Alsaka is an ancient world of prestige and power. Many of the world's commoners are part of the extensive aristocracy that has controlled the planet for millennia - offering an odd sort of social stability and democracy to an unbearably elitist world. Collectively, Alsakani look down upon the galaxy with their noses up.
It was into this noble tradition that Makar de Nolay was born. Raised in a deputy branch of bureaucrats in the De Nolay house, Makar always had an adventurous side that his prudish parents despised. He excelled in sailing, rhetoric, boxing (above all else), but nothing could truly keep his attention. His family responded with increasingly drastic punishments - sending him to be a squire in the descendents Knights of Shalharra, transferring him from tutor to tutor, and finding him a university with a bride-to-be from a well-to-do house.
He rejected all of this and ran off to the New Republic's military, eager to sail the stars in a daring conflict against the Sith. The New Republic deterioration and eventual evaporation dampened the fun of his military escapades, but it was greater fuel for his ambitions. The Core was more vulnerable now than ever - and the remaining blocs of the Independent Systems' Consortium and the Empire flipped the balance of power that had served his planet comfortably for thousands of years. Now, the Outer Rim was the powerbroker, and the Core desperate consumers.
Naturally, then, collapse of the New Republic led to a political crisis. In this crisis, Makari found an opportunity. He resigned from the New Republic and began his own campaign, leaning heavily on his family name & military background. Even with these assets, he barely edged out a win for a senatorial race, already the least popular Senator in recent history due to his young age & unorthodox activities. He strives to win over his people, and the rest of the galaxy, to a common cause. The true nature of his 'cause' is yet unknown.

Makari is skilled in combat, owing to his years on his planet's Defense Force. However, with his specialization as a medic, he's not a great shot - more just cool-under-fire. Has a base understanding of field medicine and xenobiology as a result, too.
He also is a public speaker, naturally, as a senator. He was champion of his academy's boxing program, but that was years ago.
