DESCRIPTION
The Lucrehulk-Class of ship was originally designed to be the workhorse of the Trade Federation's Merchant Fleet and was designed to haul truly massive amounts of cargo across the Galaxy. Typically paired with a droid workforce but not exclusively, the Lucrehulk-Class ships were actually made exclusively for the Trade Federation in the build up to the Clone Wars. This is an example of the Battleship Configuration of the Lucrehulk and it was rightfully feared during the Clone Wars as a force to be reckoned with. Although no better armored, shielded or improved in terms of speed or handling, the Lucrehulk Battleship was by far more deadly due to the vast array of weapon emplacements added to the freighter. Already capable of point defense in freighter configuration, the battleship configuration aimed to make the Lucrehulk a bastion that no fighter screen would be able to pass by without being withered away to nothing. Equally, the vast number of laser turrets added were designed to be the 'smaller' variant
Heavier weapons were added in the form of the dozens of turbolaser casemates that were added to make sure the ship could hit harder targets, such as the Republic's Capital Ships, as well as their fighters and bombers. Alongside this, the 'hangers' used for storage in the freighter configuration were used instead as actual hangers, housing thousands of droid fighters, tanks and battledroids themselves.
Although produced in vast numbers like their freighter counterparts, the battleship configuration is comparatively much less common in the Galaxy as they were whittled down during the Clone Wars and dismantled where they could be during the time of the Empire. The sheer number of Lucrehulk Battleships meant it was a task that would have taken dozens of years even without the Rebellion drawing attention away from the Empire so many Lucrehulk Battleships slipped through the cracks, some were sold by corrupt Imperial officials and some never left the hands of Separatist sympathizers and mercenary allies who kept them as spoils of war.
Due to being, technically, a refit of a freighter design, the shielding and the armor is considered sub-par for a capital ship of it's size and role but at the time the CIS did not see it as a design flaw as it made it cheaper to produce. No steps were made to address this post-CIS as the ship was still technically considered illegal by the Republic and Empire.
LEGALITY
Illegal. Not only are they classed a Capital warship, illegal to be owned by all but military forces by default, they were declared an illegal refit to freighters by the Republic. This law was never repealed by the Empire, the New Republic or the Free World Alliance and so, therefore, it is highly illegal in most known space.INTENT
To bring a canon ship to the site that can be used as anything from a mobile faction asset/base to an incredibly versatile capital ship.RESTRICTIONS
Lucrehulk-class Battleships are large capital ships with heavy weapons, and capital ships cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. The acquisition of such a ship by a faction must be thoroughly vetted by and coordinated with staff, and possession is subject to being revoked for any reason.
