class tailored towards? I would like to participate but am not sure if I'm too inexperienced.

This would be tailored to the majority level of interested applicants. However, if there were enough applicants of two different groups, I would happily execute this concept through two separate threads; one for the youngsters and one for the big boys. But as it stands, I can totally keep a balance with a multileveled class by being physically involved in the exercise.

Applicants thus far:

Padawans: Jaffa with Sal, Gnost with Gnost, Le Seigneur with Chervil.

Other Ranks: Mav with Tross. ...Not sure what rank you were given..?

Masters: Nayl with Darix, and me as both teacher and participant with AbdAas.

Tross was given Knight. Sorry for not specifying and I just remembered I haven't added that in his profile. Oopsy!

Anywho, in terms of level, Tross would be considered an advanced paddie... he hasn't even made his own lightsaber yet... :/ I should probably get on that.

I'd be very interested! Not sure if you'll accept Initiates, but I'd like to participate all the same if you'll have me.

Roy would be more than happy to join and train on shii-cho and maybe learn Djem-so/shien like he wants to.
