Malkav caught the training lightsaber and carefully studied it. So this is the legendary weapon of the Jedi..?

Training weapon he reminded himself.

He lightly pushed the button and the saber came to life in a light blue beam of energy. It glowed faintly...what a pretty weapon..

hehehehehehehe

He shrugged the voices out of his head and turned to face his master...

Malkav didn't drink, so he didn't know what a all night binge felt like. He soon found out when the saber stung his skin and shook his nerves. Training was a painful process he would soon become familiar with.

A few hours later they were fighting once more after only stopped for a few short breaks from the time they started. Sweat poured down Malkavs face and down his body, but the master seemed barely any more than a bit winded. He knew it would come to a end soon, as it always did with the saber striking his body.

He had caught the principles of fighting with a lightsaber (or so he though) and was able to defend or dodge some of his masters attacks. However, he was almost always completely on the defensive, parrying and blocking attacks that seemed to come from all around him at once.

And then it happened. Malkav had moved his training saber to block a attack from up above. But in a amazingly executed move, his master completed the faint and brought his saber quickly around his student and struck him in the arm.

More pain flooded through Malkav, and he doubled over clutching his arm. His master disengaged his lightsaber and approached Malkav....

REVENGE!

Malkav whipped around in a uncontrollable fury and lunged at Jacen. His master ignited his training saber and they were once again in battle, but this one more heated, ironically, the tables had turned. It was now Malkav who was on the offensive, launching strikes to his masters left, swinging the saber while aiming for his torso, stabbing and thrusting in his blind fury. Perhaps his master was toying with him, but thoughts like those did not register in Malkav's mind at that moment. There was only the stinging pain in his arm, and the blinding anger that followed......

Jacen had disengaged his lightsaber when he feared he had hurt his padawann. As Malkav came swinging Jacen overcame his initial shock. There wasn't any chance for Malkav to actually beat him, Jacen was an excelent swordsman. But it was the nature of the attack.

He summoned the Force through his mind letting the silky smooth feel of it flow from his fingers into a force barrier infront of Malkav.

Jacen betrayed no anger, because he felt none. "Calm down Malkav, the voices hold no sway over you. You are the master of your own mind, don't let them tell you any different."

Malkav didn't ignore his masters words, he simply couldn't hear them. The real Malkav was deep in the consciousness of his brain arguing with the voices. The pain had only temporarily created a tunnel through which they could crawl through.

Malkav struck at the invisible barrier again and again, yet to no avail. He couldn't see that however, and continued to strike the wall until he collapsed from exhaustion on the rock floor..completely unconscious.

Jacen picked up the limp body and carried him back to Malkav's chamber, there he layed him down on his bed and pulled a blanket up over him up to the chin. He then walked out of the room and closing the door, locked it behind him, it was for Malkav's own saftey, if he got out he could injure himself should the voices prevail again.

Jacen feared he might have to get the help of a master if he was to train Malkav.

The first thing Malkav noticed, even before he opened his eyes, was the soreness he felt all around his body. He chuckled a little. Well, master was right, it really does-

The memories of what happened suddenly came rushing back to him and despite his pain he still managed to sit up sharply and stare blankly at the wall in front of him.

What had he done?

His head fell into his hands as the seriousness of his actions came into full view. Would they kick him out? Malkav looked around the room a little more tensely.

Ignoring the pain the rose to his feet and didn't bother dressing, time was of the most importance. He knew what he had to do.

I.......am sorry

A snarl escaped Malkav's lips.

You know how hard it is for me to apologize-

I also know how it is easy of you to lie

NO!

The voice was so powerful that it knocked Malkav to one knee.

I mean...no. Never to you Malkav, you know that in your heart and mind. We are one...i truly am sorry, i did not mean for that to happen...the anger engulfed me...

You enjoyed it

No..i was not able even if i wanted to. All i wanted to do was hurt him..to kill him...thats all i was capable of doing....

Malkav knew that he was right. Although the voices had always been cruel, they were always cunning and manipulative, almost never striking out against anyone directly.

That..will never happen again.

You cannot be trusted. You are a monster, born from the pollution of the blood in my veins.

We cannon choose who we are Malkav...

His words struck close to home.

.......Do not cross me again...

There was no reply, and a frustrated half Miralukan growled in anger and opened his door to find himself face to face with his master. Ignoring bowing to him, Malkav blurted out "Master...i know I don't deserve to be forgiven. I am sorry beyond my years. That will not happen again."

The Force sensitive Miralukan side of Malkav sensed his masters hesitance, and Malkav added "It WILL NOT happen again. I know this"

In the back of his mind, almost too quietly for him to discern, he heard it, and it genuinely surprised him.

He speaks the truth......

Jacen turned to him, "I trust you Malkav, and I will do all in my power to help you. I will make sure you become a Jedi Knight because I want you to succeed. I don't know if I can do this on my own. I have requested my old master to help me with your situation. He is a man of great strength in the Force and very wise. He is better then me by far and if anyone can help, it's him."

Jacen smiled again and put a hand on Malkav's shoulder, "But for now, get some sleep, the day has been long and you need the rest. I will prepare tommorow's lessons."

Malkav bowed his head in shame as he watched his master leave the room. As the door electronically slid back into place, Malkav's sense of guilt increased tenfold. He had failed his master. He was too much of a handfull for his master to handle, and as powerful as his master was it was hard to swallow.

Perhaps...if i might add something....

Malkav did not protest

Perhaps they are merely afraid of your power....

Malkav remained silent

But perhaps you would rather figure it out for yourself...

At this Malkav raised a eyebrow

Explain

We have done it before, but it requires both of us. Let us use this curse of our blood to our advantage...

Malkav smiled. It was times like these he liked having the voices with him

He sat cross legged on the carpeted floor and slowly started to relax himself. The only light was coming from the glare of the full moon through the window, but the light did not touch Malkav.

As he relaxed more and more, he began use the ancient power of his people. It required all of his mind fully committed to the act for it to be successful, to which it was. If they could have, he was sure the voices would have smiled.

The Jedi temple was open to him fully now, with no restrictions for his mind to wander. He sensed it all, from every Jedi to every critter they stepped on, and even the paid of the poor bug he sensed.

His mind left his room to wander the nearly empty halls of the Jedi. He followed his masters mental energy to his room. But on approach, he suddenly changed his mind. No, this was wrong. Better to please his master than disappoint him again. Malkav turned in the direction of the library.

Throughout the night he stumbled over tomes of age old Jedi lore. Force powers he couldn't possibly comprehend or understand were laid out before him.

Memorize them just in case.

He did just that. He didn't just read up on different powers, he also read of the Jedi code and their past exploits. He studied their history so he could avoid to make the same mistake they did...

When he finally returned to his room in his mental state, he surprisingly found that his body was well rested and healed. He smiled as he stretched in the morning light.

A knock on the door took away his smile, but he quickly comforted himself. He would deal with whatever the consequences.

Jacen stood in front of Malkav's door when he opened it.

"Good morning Malkav, I see you had a better night's sleep then before. I'm sure you learned plenty." Jacen added a wink to that, he knew what Malkav had done, in a temple filled with Jedi masters a person's force sense couldn't go undetected.

"Come, I have a little surprise for you today in training."

Malkav couldn't hold back a smile at his masters comments. Perhaps he wasn't going to be expelled from the temple.

He followed his master out of his room and down one of the many halls of the Jedu temple. Keeping the pace at his masters side, Malkav said "Master, where are we going?"

Jacen stopped in front of a door that looked the same as all the others in the hallway. Upon opening it however it was shown to be a different story. The room was very large and filled dominated by a large maze.

"That is what the surprise is Malkav. This is an obstacle course that will require certain forcepowers to navigate, as you progress I will watch from the catwalk up there," Jacen pointed to a catwalk suspended above the maze, "And help when needed. First rule, don't jump above the walls. second rule, don't break anything, third rule...well actually there are only two rules."

Jacen leaped up to the catwalk in a graceful bound. The entrance to the maze opened infront of Malkav, "GO!" Jacen cried from the top.

The first room seemed innocent enough, but there were sensor plates on the floor that would deliver an electrical shock when stepped on that blended perfectly with the stone floor. One would have to use the Force to sense them, only after Malkav got to the other side would Jacen open the next door.

Malkav looked to his around him, still in a apparent daze from being left so suddenly in a strange environment. This maze was his test? It didn't seem right.

Not all is as it seems

What do you mean

I sense..danger. We should be cautious

Danger?

I feel it, i don't know what it is or where it is coming from. But i feel it. Don't you?

It was true, Malkav had felt the sudden rise in his emotions as soon he walked into the maze, but he dismissed it as butterflies.

....Butterflies?

Shutup thought Malkav as he stepped forward.

Malkav's body contorted and straightened as the volts from the floor surged through his body. He pulled away immediately, but not before part of his shoe melted to the floor. He pulled back and surveyed the situation.

If there are one, than there are more

Let's find them, i do not wish to experience that again

Neither do I

Malkav closed his eyes and once again began to calm his mind. He began to gather energy around him, and focused his energy on the floor before him.

His mind stretched through the narrow maze hallway and with it, he learned of the 'mines' locations. Smiling cockily, he leaped over the bad floor pads one by one until he was beyond them.

That wasn't so hard.

He continued on.

Jacen nodded at Malkav's easy progress through, he was doing good. Jacen activated the next door and it rumbled open revealing another room.

This room was sunken into the ground it seemed, with large blocks strewn around the floor. The next door was twenty five feet up a solid smooth wall. The wall was too high to jump up so Malkav would have to find another way.

Malkav stared at his new obstacle. How was he going to scale that wall?

He put his chin in his hands and pondered...until the answer slapped him in the face. With a big grin, he began to calm himself and reach out to the force. He felt it touch him back, but instead of letting it run free he focused it on the wall. He felt the rocks on the wall, the cracks inside them, and even the little critters that called its walls home. He was the wall.

Using the Force, he manipulated the wall. He started to push out rocks in specific places. The wall was his plaything.

Afterwards, Malkav rose to view his work. Ledges had been pushed out by the wall so he could easily climb. Once he had climbed it, his grin widened. What did his master have in store next for him? This test was easier than he had become to believe.

Well, the easier tests were out of the way. Now for the harder ones. In the next room was a pit filled with water. Now this would normally be no trouble as one could swim. But there are four electrical cords in the water sending lethal amounts of voltage. As soon as Malkav entered the room the floor beneath him would start to recede into the wall, if it took him to long then he would fall into the water. There were very small hooks on the wall that could hold the cords, but very delicate skill in the Force would be required.

As soon as Malkav stepped inside the room, the floor started to recede. He scanned the room quickly for a exit, and spotted one at the end of the room.

There's more

Obviously. Malkav started to run toward the water

Observe the water

He looked on the surface of the water, confused until he spotted the wires protruding into the surface, transforming the pool into a deathtrap. Looking to his left and right, he spotted hooks on the walls.

The floor was starting to recede a little more quickly, and Malkav frantically reached out to the Force and started to feel around the room, searching for the wires. Once found, he began to direct them each toward the hooks.

To little time. Use your anger.

Malkav smiled wickedly and drew up energy of pure rage. He raised his right hand and flexed his wrist. The wires moved a little with his hand. He clenched his fist and jerked his arm toward himself. The wires ripped out of their sockets and levitated toward Malkav, dropping themselves at his feet. He smiled and moved on

Jacen blinked, "hmmmmm."
The door opened at the other end of the pool of water into a small enclosed room. As soon as Malkav stepped into the center of the room the doors would snap shut and the ceiling, which was made of heavy stone blocks, would drop to the ground all around him. Jacen would be able to help him should he not be able to protect himself.....

Malkav stepped into the room slowly, looking around at his surroundings and keeping a close eye on the door.

His observations concluded that nothing was dangerous

Don't be so foolish, this is a obstacle course.

Malkav raised his hand

Do not...test me...

Malkav continued his slow walk toward the other door. He inched closer and closer toward the exit. Was this the end of the course? Maybe all he had to do was cross this room....

He felt it before it happened, a short electrical shock coursing through his body. A warning sign.

Fool!

Malkav looked left to right and saw no danger. Relieved, but still confused, he continued to creep toward the door.

A cinderblock came smashing down in front of him. Malkav jumped back and started to sprint for the other door, only to see that it was sealed shut. He brought his head up and looked at the ceiling.

A huge block was coming straight toward him.

Malkav quickly summoned up all the Force and strength he could muster, and, using his hands, pushed upward with all his might.

The cinderblock seemed to levitate in the air for a brief second, as if deliberating whether to fall or not. In the end however, Malkav's power was not strong enough, and the cinderblock fell straight down onto Malkav, knocking him to the ground. There he lay, as he began to fade from conciousness as the rest of the ceiling began to fall around him...

"Fierfek" Jacen hissed. He extended his hands and caught the blocks in mid air, shunting them to the side. He used the Force to levitate Malkav out of the training pit and onto a medical stretcher that had been standing by. The droid trundled off with Malkav towards the Med-unit of the temple were he would be treated by the best of doctors....

Malkav's eyes opened slowly as his head began to clear. Why was he laying down...

Where am I? He looked around

Some kind of hospital.

It was true. Around him were all types of medical equipment. Droids buzzed around him, swinging various tools and gadgets in a effort to heal him because he....

His memories came back to him suddenly, and he shot up off the table he was lying on. Malkav turned to the nearest droid and said
"What happened? Where is.."

The droid held up a metal arm in a human gesture, the from its vocabulator echoed "Please calm down young padawan, you had a accident in the training grounds, your Master shall be he shortly. Please lie back down so I may continue..."

Malkav laid back down and let the droid continue his work, content for the moment at least. He closed his eyes in a attempt to get back to the peaceful wonderland that sleep offered him...

"I don't like the Miralukans." Malkav's ears tuned in to the voice at the sound of that statement.

"I never have..they say they can see into your thoughts." Malkav slightly opened his eye to see a three humans standing outside his Medbay room. There was a female human, a blond human male, and a dark haired human male, all looking around the same age. And from the way they were attired, Malkav guessed they were other Padawans.

A new voice, the human with the black hair, said
"I heard he was accepted by Master Jacen, and that he's been lenient with him. He's only been here shortly and has already been tested in the obstacle course."

The blond hair said [/FONT]"Which?" Then, the black hair human answered "The one on the third floor." At this, the blond haired Padawan became enraged, Malkav could feel it from his table. The blond haired human opened his mouth and said "Already? Im done with staying here, leave this....fledgling to his healing."

They all began to turn around. A thought fluttered through Malkav's head

"Could I use the Force to hurt now"

Yes...you could. Remember what we learned.....what we can do...

Would they know?

Not if we do it right...

The world around him seemed to slow as he concentrated on the Force around him, drawing its essence deep within himself. He concentrated harder.

The world continued to move at a slow rate. Malkav eyed the blond haired boy with malice, and raised his hand. Gathering all the energy to his hand, Malkav's mind raced, scanning over the boys body, searching for a strike zone.

His ankle..

The world seemed to speed back up.

A sickening crack emitted from the boy, followed by screams and a team of droids.

Malkav drifted back to sleep....
