Affiliation: None, though it is widely available in outer rim and as such, within the Border Alliance

Ownership: N/A

Intent: To provide a widely usable and highly effective anti-armor weapon in a universe that needs some serious world building

Model: M83 HEPM (High Explosive Penetrating Missile)

Type: Rocket Launcher

Size: 98.3 Centimeters (Expanded) 61.7 Centimeters (Collapsed)

Composition: Durasteel (Main housing), transparisteel (Flip out combat optics), rubber (Shoulder rest, watertight seals)

Range: 150 metres

Ammunition Capacity: One

Description: The M83 was designed by outer rim self defense forces in order to have a cheap, disposable anti-armor weapon that could be widely available to defend against the various types of armored vehicles used by pirate and raider gangs. Their answer was not to create bigger booms, but instead to wrap a plasma charge in a conventional rocket tipped with a contact detonated magnesium charge. The result was that the rocket would fire, detonate the magnesium charge on impact, melting away the outer shell of the armor and injecting the plasma charge, which would detonate and eliminate the crew efficiently, leaving not a smoldering wreck of a vehicle but instead a relatively intact vehicle and a burned out crew quarters. Unfortunately due to the length of the launcher and weight of the missile, the range is relatively short compared to other launchers. The shoulder rest is able to be lifted, allowing the launcher to shorten its length by several centimeters by sliding the inner tube housing the projectile into the outer tube. The entire process is protected by water tight seals, ensuring that no foreign objects enter the weapon assembly, preventing malfunctions. However, this process is somewhat cumbersome and extends the deployment time of the weapon. There is a side mounted rail, allowing attachment to most standard rucks.
