Introductory Report to the Society of Galactic Anthropologists on Fluxom.

Right you lot I've crammed about as much information into this preliminary overview as I can so you had better appreciate it! This is the first of many reports to be filed on this absolutely fascinating species! Please respond when you are able. I have included many livecaps and my own drawings in this holoreport as well as archived primary source footage and pictures as well as secondry source information. I look forward to spending more time here and only ask that you send more seasoned researchers, I can't stop the younger ones from running off to go play in the pleasurepools it is a great distraction! They don't even have locks on the doorsa so I can keep the damned researchers in one place.

Name: Medegn

Biology: Reptilian.

The circulatory system is handled by a six chambered heart that is controlled automatically by the autonomic nervous system, there are two aorta and atria which aide blood thermoregulation: the species is cold blooded and has a far lower rate of metabolism than any humanoid species making their biology extremely fuel efficient in comparison to warm blooded/high metabolism species. Although having a slow metabolism Medegn are an incredibly nimble and quick species and just as capable as other humanoid species in this regard.

Breathing is managed by a single large lung which is also subdivided into four main chambers and takes up an efficient area of space behind the thoracic diaphragm that means only the left part of their chest expands and contracts with the respiratory process. A series of hepatic pistons which push the oxygen into the larger chambers at the top and press them down into the smaller chambers.

Skin is made up of a diamond shaped horny epidermis allowing both dry land living and underwater living to be possible since it is watertight. Scales cover over the thin epidermis to protect internal organs and the limbs.

Skeletal system is rather generic being similar to that of the Trandoshan species whom it is believed the Medegn may be a distant relative of, however unlike most other humanoids their ribcage exists like a venetian blind with no gaps acting like plated armour.

Nervous system is a series of ganglion that are connected through the spinal cord and a series of nodes and synapses throughout the body that process information in order of priorities as decided by the brain which is itself divided into three separate spheres that regulate behavior, senses, social interaction and other areas typically controlled by the brain. Hearing is enhanced by electrical tuning due to the species possessing no outer ear. Their cognitive abilities or on par with a human brain but the rate at which these develop is increased by an advanced system of neuro responder chemicals that pass information between the nodes to help transmit information in the nervous system via electricity quicker. The more a Medegn does something the quicker these interconnections are formed just the way a human brain operates.

Horns naturally develop but now they are seen as an aesthetic choice, unusually for Reptilians they posses no tail which leads to further speculation on the Trandoshan relative theory. Feet are webbed for swimming which slightly blurs the line between the species and similar amphibious creatures, as they also possess internalised gills as small pouches around the throat to allow the water and oxygen to be separated.

The eyesight of the species is considered incredibly advanced both above and underwater as it allows perception in radiations that humanoids cannot such as ultraviolet and shades of infrared being one of a few documented species that are capable of vision in this waveband.

The average lifespan is 120 standard years and reach sexual capability around 17 standard years and full maturity at 25 years.

Reproduction is done in two ways first by the three sexes is during early life in which asexual reproduction is possible for each individual sex (in effect cloning) as each individual technically starts off as multigender before reaching a certain maturity. After this sexual reproduction must involve the three sexes. For sexual reproduction the male and female exchange their bodily fluids into one another which produces an egg embryo. The female then opens herself up for the Apex who stores the egg until it is mature enough to be exited from the body. The process of fertilisation is an extremely pleasurable one either done alone or with others, the developing fetus can be aborted at any point by the female naturally using chemicals secreted from her brain. The Apex is also capable of this function before laying the egg. Reproduction for the female and apex happens from a single hole at which most bodily excretion leaves at the base of the tailbone. For Males there is a an internal bone at the front of the pelvis that when aroused is pushed forward by increased blood flow - from this the sperm is injected into the females egg sacs directly. A “flap” in the females cloaca which for most reptiles reproduction and excrement takes place at the base of the tail bone - the flap shuts off the excrement from the stomach during sexual arousal preventing any mixing of the fluids and brings forward the egg sacs for the male to fertilise. Once an egg sac has been fertalised generally six to twelve with an average of eight eggs are produced over a period of a standard hour. The Apex then takes the eggs via a claw like appendage which enters the cloaca retracts to incubate the eggs in their body in a special gel sac which provides nourishment for the developing eggs, the Apex keeps the eggs for a standard three months before they are laid as to hatch near the water. Asexual reproduction is generally only done once or twice during the average lifespan and sexual reproduction happens many times into adulthood.

In society sex is not something that is practiced around others except for in arranged orgies. it is thought of as rude to openly display sexual longing and petting in front of others and is usually considered a sign of immaturity.

Strengths and Weaknesses:

Strengths.

Although thought to be an engineered distant relative of Trandoshan the wider Galactic community has not had time to prove or disprove this thesis they do have a greater upper body strength but not to the degree of their supposed saurian cousin species. There are some who believe that Columi interfered with this species but there has been no concrete proof. As a species their homeworld provided fertile grounds for advancement being a large water world with a great variety of species the Medegn originally fit in as primitives working on principles that Galactic Biologists would have termed Mutual Aid. Their strength is in there cooperativeness and communal efforts.

Weaknesses:

Their lower body structure whilst not weak as they need to be able to swim is not easy to produce muscle on and takes a great many years of hard work to become capable enough to become a strong swimmer however this can be negated by training from a young age. As an involved species they have been largely isolationist not wishing to partake in larger Galactic affairs not wishing to leave their own society and culture to live in the wider Galactic culture which they view as harmful. They are also very sensitive to the effects of the Force although not in that they are more attuned to it but rather users of the Force find that their attacks and senses are amplified around Medegn or against them.

Diet:

Medegn are Omnivores but in their pre-technological era were primarily hunters and fisherpeople before discovering means of agriculture. There are thousands of foods that are enjoyed by the species and having a largely basic diet makes most of their culinary habits compatible with Trandoshan and wider Reptilian foods. There is no real form of food that a similar kind could not be found on a hundred different worlds. Often when visitors and Medegn eat together the most common phrase is “Tastes like chicken.” Eating is done communally and seen as a chance to connect with others over the joys of eating. Many Medegn operate resturaunts or food brazzars and markets to trade or eat with strangers and make new acquaintances.

Behaviour/Temperament:

Not due to the species inherent nature but rather the society they come from, each member is entirely hedonistic but also mutually responsible for one another. Whilst personal pleasure is prized if it affects a group in a negative way it is often looked down on. At one point in the species history Death Sticks were widespread until many clinics could be developed to aide abusers. In following this vein whilst the Society they live in tries it’s best to minimise its impact on individuals it does not mean there are not recognizable social norms. Baring teeth at another is generally considered rude or aggressive or to have sexual connotations in certain circumstances. They are social creatures that rely on one another at all times seeing as “No individual is separate from the whole.” and reflect this by living largely in communal dorms however smaller "habits" are more common for those choosing to raise children. They are typically non aggressive towards one another although fights do happen as in any society however they are usually quickly resolved, a physical confrontation is seen as the chance to unburden strong feelings and usually afterword the matter is considered finished.


Communication:

Whilst many Medegn speak Galactic basic they do have gaps in the knowledge of the language and this can be put down to their own language. Mariane which operates on the theory of linguistic relativity that language itself influences thought and creation patterns. It can be represented in either binary in which it is represented by binary grids or in a written form. When spoken it is represented by a series of hisses and stressed vocals. Their language lacks words for property or ownership or gender specific pronouns it does have a concept of these and other structural types such as dominant and submissive within the language but it lacks any strict coding of it. These concepts are relatively alien to the Medegn language and exist mostly as theory or for interacting with other species and not among one another. It is only with wider contact in the Galaxy and cross cultural contamination that these concepts have recently become more prevalent in the language. Cultural changes after the Sith-Alliance war have forced these previously alien concepts into the language such as words that mean similar things to possession and ownership it actually translates into basic as appropriated.


Culture:

The Medegn Culture is based around Mutual Aid and beneficial cooperation amongst members. In this sense Culture was constantly changing and it was not until space travel became feasible and contact was established with the Galactic Republic, before that they had been cut off for thousands of years from almost the rest of the Galaxy until a Jedi Exploration Corp found them. After joining the Republic Medegn society had to reorganise to have elected officials to represent them at the Senate for a brief period. Before this all decision making was done via direct democracy in which all members could participate regardless of age or sex or any other characteristics it had always been so so it had always been. As a large form of monoculture hedonism was particularly valued with Medegn inventing many kinds of games to play each having different cultural implications and meaning specific to them, often lyrical poetry was a favoured pastime before it fell out of practice in recent decades. Gaming is a very important part of the culture and special respect is felt for game makers who help direct group play. The Medegn as a society are always playing, even work is considered a form of play since no Medegn officially has a job with the exception of planetary representatives or those in Military Syndics in which case a member must pledge a certain number of years service. Promotion within the service to the Command Corp is by request only, Medegn soldiers that volunteer themselves for the Command Corp have their name put on a list and are observed until they are deemed to have graduated to the level of responsibility for leadership, even then any troop they are put in command of must ratify leadership at the end of every standard ten days if possible whilst not the easiest system it has proven itself a reliable command structure if a Commander is voted out or deemed unfit the blame does not fall with the individual but rather those who appointed them.

"Why do we choose to swim? We can never be as good as the Orcakin whose bodies have adapted over many thousands of years of evolution to be one of the most perfect forms for swimming powerfully. So why do we, why do I choose to swim? Pleasure, if there is one thing the humanoid form excels at it's pleasure."
Any Labour that cannot be done by droids or that Medegns choose to do such as fishing means going through the bureaucracy that is Div-Lab which is a large computer that offers different work for a Medegn each week - if he chooses not to do any work there is no punishment but instead a social stigma and so very few Medegn are “outbounders” who are typically party animals indulging in further forms of hedonism. Dancing and underwater displays are considered perfect examples of teamwork since no one dancer or swimmer acts independently from the whole and it is often seen as the highest form of teamwork and physical exertion that can be put on them. There are specialised fields within Div-Lab such as in the Sciences which when dealing with Div-Lab a Medegn just puts in a general area of interest they would like to work in and Div-Lab comes up with offers to work on collaborative projects and join teams conducting specialist research - mathematicians and physicists are highly thought of as their own hedonistic love for their subject benefits all Medegn and not just themselves. This is not to say that their society has no introverts or loners it does some Medegn prefer to spend time mostly alone but this is relatively rare. Crime is totally unknown as for a start there are no prisons and usually breaking a social convention such as rubbing scales without the others permission means an individual would not be invited to the next social event. Medegn have a concept of money but it is only for use when interacting with other Cultures as it is largely redundant within their own society which produces more than enough food, shelter, clothing, art and other resources to be shared equally for all. Specialist Syndics can request priority for resources however such as the various Chemist Syndics requesting priority on certain goods or Various Educational Syndics or the Transport Syndics requesting a priority on mechanics or droids. Div-Lab is responsible for it all and while not always getting it right as mistakes often happen it is a well regarded system that for the Medegns has always worked more or less.

Schools are a microcosm of the society since lessons are optional and as much emphasis is placed on play as lessons and tailored to each hatchling at the end of every standard ten days a general meeting is held in which students and pupils vote on issues directly after debates these issues are mostly related to the academia and running of the institute or for the hatchlings to try to be quieter around teacher study time which is always voted through then blatantly ignored by younger hatchlings. An important but often overlooked aspect of their culture is the obsession with being energy efficient, that all technology must be an efficient use of energy expansion for what is received in return whilst it has left some Anthropologists puzzled at why such a culture places such a high emphasis on dancing or art which can be considered a waste of energy the general philosophy is that energy wasted that you enjoyed wasting is not wasted energy. Children live separate from their parents after the age of eight to allow them to develop by themselves among other children. Parents may come to see their children at any time but it is generally frowned upon to take too active a role in the child's play or education as they must live their own lives and learn to take responsibility for their own actions.

Hedonistic loyalty is overridden by only one other form of bond in the culture and it is a unique form of “life debt” in which one pledges himself to a group and the group pledge to the individual it is usually symbolised by the drinking of each others blood. It is a slightly barbaric action but denotes the seriousness of the ritual. It is most common in military units that Medegn have served in for large periods of time or the sciences in which teamwork is considered more important than individual brilliance.

Perhaps because of this it also makes them fantastic soldiers since their loyalty to a group or syndicate overrides personal hedonism most times and whilst having pursued a mostly isolationist policy since entrance to the Republic the Medegn military has deployed to worlds where it was agreed it would have the most altruistic usage. Around a hundred years ago Slavers appeared and started enslaving a species of Humanoids on a somewhat distant moon in their nearest neighbor system. This sent the Medegn society into a fit of rage and the Military helped crush the slavers and allow the slaves to rebuild their world. In this regard there has been fierce and sometimes violent debate within the Military Syndics and almost every other Syndic about making the decision to join the new Rebel Alliance or to try and stick to more Isolationist policies of their past. In the Empire vs the Alliance conflicts a great deal Medegn never returned to their homes by volunteering to fight for the Alliance military. This was in spite of officially staying neutral in the war as there was no real planet wide mobilisation or Government (not that there every really has been) to sanction a state of war. In the times of the Old senate trade agreements were regularly delayed for weeks when Medegn were involved since it had to be debated by the various affected groups before a form of consensus could take place and the representative be given permission to act on behalf of the majority. There is no adhered to Religion, some Medegn who have become travelers find religion but in general the lack of belief in any Religious beings pervades. Most Medegn believe they were originally designed by the Celestials or the Columi or some other ancient culture to fight in their wars but they attribute no particular cultural or religious importance to this. In short they are largely atheistic.


History:

Although originally believed to have been some how related to Trandoshan saurians more recent evidence (however not a great deal) has come to light suggesting genetic interference by ancient Columi who may have created this species as intended soldiers due to their incredible population increase rates and range of fertility. It seems however that Columi’s plans did not work out as intended and a sort of Utopianistic society managed to build itself without interference from the wider galactic community. Their local star system contained unusually two habitable planets. Before space travel the majority of Medegn lived on the planet closest to the sun but in the modern era most Medegn have taken to living on the massive artificial orbital that is in the middle of their cluster. The megastructure has a diameter of 10,000km and a width of around 400km. It is not entirely known who created this despite thousands of years of research but instead believed to be a collaborative project.

Before this however the era the Medegn historians refer to as “Pre-space era” so as to differentiate between their local history and the larger part played in Galactic History. During the Pre Space Era the civilization is considered to have advanced rapidly having reached the level to travel in hyperspace roughly ten thousand years. It is believed there was little interference during this time by the Galactic Powers such as the Infinite Empire but this could be attributed to the limitations in Hyperspace technology to reach the Medegn system.

In the Modern era the Medegn although largely isolationist are considred by many of the nearby clusters of less or similarly advanced species to be the ruler of the cluster and Medegn society has a great deal of influence with these worlds as the Medegns actively provide aid and food to the nearby systems when asked for it. Medegn diplomats and strategists are respected well outside of their local star system. Although the Medegn prefer not to get involved in the day to day running of other planets and civilizations affairs unless asked for and are seen as true neutral intermediaries who have often brokered deals between conflicting factions and ideologues. In the wars that the Medegn have been engaged in it is unusual for a planetary Government to not support their military interventions partially out of fear on the less advanced worlds and partially due to their role as local peacekeepers and positive public image. Medegn Transport Syndics often orgainise immigration societies to the Ringworld for other species to travel to and experiance for a number of years usually through Universities or local Workers Unions.

During The Third Imperial Civil War many Medegn were called back to defend their species from a previosuly unknown species of Slaver warriors who began a program of extermination and colonialism against the Medegn which left them largely out of the Intergalactic conflict that shook the foundations of the Galaxy and lead to the creation of the Galactic Alliance.

The Unknown Slaver species forced a new word into the Medegn language “Shoah” which is the name not only for the conflict but also for their enemies. The conflict was terrible and bloody with each side being limited in their technological fields due to Medegn society usually refusing trade agreements and this species being relatively primitive in their hyperspace technology but very martial. The tiny Medegn navy although far more advanced was not able to stop enough of the Slavers from landing on their worlds and the Navy was eventually beaten back and retreated out of system due to enemy weight of numbers. On the ground their forces were more evenly matched as the large number of Shoah warriors often overwhelmed the few battledroids the Medegns had and the Marine divisions being woefully underequipped to fight a long war of attrition, they were meant for surgical precision strikes and often found themselves trapped and without adequate supply lines if their units penetrated too deep meaning further attacks had to be coordinated to relieve trapped units which wasted valuable supplies and soldiers. As the war progressed mostly on the Ringworld Medegn Marines operated much akin to special forces units, sabotaging supplies, killing enemy commanders and frustrating enemy movements through hit and run attacks. The Marines tactics developed to the war and despite Shoah space superioirty were capable of almost grinding the Shoah advances to a halt for years before the Shoah fleet had reinforcements presumbly from their home system. These convoys presented a perfect target for the largely carrier and fighter bomber based Navy who also started to operate on hit and run surgical strikes. As the war wore on the Shoah were increasingly without food or supplies to maintain even basic equipment, the side effect being that Shoah would raid further and further across the Ringworld destroying many towns and villages in the search for supplies. The Shoah were unwilling for religious reasons to heavily saturate and bombard the Ringworld but the massive Orbitals shields were capable of withstanding almost any artillery they deployed on it.

It would be almost ten years of constant grinding warfare before the Medegn could reclaim their Ringworld and home planet. The War of the Ring was a long and devastating one. Eventually Medegn forces proved victorious at a high cost. As the Shoah fleet retreated from the Ringworld and attempted to flee out their initial entry vector the Medegn Navy launched a furious counter attack that ravaged the Shoah retreat out of the system in an act of pure vengeance which added a new word to thier language "nehkah" which is in Galactic Basic "rage given form" only once the ships left through the unstable hyperroute did the Medegn navy turn back around. Occasionally Shoah raiding parties have turned up in system over the preceding years but that has become increasingly rare over time the last one was just over ten years ago now and other than this the average Medegn lives a peaceful life. Many reactionaries have argued that their society can never truly be safe from another war from the Shoah and it would be best to assemble a fleet and find the Shoah homeworld and destroy it. It is an uncommon view however for the majority who no longer view the Shoah as a threat since Medegn technology has kept to similar Galactic standards whilst the Shoah seem to be progressing at a much slower rate meaning the outdated Medegn navy is still far superior in terms of sublight travel, weaponry and shielding tech.

The effect on Medegn afterwards drove their society to put more focus on martial thinking and a deep introspection about if they should abandon their idealistic lifestyle to prevent another Shoah but there was never any consensus. This is one of the major reasons many Medegn are opposed to getting involved with the Rebel Remnant as it could lead to a second and final Shoah courtesy of the Sith Empire for supporting the Rebels. Although many Medegn served in the GA the Empire has more or less ignored them now that the Alliance is broken. It seems that their world is just one among many that is swamped under miles of datapads that is the Imperial Bureaucracy.

In their own way the Shoah, Medgen conflict War of the Ring was a microcosm of the larger Galactic Conflict, a conflict of ideology. On the one hand was the Medegn forces standing up for Democracy and peaceful ways of living; the other the Shoah a deeply religious species who in essence believe that might is right and that their place among the stars is manifest destiny. From what the Medegn know of Shoah society the Medegn are viewed as something akin to Daemons as they subvert the strong with weakness and do not use their strength to assert dominance which is anathema to their beliefs. And much like the larger conflict that took place in this miniaturized version of it, the Shoah keep reappearing.


The Ringworld is believed to have predated the Columi but they were most definitely involved in it's later construction however it is considered to most probably be a Celestial production, hallmarks of the other species exist all over it such as Kilik tunnels though long since abandoned and Gree hamlets. It has been theorised by many Medegn historians that it was a project built amongst the Involved species of the ancient days. It predates the Medegn civilization by many many thousands of years but there is no widely agreed on date. The Ringworld contains a number of Hyperspace Portals which have long since stopped functioning, many Columi and Gree have come to look at these portals over the years and study them but little has been gained. One popular theory is that the Ringworld was meant to be a harvester of portal energy and to create stable hyperlanes throughout and the Medegn where put in place as it's defenders.

Whilst having been a member of the Galactic Republic in days gone past by the time of the formation of the Galactic Alliance the Medegn had opted to stay out and instead preferred to return to pursuing isolationist policies. They maintained a Representative to the Alliance on foreign relations but that was all the formal communication between the civilizations. In the past the Ringworld has been known to have vast quantities of Durasteel and other starship construction based alloys that for the most part been barely tapped into due to the society not wishing to exploit natural resources and most having everything they could need in the first place.

Planet: Home system is somewhere in the Expansion region of N,15 towards the galactic South West. I am not allowed to list exact location. Most live on a large Orbital Ringworld situated in their home system.

The Medegn Navy is tiny standing at just thirty medium Carrier craft and forty two Frigate class, 18 Cruiser class vessels and just thirteen Destroyer class vessels and a single Battleship. However since it's role is mostly in protecting it's local cluster it is perhaps large on a relative scale with a heavy focus on being a defence force which explains the large number of carrier craft to launch long range patrols into deep space. The primary role of the Navy is local system defence and Long Range patrol which is why there is such a large pool of frigate and carrier based vessels. The carriers seem mostly out of date but still serve their function - a typical long range patrol is made up of three Frigates and a Cruiser to a Carrier, the formations change and are mixed up depending on how many ships are being refitted at any one time. The Battleship Nehkah is usually only for local system patrol but often ferries diplomatic envoys to neighboring systems and it's deployment to a region is generally considered a sign of disfavour from the Medegn society.

Carriers double up as a method of deploying the Marine forces which wear an older model of the Vanity series of armour, Vanity being most notable for being a company that supplies the Imperial heavy armour to the Stormtrooper Corp. This is an older variant of the armour but probably more modern than half of their fleet which is in serious need of a refit due to the aging technology. The Marines are mostly used to board other craft and the analogy that I have found repeated is that the "Navy is the launching tube for the torpedo that is the Marines." in this regard their military history certainly proves it, their marine corp works much like the Stormtrooper Corp without all the oppression and mindless slaughter - but similar battle role. Medegn in the Navy Command tend to be "lifers" who have sworn a life long duty to their posts which is only ended in either death or extreme ill health. Like other aspects of the Medegn society Military service is considered as play but serious play none the less. There are few in their military that dislike their duties, however since a great deal of downtime is spent playing or having sex especially on longer patrols. Typical service tends to be five to eight standard years, there seems to be no social stigma about not joining the military however and it is considered rather on the same sort of level as Historians or the Sciences. Each vessel is controlled by all personnel with the Syndic being headed by the Command Corp and their designated overall Commander. Much like wider society usually every standard ten days come together to discuss and debate issues related to their duties and the general running of the ship. It is considered poor form to ignore these meetings or to not attend.The Military sees themselves as protesters for the less advanced planets and species around and has defended them numerous times from more technologically advanced predator species or running aid convoys to worlds hit by disaster or famine. In this respect perhaps the original Columi plans to breed soldiers worked out after all but to what purpose is utterly unknowable.

Medegn society is mostly on par with the Galactic standard however due to their insular and isolationist policies they have been cut off from the rest of the Galaxy for the most part. Whilst the society has not stagnated since education, healthcare and food are readily available to all the need to keep advancing in areas such as the military is a difficult one due to the lack of outside trade with the larger Galaxy. Their military technology has significantly stagnated since the destruction of Coruscant and the rapid recession of non Sith Aligned Worlds and banking groups. For the Medegn this has meant arms and upgrades and new ships have almost totally dried up considerably forcing many in the Div-Supply to look into new methods of either building their own starships and weaponry or seeking new trade partners. There has been much talk of an agreement with Hutt space but it would be considered morally reprehensible and so it is the option of last resort. Thankfully not being a currency based species there has been no starvation or people losing their lifestyles due to the Galactic Recession but on a larger scale it has meant that schools do not have supplies, that increasing amounts of work has to be done by Medegns instead of droids and that Div-Lab is stretching reosurces incredibly thin and asking more and more Medegns to sign up for longer and longer maintenance duties.

Agriculturally the Medegn society produces most of it's food through large swathes of agri-corp droids and an army of mechanics and agri-workers who volunteer for the duty. It is generally considered polite that a Medegn should volunteer for intensive labour in the agri-corp at least twice in a standard year. Although most of the actual agri work is done by droids the job of maintaining the machines and the large harvesters and fishing networks means that it is considered one of the highest priority jobs in society especially with an ever expanding population. Although thanks to advances in genetically modifying food stuffs and plant life it has meant that there has been a food surplus almost every since the Medegns have settled the Ringworld but there have been previous famines and starvation though those have long past. The main issue is that repulsorlift craft cannot be used on the Ringworld since it has no gravity and it is only created by the spinning of the ring making repulsorlift and anti grav technology utterly useless meaning that any droids used must have traction or be walkers which slows down the process and increases the maintenance work considerably.

Transportation is handled by the Division of Transport or Div-Trans, and is another field that needs a more or less constant flow of volunteers to upkeep and maintain. Since repulsorlift craft are incapable of working on the Ringworld highspeed bullet trains were developed to transport goods and individuals to where they might be needed most. Although there is freedom of movement those using the transport on longer journeys are usually asked to help with loading and unloading goods so that the journey may continue faster. This form of transport has been exported to many worlds in the cluster and is even capable of operating underwater. Anyone can use the transport system since nobody owns it apart from those who work on it.

Living Standards tend to be quite high with the average life expectancy being 120 years. The oldest recorded is currently 200. With food, shelter, medicine and an unpolluted world living standards are difficult to accord with other societies but no one has died due to lack of resources being freely made available. There was a story a few years before our arrival that an Apex had died after not feeling confident enough to ask for help from the local Food-Syndic when his own food was stolen which sent shockwaves around their society and an investigation was launched into the failures of the community but this is an exceptionally rare event. Cities are usually tacked together as various art and architectural projects mingle together creating a sort of organic look to the cities, underwater it can be much the same appearance. While many Medegn choose to live underwater the majority of their species live as surface dwellers but near oceans and water. The Ringworld being largely made up of continent sized islands means that most of their habitats and large clusters of population tend to be around the edges of these, underwater habitats are common but tend to have much smaller populations of maybe twenty thousand to ten thousand whilst the largest cities can have a population reaching into the millions figures, the largest city is Lyle which is both above and underwater. It also happens to be the main migrant and tourist drop off point and where the majority of the Universities are which has a population of eight million. Most Medegn have University level of education that is recognised in the wider galaxy but it is not considered necessary in society and is usually done part time over many years.

Bourniak Is the Medegns most reliable outer link with the rest of the Galaxy and her reports are considered required viewing for any Medegn wishing to stay informed on Galactic Politics. Previously she served as a representative reporting directly to the GA committee of foreign affairs on a wide range of issues. her voice is highly respected and listened to within the society and her words hold sway over billions of her own kind. Over the past ten years her hatred of the Empire has become solid, she argues that her society needs to take a more proactive role in Galactic affairs and end the isolationist policy that has cut them off from the rest of the Galaxy for so long. She also believes that the Rebels should at the very least have trade with her people arguing that the few safe hyperroutes towards the Ring should be made available to the Alliance. She is also a multi-culturalist and believes that with wider contact perhaps more of the Galaxy can learn from the Medegn way but also that Medegn culture has stagnated, whilst there are many scholars and visitors who visit there are not enough who stay long enough to truly appreciate Medegn ways of doing things - quite often the Syndic system is misunderstood by outsiders.

Valkiriax is the founder of the largest Foreign Policy Syndic although no longer the functioning head of that Syndicate as any Syndic tends to have a limit on how many times a lead representative can be elected, his word is still well respected and well adhered to when it comes to dealing with foreign Governments. He is something of a natural conservative preferring to urge caution and has a slight disdain for outsiders. Nothing so bad as xenophobia but many accept his near bigotry as he has spent many years dealing with Governments and Trade groups trying to salvage and take advantage of his people and the Ringworlds largely untapped resources. He also has quite a deal of influence on the Military Syndics due to his own service record in which he defeated many piratical raiders, his influence is such that in the past ten years very few Medegn outfits have left to go fight in the Rebellion. Although he does not support the Empire he does not support the various Rebel Groups and believes that his species best chance for survival and retaining their unique culture lies in staying neutral.

Mujarin is in one of the few positions that is not always open to Direct Democracy in Medgegn and that is as head of the military. Mujarin rose to become one of the longest serving members of the military in recent memory and has repelled a not inconsiderable number of pirates and raiders who harass the system and it's trade every so often. He has a fierce reputation in his society. He is not one to back down from a fight but believes it is best that the Military stay out of the oncoming Rebellion as the small Navy they posses would easily be outmatched by the Empire. He is however sympathetic to Rebel groups and with both the Homeworld and the Ringworld having large Industrial production capabilities has been pushing for a third way that whilst they should remain a neutral system that supplying the Rebels or anyone who can provide with materials in exchange for more up to date weaponry and ships. Unlike Bourniak he believes that the safe hyperroutes into the system should remain secret and instead an exchange/trading outpost should be how they conduct their transactions.




Intent: To Empress or whoever decides to review this I realise you are probably very busy and so there is absolutely no rush on approving this. Intent is for fun player resource for possible usage in future missions by any particular faction, possible player character. Long story short is I got bored playing Skyrim and procrastinating essays and so I present you with this gifthorse. Anyone is free to make suggestions use this species modify them use them in their stories or character creation including the Shoah and use them in their own stories for whatever purposes. Or if you just want something long to read there is a section for everyone. Please do appreciate the not inconsiderable effort I put into making a believable Utopian society with a militaristic bent and the many parallels with the Jedi Order. I'm guessing other people have used Argonians to describe Trandoshans or other Reptilian species and such which is why I decided to make them an elder race and so they would have many offshot species so this in no way is meant to steal Argonians from any player. Other than that enjoy!

I have used the template... but it didn't fit the profile Kiro which is why I jumbled it around. It felt silly having one word answers to questions such as sentiance and then paragrapgh answers to others. The templete is in there it's just mixed around a tad.

I've only been around for a couple days but it does say in the rules for creating tech, planets, or species of any kind to stick to the absolute original format. It doesn't need to be "shiny" mate (:

Quite right. Any deviation means it won't be approved, especially as our Planets and Species admin, Empress/Adena, is very over-worked.

Honestly, the Strenghts and Weaknesses of this submission baffles me.

You start out by pointing out that they don't have great upper body strenght in Strenghts. And then in weaknesses, you state that something this species should naturally be good at (swimming, on a water world) takes alot of time for them to learn and become adept in? And why is this species more 'suceptible' to the Force, and especially the Dark Side? To my knowledge, the Force effects every living being more or less equally, unless you happen to be a Terentatek or a Vong. I understand you perhaps wanted to give them a special weakness, but that just seems... weird, to me.

Remember, when you create a species, you always need to think of a logical, reasonable, explanation for why that condition exists. Why they developed that behaviour. Why they evolved that unique feature, and how it benefited them in their natural habitat. Nature rarely does anything by accident, and when it does, only the accidents that work out in the positive for the species in question is that accident allowed to remain.

yeah, the joys of a drop down scrolling menu >.<

though Im going to approve it in general I do wanna see something brushed up on the force issue- tis not a major one to halt things, I read it as - they are more susceptible to it most likely due to mildly being attuned to it ( sort of like how some people are more prone to EMF sickness than others ETC ) so you may want to " explore" that one out a bit and fill it in more as it goes ( note I mean attuned but not really all force users- sort of like how Han's " solo luck" is considered more his own mild attunement )

Hey cheers I really appreciate that Empress, you know when I wrote it I was thinking more of the lines of epilepsy and how certain groups are more vulnerable to it. I had just undergone epilepsy training as part of my teaching degree haha. I'll get to work on it the now but cheers I really appreciate it. And the large slog it must have been for you. When I actually set out to make their weakneses I was trying to think of something balanced. being strong and built on mutual aid as a society just seemed... OP in the SW verse so making them weak to users of the Force seemed like something I could balance them out with.
