Okay, so I'm brooding over this idea for an mtg rp for all of my fellow planeswalkers out there, and would like to know who'd be interested in starting this sucker up with me. I personally am excited to embark on this journey, and think it'd be a fun idea to try out.

So, here's how I'm thinking of DMing this; essentially, I'll keep our enemies populated and the events happening - as well as having mysteries unraveled when the time comes - and our characters will keep the story going with each decision they make. Note: our actions very much affect the final outcome of the story, and just like how our characters can die in swerp, they can die here.

As a fairness statement, if any character is stuck in a situation where their death is the only outcome, it will solely be because they got themselves there. I will by no means institute any kind of situation where a character has no choice but to be killed off - unless it is my own, or a request by the player has been made.

That being said, here's the template for characters if you're interested in signing up;

Small portrait of your character
Name
Race
Age
Sex
Mana Type [can be one, two, or all even]
Type of Spellcaster [i.e. wizard, druid, hexmage, cleric, etc.]
Planeswalker: Y/N? [are they a planeswalker? If not, more will be explained about the plane the story takes place on.]
Job [i.e. pilot, soldier, researcher, assassin, etc.]
Weapons [if any]
equipment [within reason]
Known spells [limit cap at 5 or 6]

Planeswalkers are unique to mtg, and are considered the most powerful mages. That being said, they can all die. Even Nicol Bolas is not entirely invincible [though he's never come close to dying yet]. If your character is a planeswalker, there are a few things I ask you to follow; don't be consistently planeswalking in and out to escape death or having to fight, your character isn't able to instakill anything that is considered to be a tought opponent, your character still has limitations, and planeswalking still requires mana to do. Limitations would be basic RP rules as featured on the site - no godmodding, metagaming, etc. And most importantly, as you will discover, we are each important to each other. I won't stop you from trying to pvp, but working together will assuredly benefit you more than working along. To further emphasize, your enemy in this story wants to break our team apart.

Mana
Mana in this rp will behave similar to the force. It's required for magic to happen, and it's not unlimited. Once used, characters will feel the depletion physically, and will need to recover i.e. absorb more mana from the environment. Now, given the type of environments this story will take place in, and because it wouldn't be fair to restrict mana to their types when in its story it's described as all types being free-flowing, when you're in an area that doesn't specifically radiate your type of mana, your character will simply take longer to fully recover. To give an example; in a swamp environment, a black mage may take one full post to recover from spellcasting before casting again, while a blue made would take two full posts. At that point, physical weapon skills would be useful to have.

Mana types are further broken down as such; white, red, blue, green, and black. Red mages draw mana from mountains, white from plains, blue from islands/seas, green from forests, and black from swamps. There can be, of course, those who are multiple types i.e. blue-black, red-white, etc.

Spells
Spells are divided as such; abilities, enchanting, and summoning. each spell costs mana to use, and for reference, use this site to look up actual cards, or you can use your own creative ideas. Now remember, powerful spells will cost more mana. the bigger the spell, the higher the cost.

Lastly, the Story.

So here's the concept; the plane is a previously undiscovered plane called "Vefora," a plane rich with mana as unique as Zendikar. It's a cyberpunk-styled plane with elves, humans, orcs, and Kor living a semi-harmonized life in massive city-states that are protected from the natural dangers of the plane by walls. There are four cities, which hub four factions that divide this world; The humans reign in the trade capital of Hadimma (primary colors are green and white), elves thrive in the harmonious and politically-correct citadel-city of Iyund (primary colors are green and blue), orcs rule in the military fort-city of Kahv (primary colors are red and white), and the kor live in the mana-rich floating city of Sadib (primary colors are white and blue). All four races travel between each other, and share with each other what their unique cultures offer. This, of course, doesn't come without animosity between some of the races, and prejudices held. The peace between them is steady, but fragile.
The wilds of this plane, aside from the drama of the four factions, are ripe with unique environments that produce fascinating and ferocious creatures special to this plane; wurms of blue and green mana with powerful psychic abilities that set them apart from their less-intellectual cousins of other planes - all the while still being massive serpentine beasts, blue-and-black-mana vampires that build well-fortified castles for themselves deep in the ocean-bordering swamps of the eastern coasts, and even green drakes patrolling the forests.
But something else adds to the dangers of this plane; something that even threatens to consume life on the plane itself, and leave it as dry an motionless as the Eldrazi did to so many planes before Zendikar. This nameless horror shrouds itself in thick clouds, and produces other terrors that plague those crazy enough to try and survive outside of the cities. Even massive air cruisers have gone missing without explanation. With the threat growing ever stronger, Vefora cries out for heroes to ensure its survival - even the least likely of them.

I'm looking for four extra players aside from myself. If you're interested, sign up; this will also serve as our OOC board. And, if someone is feeling inventive enough and wants to help orchestrate the story and planned events, PM me and I'll give you details I'm looking for - this is first come, first serve.

Sure thing! My responsiveness might be a bit slow as this week is wild for me irl, but we can still get this rp up and running. I'll post my own character profile here soon, once I have a moment to breath.
