The brief shade of skepticism mixed into compassion didn't elude the experienced empath. It would've been easy for Darmus to make assumptions. Especially after it was certain that the Eternal was residing there. But there and then, Nykoria hadn't realized what she'd be getting into. There were rumors, sure, but nothing more than that. Perhaps it was for the best that Darmus didn't push the issue. The pheromones slowly started spreading around the room in response to that hidden skepticism.

Instead, he simply thanked her for the tip with the smile sincere enough. There was nothing more Nykoria could ask for. She simply nodded with a smile. "Yes, guilty as charged," she replied calmly, with a faint smile. With her family hidden away, the Zeltron no longer needed to worry as much. She only had one last thing to take care of... Or a confession to make.

"Truth to be told..." she closed her eyes and shook her head briefly. On the one hand, she felt guilty for not telling him sooner; on the other hand, she was still reluctant to say it. Especially there and then, under the circumstances. But the genie was out of the bottle. "When I first came to your apartment, there's a reason I insisted on that second meeting."

The Zeltron's elbows landed on the table, and she put the fingers of her hands together. "I... wanted to see you after the deed was done and..." After a long and awkward pause and some thinking, she blurted out quickly: "And to make sure you had no recollection of our meetings. Or at least the location. But..." She shrugged, finally looking up at the ranger and exhaling, the pitch of her voice breaking slightly higher: "I just can't do it. Not after what you've done for me... How you went about it... I'm sorry."
