OOC: Despite widespread chaos, there are still criminals loyal to the Empire in Imperial Hutta. Some of these, smugglers and vagabonds, are attempting to get coaxium off of Kessel and into the hands of Imperial cargo ships. Destroy these smuggling vessels and show the criminals (and the Empire) that the Mandalorians do not fear the Akkadese Maelstrom and the Maw within.

There were plenty of things to do while one waited in the darkness of space. Burkhart had his personal Waxa class scout ship, the Effervescent, scanning constantly for the possible signatures of enemy contacts or other anomalies as it navigated the tunnels. He had his droids in the back for the time being along with one of his warriors with a repair box. Things could get hairy very quickly in space and even more in this troublesome space scape. He had one if his warriors manning the weapon controls of the dorsal mounted cannon turret. He was wearing his personal beviinir armor with only freshly painted Jaig Eyes. He reached up to touch the temple of his helmet for a moment before lowering his hand back to the controls.

Opening the channel so those in his ship and those in his group were ready he spoke to make sure his warriors were ready. "Alright vode. We got some squirrelly smugglers carrying coaxium that are going to be rendezvousing with some imperial cargo ships. We're going to blow those di'kut out of the sky before they can make a prayer to their emperor. Watch your spacing, stick together, shoot straight." He earned confirmed responses from the three manned marev wingmates.

He knew Dio was close by in his own ship and with him was the Morling's fellow clan mate Radth Kelborn. The clan was spaced out across the galaxy or at least had been until recently. It was a time for firsts and this would have him see how well his kin dealt with conflict in the field.

Rayne was nearby @Burkhart Kelborn's ship, sitting comfortably in the marev she'd been lent for this mission, she currently smoking a deathstick, something the Rally Master would likely get a bit peeved about if he ever found out she was smoking in his ship, but she just laughed and shrugged off the thought of it. They had had a bit of a rough start in their relationship, what with @Burkhart Kelborn trying his dam hardest to bar Rayne from initial entry to the Clan, but since then had become the very best of aquintences, and they spoke almost once every week!

Rayne had to admit though, the guy had some good ambitions, he wanted to expand the faction, bring up new commandos, and strengthen the Kelborn name. It had historically been a small, widespread clan based on high combat efficiency and quick shadowy tactics, originally what called her to it, but she agreed with almost everything the Rally Master wanted for the Clan, even if the two of them had yet to really form any sort of meaningful relationship.

Finally, @Burkhart Kelborn called out, on the closed comm system that their targets had entered target range, and Rayne was all too eager to prove herself in front of the Rally Master. Putting her deathstick out on the durasteel, Rayne tossed it into the pile of half a dozen or so that she'd already smoked and check to see that her entire armament was fully prepared to come to bare.

Coaxium was dangerous, and explosive, Rayne couldn't remember whether or not the Rally Master had wanted it recovered, or just blown to all hell, based on his speech, she guessed it was either or, and she was perhaps more than a little excited to see a small freighter full of the stuff go boom in the darkness of space.

"Armed and Dangerous.." Rayne replied over the comms, dragging the final S out a bit, she knew @Burkhart Kelborn didn't like it much when she replied with such unprofessionalism, the Kelborn's after all were supposed to be the stoic sort, and Rayne's outspoken neuroticness didn't quite conform to sort of thing.

Diocletian was in his ship watching the screens for any signs of their quarry. This was not his first time working with Burkhart, but it was his first time working with the rest of the Morling’s clan. Speaking of that clan, there was a member of it on his own ship currently. Dio had not really had a chance to speak to his passenger before they had to leave so he was not very familiar with the Kelborn on his ship. What he did know was that Burkhart vouched for that person so Dio was confident that they knew the job and would be effective in combat.

Dio had ben raiding for years but those raids had been primarily on the ground. This was a chance for him to test his skills in space combat and he was itching to get started. He checked and rechecked his screens, considering each possible move by their Imperial targets. He knew they would be somewhat tied to the cargo ships and that would lower their maneuverability. The need for coaxium was a constant across the galaxy and this would be a good haul for either the Imperials or the Mandalorians, whomever won this impending battle.

Checking his instruments once more he heard Burkhart speaking to his sister ships. He sent the confirmation that he had heard the message, no need in tying up the comms and risking revealing his position. He had found a nice little interstellar cloud to hide his ship and its signature in. It would allow him to be the surprise when the attack started. The space dust and other matter in the cloud would hide his signature from instruments and give the little ambush another advantage when the combat started.

Radth had done raids on the ground, but this is the first time he will be participating in a raid out in the middle of no where in space. Supposedly there is a good size shipment of coaxium that they are going to try to steal or to destroy the ships carrying the precious cargo. Well since his own ship is a bit too broken down at the moment to be of any use to anyone or himself, Burkhart had him tag along in Diocletian's ship to man the guns when the job starts. Well he does not know the other Mando that well or how good his flying skills are. But from what he has heard others say, his host is a good pilot. And if Burkhart will vouch for him, then Radth will do as his fellow Kelborn says and tag along with the Solus pilot regardless of what the warrior himself thinks.

As he waited for word from Burkhart to begin the job, Radth was at the turret familiarizing himself with the controls. Yes he has done this before as far as manning turrets, but each ships controls are a bit different as far as how touchy they are. So as he and his host waited, the Mando mucked around with some of the controls without touching the trigger. The turret was a bit touchy but he will be able to handle it well enough to get the job done.

As this is the first time he is on a mission with his fellow vode, this is his chance to show what he is capable of and that he can handle combat related stress and excitement. Feeling confident with his ability to handle the turret controls, Radth will turn them off to prevent the turret from disturbing the dust and other matter of the cloud. Though with how soupy the cloud is he doubted the slight movements of the turret was enough to disturb the cloud.

The wolves were at the Imperial's door. It was an appropriate saying considering the Kelborn Clan's sigil was two wolves. He was glad to see more of his clan taking an active roll on attacks against the Empire and their associates. Times were changing and while the mandalorian wolves would continue to uphold their reputation of shadow bound guile they would still venture out into recognition.

There were handful of freighters ahead leaving the planet's atmosphere. The Imperial transport would not enter the mealstrom most likely and was nowhere in sight. The Effervescent's engines activated and it moved forward out of the tunnel made of cloud towards the planet. Hearing Rayne's response he nodded "alrright vode let's moove." He was feeling pretty dangerous.

It did not take his ship long and the smugglers saw them coming. But they were not prepared for an outright battle this close to their take off. They probably thought whomever would attack them would want to steal their cargo but Burkhart had not intention of doing so. His gunner began firing the moment they were in range. They were not taking evasive maneuvers making them easy targets. The first volley would hit their shields but take a significant portion down.

@Nommie @Critas @Mad Dog no need to post in order, just do one post per round.

The star fighter leapt to life all at once, it's engines, missiles, and lasers all kicking on at the same time nearly incinerating one of the freighter's engines shortly after beginning, the much slower concussion missile smacking into the now exposed hull of the slow moving freighter. They say coaxium can become deadly explosive if jostled, Rayne figured it was pretty jostled by now.. and was more than a little disappointed whe the freighter she had just straifed over didn't immediately implode ok itself.

Turning her attention to the next freighter within easy eye sight, she and the other Kelborn star fighters began to let loose their volleys, firing a total of eight laser bursts, literally filling the emptyness of space with bright fire.

Expertly Rayne spun her fighter on its axis to avoid what little fire the enemy ships pitifully tried to respond with, all the while returning an overwhelming number of blasts to any section of their ships that was unfortunate enough to fall prey to her.

She knew she had come with three missiles, and was itching more than anything to let the other two out of their tube.

As the Overhead was brought into range of the freighters, Radth started opening up on them with the turret he is manning The Kelborn wondered how good imperial shields are and how long they will hold before the freighters start to take damage. With the pilots of the freighters possibly not expecting to be attacked so soon after taking off, they were not taking evasive action just yet. So for now they are sitting ducks so to speak. So there is a good possibility of the freighters receiving a lot of damage before the pilots of the freighters start getting their act together.

Personally the Kelborn hoped that the pilots are a bunch of flunkies who will have no idea what to do and wind up doing something that will make their situation worse than what it already is. The warrior was itching to take one of these shipments down. He wanted to take this prey down and take it down hard.

Diocletian waited until the freighters were engaged with the main force of Clan Kelborn before moving from within the dust cloud he had been hiding in. He targeted one of the Imperial support ships that was tagging along with the convoy to protect it from just what the Mandalorians were trying to do. As they moved past his position, he kicked the engines into overdrive and exploded from within the cloud, hitting their flank in his first pass. Sighting in on the first support ship, he saw it peel off from the main force to address the immediate threat that his ship had just presented to the convoy.

Dio smiled grimly and set the targeting computer to lock on the support ship. As he heard the loud beeping of the lock, he jammed the firing button on proton torpedo tube one and then the button for tube two as well. He could see the two torpedoes arc out from his Overhead Pirate as they streamed towards their locked in target. As he watched the impending death of the support ship, he turned the Badger’s Fury as he had named the ship, in a tight barrel roll, allowing both the dorsal and ventral cannons the ability to pepper the freighter’s shields. He called on the ship’s communications, “Hold on” as he made the maneuver. He knew his gunner was strapped in, or at least he hoped he was.

As he flew, Dio could feel the Fury shudder as the recoil from its laser cannon turrets fired at the convoy. He hoped that the Kelborn that Burkhart had assigned as his gunner for this attack knew his stuff. They had never fought together but Dio trusted Burkhart with his life. On more than one occasion the Morling had been there for him and he could only assume that his clan would be the same. There had been that one time on Nar Shaddaa when they had acquired their Disruptor pistols. That had been an experience he would never forget. It was never easy to throw all caution to the winds but Dio had in that case and Burkhart had risen to the occasion. With that in mind he had no doubt that anyone the Morling trusted enough to call clan brother, he could trust as well.

Hard contact was an understatement. The smugglers must have been wise because they already had crew members in their turrets. Burkhart's ship kept firing. A volley of shots that initially hit the shields of the enemy were starting to make their way through. Shots struck the surface of the ship's hull. There were numerous light freighters and the Verde under his command engaged with aggression that Clan Kelborn were known for. While Solus clan members were known for the furious attack Kelborn clan was a cold savagery that was unrelenting until it was completely done.

Shots of laser cannon fire criss crossed the darkness of space. It was a dog fight all right. People always assumed that an enemy only focused on the one directly fighting them but in this case one of the freighters that his wingmates was fighting decided to shoot at his ship as well. Luckily it was only a glancing blow and the smuggler's ship was quickly destroyed afterwards.

There was no point in focusing his shields in any direction considering the chaotic nature of the dog fight. Any second his fore or aft could be facing the enemy and he was not about to take the time and risk the opening for a potential benefit that might never come in handy. Risk assessment needed to be done fast in this case and experience certainly helped in that department.

Burkhart manuevered to come in behind Dio's ship. The Effervescent was notably faster than the Badger's Fury and would catch up to the freighter that was trying to make a break for it. The scout ship's gunnner opened up a stream of fire repeatedly. "Take tha Di'kut down!" He called to his gunner. The Morling's words maybe had an affect or maybe the gunner was just that good because the last ship that was making a break for it just got the opening of the tunnel of astral clouds before exploding. The coaxium inside detonated intensly in the void of space in a flash of light. All the other ships that Burkhart's contingent were fighting with were dealt with in the same way it would seem but luckly no real fight had been put up. "Alright lads. Let's get outta here."
