Just an interest gauge here.

How would you guys feel about doing some actual training threads?

It seems like we as Mandalorians make much less use, proportionally, of our training grounds than the GA and Imperials. I'm thinking things along the lines of small unit tactics, marksmanship and hand to hand combat instruction, or things along those lines. We're supposed to all be skilled warriors, but I figured something like this might be good for character development, as quantifiable training akin to what the other factions do, and as an RP aid- the more you know about fighting, the more you read and learn the more detail you can include in your IC posts.

Once I'm in a better internet situation, I wouldn't mind teaching some classes, if anyone's interested. If anyone else feels confident giving a good class on a military type skill of some sort, it might be good to have a couple of "trainers" amongst us.

I'm currently training the Chai La squad and anyone else that wants to join in, in Jump tactics, proper use of Grav chutes and Drop pods, as well as combat jumps and night Jumps, I like the idea of making more use out of the training threads.

I saw your thread, and that's kind of what inspired this. It's good to see people stepping up. I'd start doing stuff now, but I don't have regular or reliable internet at the moment.

well, after my jedi master succeeds from the order and becomes a mandolorian i'm applying for admiral position. I'll start stimulating training threads left and right, it's my forte

Alright, we've got people willing to give classes, that's good. What classes would you guys like to see/take?

I know I'm not the only one here with actual military experience- is there anything in the realm of real world military things that you guys would like to learn, that would be useful and applicable in an RP sort of way (sort of like what Jenna is doing with the jump training)? I'm sure the collective military knowledge here could cover quiet a bit of fun stuff. Plus, I'm thinking the more real we can make things, the better we sound when we're out there RPing against other factions, reppin' the best damn faction there is

I would like to see some mock combat scenarios.
MOUT (military Operations in Ubran Terrain)
CQC and CQB training
NBC training (never know what the Empire or other enemies will throw at us)
Alternate terrain training, Jungle, Mountain, Desert, Aquatic.
Vehicle training (Tanks, APCs, Walkers)
Weapons Drills.

That's a lot of the sort of stuff I was thinking of, I just wasn't sure if there would be enough interest to get participation in classes. I could teach a couple of those.

In fact, after the main battle thread finishes, I'm thinking about relocating my character and team to Mandalore to set up a proper training system. It may work out well for you folks in our special forces squads, to get some concentrated training on real world type tactics and skills. It would lend us some legitimacy I think.

That is, of course, if there is enough collective interest to do so.

I am in and well I think there will be newer courses after Arm releases his project he has been working on. I saw what he built for the Imperial Knights [[I requested and use it]] and Archangel based Basilisk's and suits. We are going to have so many new toys I mean tech.

Training threads would be a good welcome, I usualy only reserved them for Recruits, but basic training to brush up or other things would be good. I actualy considered doing one aswell.

That settles it then. When the battle threads are resolved, and I get some time, I'll start us out a training/class thread- I'm thinking basic marksmanship, rifle/carbine tactics, and maybe a sort of urban ops training if we're feeling up for it?

Then from there I can refine things and move on to more specialized and harder to teach skills.

Great initiative, Loco and Jenna. I really like all these ideas I'm seeing. I'd love to see coordinated, large-scale exercises. I think they would be a fun way to go about training, too... Mandalorian territory has a host of uninhabited worlds that we could use for live fire and invasion-type battlefield simulations. We could do everything from fleet movement, to deploying dropships to the planet surface, to taking over prefabricated compounds guarded by droids... and the benefits from that sort of training aren't exclusive to your everyday grunt. Every Mandalorian could get something out of it.
