MARCUS MOR

"I travel in the light, and always have. The darkness has loomed over me many times. The Sith have laid ruin to much of what we love, the evils of this galaxy relentless throughout time. And yet, by the same vein, the light that shines from the good of the Force is just as persistent. And by that light I live.

My former master was one of the most influential people in my life. He taught me how to control my power, a power I didn't even know I had. He taught me how to focus and learn to see things through the Force. This sight is my power, tenfold greater than my eyes and ears and touch combined.

Now as I grow into a leaderful Jedi General, that same master dies - that everpresent darkness rearing its ugly head. That day is the day another shadow fell over me. As the Jedi Crusaders fight for what is right and to stomp out the threat of the Sith, I must serve whilest at the same time look for answers. And for now, I rely on my training, my experience, and my faith in the Force.

For I know that there is no death in the Force, but only the light of the Force itself."

Jedi Marcus is an older student of the Jedi ways since he did not start his formal training until he was much older. He was a talented and very mindful ranger on his outer rim homeworld before being discovered as a Force adept just before he turned 20. For the next 8 years he would train under the one who discovered him, Master Brax, throughout the battles that would plague the Jedi. Marcus carries a debt to this master to this day as he fights for the order. While his experience over the ext 10 years gave him much more strength and focus and control over his emotions, the events that unfold after finding his former master killed on the same day. Even as a Jedi General, he is plagued by this news, although he hides it well.

Marcus' personality could be described as straight-forward and purposeful. He says what he means, and he does what he says. However, he is not always conscientious of what other people are feeling or how others are perceiving him in the moment. He is very strong in the sensing side of the Force, and so his natural empathy has grown since his training began, but he still misses the spot of others' emotions from time to time. He is very loyal and trustworthy.

EARLY HISTORY

Marcus was born in an outer rim system near Naboo, in one of the bigger cities on the planet. While it had sky-scrapers, it was nothing like the city-worlds in the core. But there his family raised him, his father in trade goods and his mother a teacher. His older brother would become a teacher and an artist.

Marcus however would turn out to be a bit of a black sheep. While he was not shunned by his family, he still was not a businessman or teacher or artist. Instead, his mind was of the engineering and technical type. In fact, one might say he had a certain knack for figuring things out. It was as if he knew where the pieces came from or were supposed to go in almost every puzzle.

This skill became much more difficult to prove and to hone, and manifested itself less obviously as he became a teenager. His frustrations with not having a verifiable trade or profession were usually offset by his innate agility and empathy. He was still good at figuring things out and when he focused he seemed to be able to do a great many things. He applied this knack to technology.

That would only get him so far without getting into trouble. Marcus soon learned that meddling in technology - and not working for a government entity or reputable business (like his father's trade guild) - was dangerous. He had several warrants on the holonet he had to work off and was frequently leaving home for short stints to stay away from those who would do him harm.

While on one of these off-world jaunts, a Jedi named Brax recognized that ability in him. While he was older than some preferred for starting training, he was nonetheless discovered as a Force Adept and it was time he started working towards a new goal. The Jedi needed more Crusaders anyway. But could Marcus be convinced?

JEDI PATH

His first and only master, the one who found him, Jedi General Brax, began to show him what his agility and force abilities really meant. He wasn't just lucky at figuring things out; he wasn't just a technology geek - the Force surrounded him and he channeled it in those unique ways. His mind, with the Force, was its own hyper sensitive core. Marcus was an empath and even had a good bit of foresight.

Could that be applied to the true Jedi ways? Could his calling be changed to the way of Ashla? The short answer was yes.

But not without difficulty. Marcus was not mean or rude, nor did he show signs of the dark side. In fact, he steered quite clear of the dark side, almost fearing it in a way - something with which he would have to reckon one day. But he was stubborn, occasionally grumpy, and thought he could do things on his own. Over many years with his master, Marcus learned to focus and meditate to get better results. He slowly learned the art of wielding two lightsabers, and began to favor shorter saber blades, sometimes referred to as shotos. He can wield a single blade easily, but he excels at the duals. And to add to that skillset, he began to harness the basic area of telekinesis and eventually became an excellent user of pushing, slamming, or even ground-quaking using the Force.

Still brash and ornery, Marcus became a fine example Jedi fighter, being Knighted before he turned 28. He was a perfect companion for his master, and they learned from each other, adventured together, and lived life and fought battles as two Jedi quite well together. He even gained a few friends along the way who became close confidants in the fight against the Sith and other evils.

Marcus would continue to learn and become strong in the Force. He would become an excellent swordsman - not the best by any means, but using his highly attuned senses, his dual blades in close proximity, and his telekinesis to either get in close proximity or to thwart his opponents directly gave him the edge he most often needed. And if he spent enough time in meditation (trance) ahead of time, things were much more clear to him than otherwise.

One fateful day, bad news hit. His master, and best friend, was killed in battle, presumably done in by the Sith or their cohorts. Marcus handled the onslaught of emotions well at first. But things would weigh heavily on him as the weeks passed. Marcus would have to turn that drive and focus and empathy and foresight towards a new direction. He had missions to complete on his own and with his new padawan now, as the Jedi Crusaders continued to fight.

That new padawan, who he knew well, who was training under Master Brax a bit, would become his close friend soon as well. She was young, but had a fresh outlook on things. Their partnership and training would begin in earnest once the events above unfolded.

But could he deal with his duties as well as these new emotional burdens at the same time? Only time would tell. The Jedi needed warriors and leaders, and Marcus was a keen General. But emotional warriors were turning to the dark side way more often than the order wanted or expected. That fine line was closer than most thought for Marcus...

SKILLS

Stats

STRENGTH: Average strength, although it is definitely not a focus for him. Marcus is in good shape and athletic, but he is by no means physically powerful.
DEXTERITY: Marcus is fairly nimble, although most of that is due to his training, aided by the Force. He is not overly dextrous, but can flit around well in combat and hide or move silently fairly well.
CONSTITUTION: Marcus has a moderate fortitude and overall health. Nothing exceptional here.
INTELLIGENCE: This Jedi was never one for books and study, although he did what was required of him for learning tactics and history and such. He was always skilled technically, but he would discover later that it was not necessarily his brain that made him skilled, but the aid of the Force.
WISDOM (key): Marcus excels in his connection to the Force, to a great extent actually. While he is not a sage, and his age does not lend wisdom as naturally as others, he is very thoughtful and focused. The Force flows through his mind and he can see and sense with that close connection.
CHARISMA: The man is awkward in large groups or with people he does not know. However, he still shows his power with the Force when needed. In fact, his aura in the Force can be quite brilliant or potent to those who can sense it. So while he comes across as quiet and somber and perhaps even nervous at times, this introspective nature gives him a hint of show!

Force Use
Marcus is quite adept at using the Force in his age and after many years of training. While he focuses on certain areas, he has tapped into other spaces as needed. His master and his experience have taught him well, and his battles and missions and new padawan will likely teach him more. That said, there are several areas that are of major importance to his work in the Force.

FORCE TELEKINESIS: Marcus does not use TK in any sort of impractical sense - moving objects around frivolously. But he does use it in one somewhat potent way. Force Push. And this extends beyond a simple push, but more into slamming multiple targets, hitting non-living objects into pieces, or slamming the ground in a quake to make his opponents stumble or simply affect the area around him. It can be quite disturbing and he has to be careful not to allow too much emotion into this area of the Force.
FORCE SENSE: Marcus is extremely gifted with this area of the Force, having a very high level of sensing and sight, including foresight. This helps him in battle, and in mundane activities. It is almost a way of amplifying his abilities much the way acrobatics does in the Force.
FORCE TRANCE: As he grows as a Jedi, Marcus has begun to explore future sight and other activities in relation to space and time. He is by no means a sooth-sayer, but he has a knack for helping in what have been called "seer circles" and the like, trying to find out as much as possible ahead of time - even hints from the Force - for missions and endeavors. If he can meditate in a trance before a mission or battle, this usually gives him an additional edge.
LIGHTSABER COMBAT: Marcus is a decent combatant, excelling with two short sabers (also called Shotos). He is almost always aided by his sensing ability, almost able to predict his opponents' next moves, and his telekinesis.

Equipment

Marcus typically has the following items on his person, in his belt or a couple pouches he has attached to his belt or pants.
  • Standard Jedi clothing
  • Jedi outer robes (weather protections)
  • Lightsabers (see above)
  • Survival pack
  • Basic Medkit
  • Commlink
  • Code cylinders
  • Small datapad
  • Stun baton on most missions

GREYCLOAK TRANSPORT

This classic fighter vessel, dubbed the "Greycloak Transport", is General Marcus's main means of travel. It is small, and yet not very nimble. It only holds three people max and very little cargo. It is not very fast at light speed, and it is just an old beat-up machine. That said, it is a reliable piece of machinery and does what Marcus needs.

Basic Stats

Model: Modified Cloakshape fighter

Class: Fighter/Interceptor (used as personal transport)

Length: 15m

Speed: 50 MGLT (Atmospheric 1,000 km/h)

Hyperdrive: Installed, Class 1.5

Armament: 2 x Light Lasercannons, 1 x Concussion missile launcher, 1 x Ion cannon, radial deflector shields

Personnel: 1 pilot, 2 passengers

Cargo: 40kg + 2 weeks supplies
