Planet Makeb, Talaos City
Dice
Esfir Radin wearing her normal attire walked through a filth ridden street. The stench and misery before her eyes reminded the Sahminian why she preferred the countryside. Of course the mountain woman wasn’t exactly here on a tour anyway. Rather, it was Alliance business.

A group of refugees from the now war torn Imperial Hutta were confined to the city’s slum quarters. Alliance were alerted that local authorities will be turning these people over to the Imperials soon. If that happens they will suffer in the Sith’s slave camps. It is why Esfir finds herself with a squad of rebels turning the next corridor.

Our objective is to make contact with the refugee leader three blocks away and escort his people out of there. Then smuggle them inside one of our transports.

In her heart the new rebel had a feeling this won’t be an easy task. What was most curious is she found herself under the command of a woman who happened to be related to the infamous Drast family. While Esfir never really suffered under the reign of the Sith but had with nobles from her home world. The new recruit was wary of taking orders from someone who had royal blood and a force user at that.

The huntress kept a wary eye on the other young woman leading in front of the squad as they near their destination posing as mercenaries.

Similarly disguised as a mercenary, Alysanne walked with a fake swagger, right hand resting on the Lullaby holstered on her right hip, her other blaster hidden inside her jacket, though missing a lightsaber as she had returned the one she had borrowed from Valentine soon after Corellia. She felt a little weird in the clothes she was wearing, but it was the sensible thing to do and would make the task at hand a whole lot easier.

Looking back over her shoulder at the squad, most of them unknowns to her, she wished she had some of Red or Star squadron with her. In many ways she was still the frightened young girl who had joined the rebellion two years ago, and wished for the comfort of familiarity, but she was also mature enough to realize that things couldn't always be that easy. Besides, she was sure every single member of the squad was more than competent and had earned the trust of the council to have been sent here.

Having already spoken with most of the squad on the flight here, taking a page from Grey's book and how he worked so well with his squads because he knew them so well, she realized the only one she didn't know at this point was the one how had been introduced to her as Esfir. As another member of the squad moved up to recon the corridors ahead of them, Alys fell back to fall in step with the other woman.
"I don't think we've been introduced. They say it's easier to face a storm if you know who you're facing it with. Looks like we'll have trouble soon enough, so how about the crash course in introductions?" A lopsided grin appeared on her face as she hoped that had been enough to break the ice. "I'm Alysanne, Alysanne Drast, spawn of the devil!" She had heard words like that being used to describe her on more than one occasion over the years, and had made her peace with it. Specially now that she realized how much untapped comic potential it provided!

The new rebel had turned her head away from the Drast woman only for a moment when suddenly she stepped back alongside her! For a second the former mercenary thought something was wrong until Alysanne introduced herself. Needless to say Esfir did not expect such a thing and it showed in her confused expression. What is this highborn playing at? The exile wondered but did not air those words out loud.

Of course the strange thing is Alysanne did not come across arrogant or condescending like many of the nobles proved to be back home. The self-mockery at her blood ties took Esfir aback. What kind person of royal status does that she wondered. For a few seconds the exile was a bit speechless as they walked before managing to say.

“Uh...I am Esfir Radin of Sahmina, thank you for your greetings.”

There was an awkward silence for a few seconds when she added. “Why call yourself a spawn?”

Alys smiled when Esfir introduced herself, nodded in acknowledgment, and even letting out a small chuckle on hearing the question that followed. "Everyone else does, might as well own the name. Can't use it against you when you own up to it." It had taken her some time to come to terms with that fact, but her tutelage under both Aurora and Valentine had helped her grow past her insecurities regarding her name.

She was about to say more when the comlink in her ear clicked, and a voice spoke up, one of rebels who had gone ahead to scout reporting back to them. "Head up, contact up ahead!" Alys went into Jedi mode at once, hands dropping to her side as she pulled out her blasters, and smile vanishing from her face. "Everyone on alert, we've got company! After me!"

With that she charged ahead, coming to a stop at the corner and peeking around to look into the corridor beyond, spotting the single armed man standing there. Where their scout was she did not know, but she did know that they had to take this soldier out to move on. Her blaster on stun, as it almost always was, she fired off a shot at him before ducking back aroudn the corner, but not before noticing the shot go way off target and hit a fire alarm that was on the far wall, triggering it. Even as the wails started to ring, possibly alerting more guards of their presence, she looked to the other members of the squad.

"Just one for now, but I might have summoned more!"

Heavens preserve us! Thought Esfir, as her companion not only failed to hit the target but also the trigger the alarm. Sure enough another guard came rushing in to join his, shouting. Seeing no point for subtlety, Esfir turned the corner to fire her blaster two round burst but missed entirely. In reaction the rushing guard spotted her through the darkness and shot back.

His blaster bolt cut off the edge of Esfir’s left shoulder, causing the exile to hiss in agony. Sne fall behind the corridor with the rest of the team. “What a way to start a mission.” She whispered through gritted teeth.
