Looking at the empty classroom around her, Teynara nodded in some satisfaction at the way it had been laid out, per her instructions. Can't accuse our technical staff of slacking, she thought with a soft smile. It wasn't one of the Temple's usual classrooms, which would have consisted simply of seats and a few tables, with a holoprojector to the front, where the presentations would be given. This one was probably closer to a science lab, albeit one that was more austere in nature, lacking a lot of the equipment you might expect to see within. The walls weren't the stark, serene white of the medical labs, either, but rather a soft brown, the room carved out of woods that had been polished and preserved to a high degree, giving it a far more natural look.

Each of the student's desks had been spread out a little, so they wouldn't necessarily be together, all of them low off the ground, so the students would have to sit on the small cushions arrayed next to them rather than on any clunky chairs. Less distracting, more comfortable, and a little less distinct from our meditative practices, the blonde noted. There was paper and a fresh ink pen waiting on each, though she suspected most would prefer a datapad. Let's call that one a personal preference, then. Also arrayed on each were several unusual objects: a standard Doppraymagno Scanner for medical use, a surgical laser scalpel and a small field medical kit resting beside them containing all the usual things a Jedi would need in the field: anaesthetics, spray bandages, a set of emergency stim-shots and a laser cauteriser, among other things. Everything you might need but always hope you won't, she thought.

That she'd chosen this particular topic as a basis for her first class was probably going to be one she'd regret: say one thing about Jedi Healing techniques, they tended to be complicated, hard to use and even harder to master. Then again, how many of our students even know how to use basic First Aid techniques?, she wondered. Sure, Teynara had been given plenty of training in that direction herself, but most of that had been before she'd joined the Jedi Order, during her Xenobiology studies - a key component of which had been basic A&P and how to deal with problems arising from damage to it. Plus it helps to have parents in the medical profession, she mused wryly, even though she had to acknowledge that such a thing wasn't really supposed to be an influence on her life now. Cost of being a Jedi, huh?

Sitting back on her own cushion at the front of the classroom, she gazed contemplatively around the empty room. Should be fun seeing how these guys manage this one, she thought, a smile curving her lips, reflected in her pale blue eyes. I think people forget that Jedi exist to serve life first and foremost - and what better way to express that than to preserve it from harm?. It seemed most Jedi felt the best way to do that these days was with a lightsaber, but she couldn't help but think that was very much the antithesis of what the Jedi were supposed to do. I don't even seem to carry mine around with me these days. Hopefully at least a few of the students would join her in that, if they felt so inclined.

All that remained was to wait patiently for them to arrive. Then they could get down to business.

Thur'hars walked the Tython halls slowly, his lower hands clasped behind his back and the fingers of his upper hands laced together in a relaxed, easy way. This was his second trip to Tython and while he remembered the halls of the Temple here it was not particularly familiar to him and he had to ask for directions twice. Now he was on his way to the classroom that had been listed. Not long ago he had begun to look into healing classes. He was surprised when he found the better of currently available classes was not at the Sage Halls. But he was willing to go either way, knowing that he needed to get in a few basics and start learning.

Though Thur'hars was walking slow and calm his facial expression was not that of a relaxed person. He was appearing stoic again, emotionless and disciplined. It was his default that made it easy for him to keep himself to himself. However, it had become somewhat harder to attain this default as he noted he was having to concentrate harder on keeping it in moments of extreme emotional stress or in the very beginning of the day. Luckily, this was a situation in which neither were viable. The expression also helped keep him centered, which he theorized was part of how he learned to utilize the Force so well. His dedication and discipline would likely allow him to learn healing somewhat quickly, but he could never be sure and as he walked the halls of the Temple of Tython he wondered as to whether or not he would need that disciplined emotional mask for todays lessons. It didn't matter because he would 'wear' it either way, though.

Looking up he noticed the class with the room identification that had been given in the listing. Entering therein he noted how the room differed entirely from what one might expect of a class on healing and restoration. The room was definitively different from how most might appear, even the very composition of the walls appearing to be highly different. Thur'hars even touched the wall, curious as to whether it was actually made of wood or simply an immitation. He was inwardly surprised that it was actual wood and that it had been preserved so well, though outwardly he did not react. Looking around the room he noted that it was generally empty with the exception of small pads on the floor with desks in front of them, each pair relatively separate. He noted how everything was set up, the spacing, the paper/pen combinations, and the almost OCD manner in which everything was set up. It took only a few seconds for all of this to process in his mind and settle, then he let himself move on.

Walking to the front of the room he noticed a beautiful blonde Human female sitting at the front of the class, her eyes having been watching over the room in a manner he was sure of inspection. He guessed that by now she likely would have sized him up, inspected him, and made decisions on him the likes of which he wouldn't bother to guess. He guessed that she was likely introverted, which he was fine with. As he looked at her, inspecting her in a way, he noted a lack of lightsabers. It made sense that they would not need any for a healing class but he had rarely seen someone without them. In a way, the thought that she was more comfortable not wearing hers made his want just that much easier. He could not let himself leave his weapons somewhere when he had the chance of getting into any combat, having been a survivalist first for almost his entire life at this point. But he did feel better knowing that even with his past he was not the only person with the same ideals. As such, when he went to sit he unclipped his sabers, one training the other real, and removed his knife, still sheathed. They then floated across the room to a corner, settling in a tri-point star with all blades facing in.

Thur'hars nodded to the young woman at the front, who was obviously the listed teacher Knight Jeralyr, and settled himself in listening to the subsonic vibrations in the area and meditating until the class started or Knight Jeralyr decided to start discussion.

Someone really had to hate him. Deenar has recently moved to the Sage Halls of Empress Teta since he felt he could learn more about Force healing there and find a peace of mind, as it was hard to find someone with a decent skill in healing on Tython and there were too many lightsaber fanatics for his taste too. He had recently signed up for a lesson in Force healing, only to find out it was on Tython. Whenever he was on Tython, all classes were somewhere else, whenever he was somewhere else, all classes were on Tython. His Mon Calamari sense could almost feel some dark conspiracy against him. Oh well, good thing transport ships existed.

Although he sometimes hated himself for choosing to become a healer, and not something skilled in destroying things through the Force, like many in the Order, but he always cheered up when he saw what can be done with the Force healing and it's various applications. There was nothing better in the galaxy than seeing a face full of gratitude of a person who was either sick or injured and has been helped by a Jedi healer. Not everyone was grateful though, and Deenar sometimes wished to snap the necks of those idiots who got healed only to get themselves hurt a minute later, and he wasn't even thinking about soldiers.

Walking through the hall and looking for the right door, both of his bright blue eyes searched the different side, until his right eye noticed the right room number. That was it! The boy made sure his dark grey clothes, black boots and brown robe were clean before entering the class. He didn't want to look like he just came from the forest.

When he entered the class, he noticed the change in the atmosphere. It felt somehow warm inside, probably because it would host individuals who wanted to help people, and not bloodthirsty warriors. Or maybe that was just the beautiful brown color of wood that made the whole room feel that way, maybe both. Either way, Deenar saw he wasn't the first nor the last, which was always a good thing. One person was the Jedi Knight Teynara Jeralyr, a human with beautiful blue eyes he had already met a couple of times, the other person was Thur'hars, the Codru-Ji. While Deenar had already met him too, he wasn't too fond of him, mainly because of his tendence to keep people at distance, even his facial expression put the typical Mon Calamari pokerface to shame. He still wanted to be a healer though, and Deenar held a deep respect for most of those people.

Firstly, he walked up to the sitting human woman and deeply bowed to her to show his respect. "Greetings, Knight!" he said, almost happily, but his face remained calm, only his eyes lit up in happiness a little bit. He simply considered her to be a good Jedi, someone to look up to. He would do his best to be on good terms with her, something he couldn't say about those tons of criminals who joined the Order to suck it dry and leave immediately after getting enough training.

Then the Mon Calamari teenager walked to the Codru-Ji and bowed too to offer him a greeting. "Hello, Thur'hars." After the formalities were done, he moved to one of the desks, sitting on the cushion. He noticed there was a pen and paper ready, but he had his datapad for notes. That didn't mean he wouldn't use the classic way though, drawing something on a datapad was annoying. There were several other items in his reach, he recognized only the medical kit, though.

The transport ship Arikka traveled with arrived early in the morning of the day the class was to be held. Traveling was still a foreign concept to the Codru-Ji who had been isolated from the Galaxy for most of her life. She stepped off the ship, inhaling the air that she had come to love. The smell of nature, it was a scent she developed a liking for when she first joined the Jedi and remained on Tython. It had been almost a month now since Arikka transferred to Empress Teta to further her knowledge-based studies, however she was glad to return back to where she started within the Jedi. The odor of the planet brought back a sense of nostalgia, her experiencing many things in the Jedi for the first time. Just then, Arikka snapped back into the reality of where she was and what time it was. She decided to stay in one of the guest rooms for the morning, Arikka intended to stay on Empress Teta after this was finished.

The Codru-Ji awoke the next morning, still about an hour before the schedule said the class started. She prepared herself with a few minutes of meditation, followed by a quick meal. Arikka knew exactly where the classroom was, and could effectively estimate how long it'd take for her to get there. She waited until about fifteen minutes before the class before she began her way to the class. On her way to the room, she noticed another Padawan in front of her, it was a Mon Calamari. Perhaps they were heading to the same place?

Arikka's suspicions were correct, as she saw Deenar turn and walk into the room. A noise caught Arikka's attention as she made her way closer to the classroom, a thumping noise. A noise she was very familiar with, experiencing it all her life, and even occasionally on Empress Teta. It was a heartbeat... A Codru-Ji hearbeat. Perhaps it was Thur'hars? Or maybe someone entirely different. A memory came to the teenager's mind as she remembered Thur'hars mentioned looking for a class on healing. After the thought came to mind, she began to think more, wondering if it was him. Her pace picked up into a speedy walk until she was a few steps from the doorway. Arikka slowed back down to a normal pace and entered the room.

While she intended to look towards the people within the classroom, her attention was taken by the room itself. It was beautiful in design, a much more natural look than those of Empress Teta. Had she forgotten how the area looked in such a short time of leaving already? Perhaps, or maybe she just never looked at the finer details. Arikka looked to the people within the room now, noticing the Knight in the room, first. The teenager bowed her head to Teynara and spoke, "Good afternoon, Master." Arikka rose her head up and then looked to the other two in the room. Her eyes focused on the familiar one first, it was definitely Thur'hars. She smiled faintly upon seeing him within the class. Arikka's eyes then shifted over to the Mon Calamari. She bowed her head to Thur'hars first, and then to Deenar. "Good afternoon, Thur'hars. And to you aswell," she said politely. "I'm Padawan Arikka-Mar," she said this, to introduce herself to those who had not yet met her.

After bringing her head back up from the bow, Arikka looked for a moment around the room again. She made her way over to one of the empty seats, where she inspected the items laid across the table as she sat down. She did not touch anything yet, because she did not know what any of the items did... Well, she did know the basic medical kit, but doubted she knew all of the items inside of it. The Codru-Ji crossed her legs and looked up to the front of the classroom.

Teynara remained silent and still as the three students entered, her eyes taking note of each of them but otherwise failing to acknowledge their presence - much though it was often best to greet each student individually (and at the door!), she's long since decided that this would be both time-consuming and likely to distract from the content of the lesson itself, and she had no particular wish to do that, even if it did mean she seemed a little distant at first. There's an impression that usually disappears in short order, though, she thought with faint amusement.

The three Padawans took their seats on the cushions positioned there for them, and as they did so, Teynara rose from hers and offered a polite bow to the three of them, appropriate for a Jedi, though it was only a fraction or so beyond a nod, as was appropriate from teacher to students. And, Force knows, we have to observe protocols around here, don't we? As she raised her eyes from their momentary genuflection, the blonde glanced at each of them in turn, noting their identities as she'd received from the class sign-up. One Mon Calamari and two Codru-Ji. She'd never have expected a class make-up like that, but it would make things all the more interesting. Just no focusing on Human physiology this time!

"Glad you could all make it, and in such good time, too," she remarked softly, a light smile curving her lips as she looked at them, her expression as amiable as it ever got. "I am, as you probably know, Teynara Jeralyr. Let's skip the 'Master', 'Knight', 'Jedi' and 'Ma'am' formalities, though, can we? I'm Teynara. You're Deenar, Arikka and Thur'hars, yes?" she asked, looking again at each of them in turn, her eyes flickering to them individually as she spoke their names. "I'd rather we kept things informal, if possible. Hierarchy is a barrier to learning, not an aid," she added.

She walked carefully over to stand just in front of them, then knelt down carefully, adjusting her robes as she shifted her weight to rest over her knees, making sure that the long folds of her white clothing didn't fall all over the place in some undisciplined mess. Finished, she placed her hands on her lap, still rather than fidgeting, her pale blue eyes encompassing the three students carefully, watching them as they watched her.

"The Healing arts that you're here to learn are numerous and complicated: encompassing everything from pain suppression to sensory diagnostics to the simple use of a Field Med Kit," she remarked in her soft tones, making no movement as she knelt there. "To learn everything you'd ever want in the field of medicine, you'd have to take many, many years of schooling in practical Medicine, as well as learning more theory than you'd ever likely want: not only your basic Anatomy and Physiology, but the Xenobiological differences that make up the numerous species of the Galaxy, and all that on top of your Jedi training." She shrugged slightly as if to suggest that such a thing would be for them to decide at a later time. "Our work here will be to focus on the practical uses of Healing in the field as used by Jedi: the things you're unlikely to learn elsewhere," she asserted, that mostly as a consequence of the fact that no Medical School anywhere taught classes on using the Force.

Reaching forward, leaning over slightly, she extended her hand to Arikka's desk and picked up the small laser scalpel that rested there on the hard wooden surface. Holding it expertly in her right hand, she gripped it with only three fingers: middle and forefinger on the outer side, with the thumb in opposition on the other side. She sat backwards and rested her weight over her ankles, then held her left arm in front of her, the palm of her hand facing downwards.

"With all Healing, we must start the process with ourselves: putting ourselves in the shoes of those we might some day have to help, and understanding how it feels to be them. Furthermore, we need to be able to channel our energies to help ourselves as much as anyone else, because an injured or dead Healer is of use to no-one," she said softly. With that, she brought the laser scalpel across to the back of her hand and activated it, a thin red line of light emitting from the scalpel and making a straight, thin cut into the skin. She grimaced slightly at the contact but did not flinch, her hand steady as she drew it along the back of her hand, making an incision of two centimeters before she deactivated it. "This is what you should understand: how it feels to be in pain, how that distracts from your concentration, how that suddenly becomes the centre of your attention. And know how dangerous this is to you," she added softly.

The scalpel lay flat in her right hand for a moment, resting against her palm, but then after a short moment, the space of a heartbeat or so, it raised itself into the air as though forced to do so by a repulsorlift, levitating it's way across the space between Teynara and the desk she had taken it from, the instrument coming to rest against the spot she had taken it from, as though it had never moved. She had, after all, only needed it for that momentary demonstration.

"Don't worry, you won't be required to do this yet. Just know that you will, eventually," Teynara said with some emphasis, her expression slightly downcast at the notion of needing to cause them pain, just as she had done to herself. Her left hand remained very still, only a little blood gathering at the edges of the wound she had created. The Jedi closed her eyes and took a deep breath, then placed her right hand just to the back of her left, palm outward. A shimmer of energy existed between the two for a moment, and after a pause of perhaps 40 seconds or so, the blood ceased to well up against the broken skin, though the wound remained, livid and painful nonetheless. "Out of curiousity, what do the three of you know about Healing? Am I dealing with advanced students, or novices in these delicate arts?"

Just as he sat down, another person entered the room. And another Codru-Ji, but it was a female this time, introducing herself as Arikka-Mar. She bowed her head to the male Codru-Ji, she and Thur'hars apparently knew each other, before giving the same greeting to the amphibious boy. Deenar nodded in return, as he couldn't bow properly without his head hitting the floor. It looked like everyone who wanted to come arrived, which was sad, seeing only four people in the Order were interested in healing, one of them being the teacher. At least Teynara could help them individually if they had some problem.

The Mon Calamari teenager kept both of his eyes on the human as she stood up and nodded at them before she introduced herself. Not a big fan of having to call someone by the title, he was glad she didn't require it from them. A sign of a good teacher, trying to get closer to the student. Not many Jedi did that, so it was a refreshing experience to meet someone who Deenar could talk to without fear of being dragged in front of the Council just because he forgot to say the rank.

Nodding as she said his name and looked at him, he wondered if she still remembered him. He certainly remembered her eyes, a very nice shade of blue. Thinking about the eyes, it was very probable she recognized him, as he didn't know any other blue eyed Mon Calamari in the Order. He didn't know any other Mon Calamari Jedi, to be precise, blue eyed or not, which probably meant she didn't know any either. He could only nod in agreement when she said to keep this informal. Then she went over the informations about healing and how hard it was.

When she picked up the scalpel, Deenar had to smile with his eyes, as he already knew what was she going to do. Not because he would enjoy seeing her bleed, Deenar hated seeing his fellow Jedi being hurt, but because he did the exactly same thing when teaching Force healing to one of his friends, even though he used a switchblade and not a scalpel. Every healer who tried to teach the healing arts probably did that, even saying the part about dead healer being a useless healer. So far, Deenar agreed with everything she said. When he started practicing Force healing, he had always done it on his own body to feel if he was doing it right. It wasn't a pleasant experience, but he didn't want to start helping others without knowing what he was doing.

He wasn't worried about getting hurt in order to understand pain, there were worse things that could happen to a healer, like a patient dying when the healer was connected to him. That happened to Deenar a few times, a very unpleasant experience to say at least. The Mon Calamari has had nightmares over a month after that event. Looking around for a few seconds when Teynara asked them if they knew something, he decided to speak up, telling her everything he knew.

"I know basics of how to accelerate body's natural regeneration by sending the energy into the body and stop the bleeding by telekinetically pinching arteries. I also know how to connect my presence to that of my patient when I'm meditating in order to scan the body and work with telekinesis more precisely, or just to calm the patient down. That's what I have practiced. Then I theoretically know how to cure poison and treat burns, but I have no practical experience with that."

Deenar knew that if the others didn't know what he did, she would turn her attention to them, which was fine by him, as he needed to brush up on some things. The only thing he thought he could do really well was the basic energy sending to help the body to repair itself, Deenar could heal slight wounds that would require days to heal in a few seconds or minutes. He wasn't so sure about other things, though.

Formalities aren't as popular as I presumed, Arikka thought after Teynara requested the abandonment of it. She was not the first Jedi to say to, either, Arikka's Master, Larik also requested that 'Master' is not to be used unless in a formal environment. The Jedi felt personally that it helped break down the walls of hierarchy so that learning could be done on a much more effective, personal level. She had placed her hands in her lap while she listened to what the teacher had to say, but was caught off guard by her taking the scalpel. Her eyes followed the hand movements of the human as she held the scalpel.

That's an odd tool to start with the teaching, she thought, not yet aware of what Teynara was planning to do with it. It was not until she did it, that Arikka realized what she was planning on doing. The Codru-Ji's eyes closed, flinching because she was off guard of what was happening. Blood did not bother Arikka, it was more of the act of getting injured. This would be a fear that Arikka would have to overcome, whether it would be today or not, she was not quite sure. She moved slightly as she re-positioned herself on the cushion that she sat on, worried that they'd have to do that now. Thankfully for her, that was not the case. Yet.

Arikka took note of what she was doing to herself after she returned the medical instrument. Is that force healing? she wondered. It had to of been, using logic of course. The Codru-Ji listened as she asked about medical experience, a subject Arikka knew little about. She was about to answer, but saw the Deenar had gotten to it first, which did not bother her. She turned her attention towards the fellow Padawan and listened to his answer. It was surprising that he knew that much, Arikka had a presumption that no one in the class other than Teynara knew about the subject.

Once he finished, Arikka gave her answer, "I don't really know a lot about it, only the basic 'bacta and bandage' trick. I can treat basic scrapes and cuts.. My mom always had to take care of those sort of things with me and my siblings." She did not know much of the subject, just things she picked up from injuries she's received herself in her life.

However, she did remember a little more, but not things she understood. In fact, how she discovered she was Force-sensitive was through a wound. Arikka had been bitten by a womp rat on Tatooine, and her parents feared she could contract womp rat fever. They tested her for it, and while it came up negative, they did discover something else... and the rest is history. So in a way, she understood that illness could be contracted through bites, and could be tested through blood. But these were not relevant topics at this time, so she did not mention them. Perhaps she would if the subject of illness and disease came up, however she imagined that this lesson would focus more on injuries and wounds instead.

Thur'hars had nodded to his contemporaries, even just a simple nod to Arikka. Here he was learning, and it was hardly in him to open up. For this he felt disappointment surge through him when Knight Jeralyr decided that they should be so informal. His disposition to informal training between a superior and a subordinate was not exactly good and he was never big on such things. When she spoke his name he nodded quietly, resisting the urge to correct her by saying "Padawan Thur'hars". He felt that such things were necessary for learning, having a strong discipline to guide a person.

He watched and listened as Teynara spoke and moved about. He was somewhat surprised that she cut herself but it faded as he reasoned that in use of the Force he must know the process of healing which always includes experience. It was still certainly different to watch someone purposely hurt themselves, though. But he listened to what she was saying and thought of the pain from when the scar on his face had been a fresh cut from a dagger. He was familiar to the sensation and distractions the Knight had provided.

"I only know survival-based basics, Knight Jeralyr," he said, his voice rather flat.

It sounded like Deenar at least had a fair amount of experience in the process of healing, though the very fact that he had chosen to attend the class meant he either needed those skills refining or simply wanted more practice - and both of those things were perfectly fine with Teynara. Poisons and burns, though, huh? Ironic he mentioned those, but they'd get to them a little later on. As for the others...Arikka had obviously not encountered the Jedi methods of Healing before, but that was well and good, and as for Thur'hars, if he'd been any more specific, she'd have called him vague. And I'll have to have a quiet word regarding not calling me that, too. She really did hate formalities when working.

"Sounds like we've got a lot of work to do, then," she said softly, bestowing a smile on the students, even though she felt mildly irritated with Thur'hurs. The blonde Jedi turned away from them for a moment and walked back to her cushion closer to the front of the room, sitting back on it and facing the students, beckoning for them to bring their own and come and join her. We'll need to cover the basic ground before we advance onto technique, it seems. "We have to start our training in the Healing arts with our sensory skills: to perceive damage and how it may be repaired, you have to have an understanding of how the body functions normally, and use the Force to sense irregularities and work out how they can be fixed," she added, adjusting her posture slightly. "We'll practice this now," the blonde said, motioning for them to sit on their cushions and match her sitting position.

Closing her eyes, Teynara gathered the energies around her and slowly projected her mind outward on a wave of that same energy, stretching out to embrace the presence of the other three Jedi within the room. She allowed her mind to go blank, her perceptions shifting merely to encompass the sense of life within the room, then focusing upon it. She could hear their hearts beating: the slow beating of the Mon Calamari's heart that felt utterly alien to her as a Human, while those of the two Codru-Ji felt a little more normal. And there's my own, of course. There was the blood that suffused their cells, the oxygen that penetrated their lungs, the steady cadence of their breathing, the slow stillness of their bodies as they settled into a resting posture. All as it should be.

"The Force naturally knows more about our bodies than we do," she observed softly, repeating that Jedi notion that the Force itself really was omniscient, aware of everything that went on in the flow of life and time, simply because it was present throughout it all. "Our job is to tap into this knowledge by extending our conscious minds into focusing upon it. You know how to sense a living person, no doubt?" Most Jedi were trained to do this as one of the very first Force techniques they learned, so she would have been surprised to discover otherwise. "Start there, then focus your attentions on the single lifeform in question, allow yourself to examine them objectively. You don't need to look at everything: the body itself will know if there is something wrong. Let it tell you, to give you the information you need to help it."

That was always the thing with trying to explain Force Sensing to other people: it was such a damn hard thing to do. Easy for us to practice, terrifically hard to explain, simply because it's an experiential practice, something learned by doing. As such, the only way the students would learn is by doing: by letting the Force inform their knowledge about the state of an individual's health, they would be better able to determine a course of action. The latter part would all come from experience, of course, but they would get that in due time.

"I want you to try this on each other - I can guarantee that someone's got a little backache, or a sore head, or an itch. Something small that they're ignoring or suppressing, or possibly something they haven't even noticed," she said with a smile, knowing that, realistically, everyone had something wrong with them at any given time, even if it was asymptomatic. "See what you can sense: can you detect their heartbeat? Can you feel the flow of blood through them? Can you sense their enzymes at work, the firing of neurons that serve as instructions from the brain? Can you find anything wrong?", she asked. "Give it a try now," she added, motioning towards them to carry on.

His thoughts were proven right, he was the most experienced Padawan in Force healing from them in the class. That meant Teynara would teach them something he already knew, but that was fine with the Mon Cal. Repetition is the mother of wisdom. He might even help her to demonstrate something if needed, or to help one of his fellow Padawans! He couldn't help but notice that Thur'hars, despite Teynara telling them how to adress her, still called her by her rank. That Codru-Ji probably had some problem, always so formal, always so reserved and seclusive. People like him were forgetting to put their heart into what they were doing.

They'd apparently start by searching for problems in their bodies, something every healer had to know. Deenar sat as Teynara wanted, then watched her as she closed her eyes and felt her Force presence. The Mon Calamari had done this many times, this shouldn't be the problem, as long as none of the other would resist his attempt to scan their bodies through the Force. It happened to him once, one of the many reasons he had learned Force stun.

Because he knew how to do what she wanted, or at least he thought how to do that, he closed his eyes and cleaned his mind. A healer should be perfectly calm to properly examine someone's medical state, no matter the situation. That wasn't a hard thing to do in the class. Once Deenar entered the state of meditation, he immediately felt the three other Jedi in the room. He decided to focus on Arikka, he didn't know her very well. His Force presence touched her own and connected to it. In that moment, Deenar could feel what she felt. Everything seemed fine. She could probably feel his Force presence and he hoped she wouldn't attack him like one of his patients did. He projected his calmness into her, just to let her know he meant no harm.

After a while of searching through her body, listening to her heartbeat and just generally practicing his sense skill, the only thing he was able to find was that she had a tiny ache in the back of her neck, the type everyone has after getting up in the early morning and that sometimes remains for a whole day. Deenar focused on that spot, sending energy into that stiffed muscles, hoping it would help her. It should. When finished, he opened her eyes, looking at Teynara. "Done. I have located a problem and took care of it. I think." He said, his left eye questioningly looking at Arikka.

It was unusual to Arikka, that Thur'hars was a lot more controlled and reclusive. This was not the Thur'hars she knew, every time she ever experienced him, he was open and fun and playful. She remembered him saying that he was rarely that way, and now realized it was true. She frowned a little bit to this. She then turned her attention back to the teacher, who had explained what she wished for them to do next. Arikka looked to the other two for a second, deciding to do this for Thur'hars.

Arikka closed her eyes and began focusing on the Force around her, identical to how she meditated. She was able to sense the other beings in the room, and even some of the other Jedi close to this classroom. The Jedi was able to tell where her classmates and instructor were without seeing them, however she began to focus more on Thur'hars. She remembered how daring he could be when alone or with just her, and thought it'd be in his best interest for her to check. She began to focus more on the Force around him and the Force that flowed in him.

The Codru-Ji focused on important parts of the body, from the heart to his lungs, she looked to see if he had any problems. She was shocked to see no major injuries, in fact she had to look very carefully to even find something. It was a bruise on his ankle, possibly he received it on their outing the other day and didn't inform her of it. Arikka was also relieved that it didn't allow her to focus on his mental health, the Force only knows what might be wrong up there.

Arikka opened her eyes as she stopped focusing, a general sign that she had done as Teynara asked. She looked up to the instructor and nodded her head, indicating 'Done'. The stiffness in her neck from the evening before had felt relieved, Arikka presumed that she was the one Deenar had chosen. She gave a nod to him and said in a low tone, so not to interrupt anything, "Thanks." The teenager had not noticed that the Mon Calamari had been rummaging around her body, perhaps she was too focused on searching Thur'hars. She then began to wonder if she was supposed to treat it as well, but she did not remember Teynara mentioning that.

Thur'hars moved as the Knight instructed, silent and stoic as always. He knew he would be tested, having rarely tried to search out someone in the Force, though he had gotten to where he could sense others. Having sat down before Knight Jeralyr, Thur'hars assumed the rigid yet somehow relaxed position he typically meditated in. Rather than minutes passing by he was now enveloped into the Force in perhaps a few second. In the moment his senses had been taken hold by the Force he recognized the signature of Arikka. She had apparently picked him, which was of no surprise. He let it go, ignoring the sensations to his own body and decided that rather than picking someone familiar he would do as instructed with Deenar.

He reached out, touching to the strangely familiar signature of the Mon Cal and went for the body. The first thing he noticed was not of the body but rather as though he were reading something of his mind. Ignoring the fact the Mon Cal was not comfortable with Thur'hars, likely because of his attitude, he pushed further for the body. He quickly noticed the lack of a second heart, which he figured was a natural thing for a Codru-Ji to quickly notice. He wanted to go as far into as Knight Jeralyr had noted and thusly concentrated himself to detail. He sense the blood streams and that the 'fish' had a certain different nutritional need than his. Thur'hars wondered as to whether or not it had been properly met in the past few days.

But as Thur'hars searched he found something that bothered him. There were signed of some kind of damage throughout most of his body. It was generally healed, somehow restored, but there were still signs that something had happened. How long ago did all of this happen Thur'hars thought to himself. Suddenly he understood the way the young Mon Cal had acted in their first meeting, when he had also met the young Cloudjumper. It hit him like a brick, the realization that the Mon Cal had seen combat. This likely meant he had also killed.

Thur'hars compassion nearly took hold. While he felt a kind of empathy for Deenar, and wanted to find a better way to help Deenar than simply this little healing class. His mind could be scared by what he saw, what was done there. Maybe he had not killed but rather saw death in a way that Thur'hars knew more intimately. That would leave damage that could not be fixed by the Force in itself. He wanted to know the truth, but he did not know how to read a mind. Nor would he bother. Privacy was something Thur'hars knew was beyond a simple matter, and therefore would not intrude. But he did make note to ask later.

Thur'hars continued to search, wondering if there was something else that actually could use attention. The only thing he would have known to do to help with anything would have been a massage, but he didn't know anything about Mon Cal physiology in all reality and didn't know the pressure or whatever. However, at least he knew and would be able to do something about it. With little else he could find that wasn't related to whatever had caused a massive jarring to nearly the entire body Thur'hars eventually left his search and went back to his own mind. He focused on his emotional situation and centered himself so that none of what he had felt would escape. His mind was his own and this would not change.

It suddenly occurred to Thur'hars that he hadn't fancied the idea of Deenar looking into his own body, but he had actually looked into Deenar's and found more than would've been found the other way around. He wondered as to the possible hypocrisy of the situation for a moment before letting it slide away into the midst of his subconscious. Opening his eye, Thur'hars was still thoroughly stoic, but he had a new found compassion hidden in the background for his contemporary. None-the-less he looked forward to Knight Jeralyr and simply nodded. He glanced at the Mon Cal quickly, looking to see if he knew what was found and that Thur'hars knew more about him than he might like, then back to the Knight, silently ready to follow further instructions.

Feeling the play of different energies around her, Teynara could sense the students exploring through the Force, gaining a better sense of each other through that extrasensory perception available to them, even deigning to include her, to an extent, which she found rather amusing. Though I suppose I'm as valid a test subject for this as any of them, she noted. Just as well they weren't lacking in confidence there, though she directed a sharp gaze at Deenar as she sensed a change in the energies he was wielding: they'd turned from passive to active, will directed behind them to a purpose she could both detect and recognise.

"You always make a habit of jumping ahead in lessons, Deenar?", she asked pointedly, waving a finger in rebuke at him, though her smile hadn't shifted a single iota, taking any sting out of her words, so he wouldn't feel overly criticised. Still, it was a nuisance when one student knew more than the others - it meant either one would outstrip those who were not as experienced, or meant it was more likely that they'd suffer boredom. "I will say you forgot the first rule of being a Healer: always get consent from those you would use your abilities on. It doesn't matter if you mean well - wielding the Force requires us to be responsible for those powers, and to use them on another without first asking is akin to an invasion of their privacy, dignity and freedom of choice," she added, a little more sternly than before.

Bringing her hands together in a single clap, she smiled at the three of them, thus far pleased with their efforts. Admittedly, what she had asked of them was fairly simple, considering that the technique was one they would have learned the basics of at some point before, but all the same, it was an important one for them to have some experience of. Particularly before finding themselves dropped into a stressful, potentially dangerous situation. Something she obviously felt the need to emphasise, given what she had to say next.

"Always remember, though, that the majority of times you will be called upon to Heal will not be relaxed, calm or even remotely clinical: they will be loud, stressful, bloody, and with very little calm available to you beyond that which you must force your mind to use," she said softly, her expression solemn despite the fact that she could still be sensed to radiate calm. "We're not Doctors, as such, so we rarely practice in controlled situations - our work happens mostly in the field, during accidents, on battlefields and in times of considerable distress. So, though this technique is nice and simple now, don't imagine it'll always be so: try practising it when your mind is at it's least calm or when things are far from tranquil." She glanced around the room, devoid of activity beyond that which the three of them were making. "That is," she added, "if you can ever find an absence of that normal calm anywhere around here."

Chances are that their first such experiences would be in the field directly, when they would be relied upon not to make any mistakes and just act according to their training, but she had to hope that they would do this under the supervision of a qualified Jedi, someone who would be able to guide them through the distress, pain and anxiety, and help them to perform their duty according to the ideals of the Order. If not, though, they can at least take that as a learning experience, too, and have a better idea of what might be in store for them the next time the unexpected happens.

"Now we need to learn to apply Healing energies in order to deal with any of the problems we might sense," she said, glaring slightly at Deenar, since it was obvious he already had some understanding of the basics involved here. "We don't need to actually have anything wrong with us to practice: if you use Force Healing on someone who is well, you'll simply refresh them a little, perhaps make them feel a little better than they did beforehand. That makes it rather simple to practice."

Spreading out her hands, Teynara concentrated on gathering a little of her own Force energy reserves and projected it up into her shoulders and then along her arms, surging towards her hands. As she felt the tingle of contact beneath her skin, she focused on converting that energy, using her own determination and willpower to alter the nature of that energy, imagining that it was needed to restore, repair and augment the natural regenerative properties of the body. As she did so, her hands started to glow slightly - a surprising after-effect she'd noticed when she had started to learn the technique for herself, suspecting that it was an unintended consequence of the way she tended to envision Force energy: as a healing light that pervaded the cells of the entire body.

"I want you to close your eyes now and simply concentrate on channelling Force energy into the most pure form you can imagine, something cleansing and capable of banishing impurities and pain," she said softly, allowing the energy to dissipate from her hands, the white glow that had suffused her skin diminishing into nothingness. "Most Jedi project this through their hands, using simple skin-to-skin contact to direct it from themselves into their patient. Your sole focus here must be to cleanse: do not see yourself as fighting illness or attacking an injury to heal it. You must provide the energy and allow the body to do the work - it can repair and heal where you cannot," she observed, her pale-blue eyes narrowing slightly. "You can't 'attack' damage, you must simply open your minds, relax and let that energy flow through you, positive and cleansing."

The blonde lowered her hands and placed them back into her lap, then nodded towards the students. She knew she wasn't giving them a whole lot to go on, but one thing she had learned over the years is that, even with the same techniques, every Jedi wielded the Force slightly differently, visualising things in a diverse set of ways, envisioning different pathways to the same end. The students had to discover for themselves how this one would work for them: to tell them everything she thought or visualised when she applied Force Healing techniques would simply cause them issues if their minds didn't work the same way.

"Now, try it on each other. Each of you try to use basic Healing energies on the other two," she instructed, looking at them each in turn. "You'll be able to tell when it's working on you, and in turn, when your attempts work on your friends. Just stay positive, be calm, let the Force flow through you."

His healing attempt apparently worked, judging by Arikka's reaction. This made the Mon Calamari quite happy, he always liked to help people with his healing skills. It was just satisfying, seeing he could help by treating wounds, whereas most of his fellow Jedi kept helping people by bringing kinship and love by their lightsaber. Deenar didn't have a lightsaber yet, but he didn't plan on overusing it like the most of the Order once he had one. It was supposed to protect it's owner and attack only when neccessary, not to be the ultimate problem solver.

The Mon Calamari was surprised to feel Thur'hars chose to practice the skill on him. He expected him to choose Arikka. Maybe the Codru-Ji felt Deenar has been searching through the female's body already, so he chose to look inside the teenage Mon Cal. Deenar didn't know what was the formal Jedi doing there, but for a brief second, he felt as Thur'hars' presence touched his thoughts. Not really wanting someone to look in his mind, whether at his present thoughts or memories of the past, the Padawan shielded his mind as his Master taught him to. Get out! The Codru-Ji stopped trying to read his mind and focused on scanning his body. The probability of finding something was low, but one never knew what could be wrong with his body.

Teynara apparently wasn't happy with Deenar solving the problem and told him the first rule of being a healer. The Mon Cal turned his gaze to the ground, feeling ashamed a little bit. He's never heard that rule before, nor he thought of any of the rules to be the first. Some of them were just more important than the others, and the Mon Calamari disagreed with the one she told him about. A good healer should always attempt to solve a problem if he finds one, unless he is too inexperienced, in which case, he should get someone more skilled in Force healing or a doctor. Getting a consent from a patient was a nice idea, but how to do it when the patient was unconscious? Or heavily wounded and every second mattered? The Knight's first rule certainly wouldn't become his first rule. The boy looked back up, no longer feeling shame.

He knew that a healer always had to be calm when healing a patient. When sending the energy into the wounded body, the healer would be also sending some of his emotions. Nothing was worse than a stressed healer sharing his stress with a patient, which is why a healer always had to be as calm as possible. It would certainly be hard with many objects flying around on a battlefield, be it blaster bolts or body parts, but a calm healer also worked faster than a frustrated one. Deenar has alrady been in such a situation. Many people kept shooting at the Jedi group defending their position, while the Mon Calamari sat in safety and kept healing the wounded Padawan and himself. It was much slower due to the stress, but the Mon Cal was able to heal the worst.

Truth to be told, Deenar didn't expect to learn something new this soon, but Teynara surprised him. He's never tried Force healing on a completely healthy person, that was something completely new to him. Why to repair something that isn't broken? Nevertheless, he liked the idea of all of them sharing the healing energy and making each other feel better. A happy healing class with happy healers! It sounded great!

Closing his eyes, Deenar emptied his mind. Now, he was at peace. Everything around him was peaceful, the whole galaxy was peaceful. With these thoughts, he extended his hands, channeling the pure energy through them. If a healer wanted to heal faster, using hands to touch the wound was usually recommended. It allowed a better connection between the healer and the patient. Deenar then touched Thur'hars' arm with his left hand and began sending the energy into him, while extending his right hand towards Arikka. They should make a circle of happy healers!

The faint sound of graphite grinding into paper could be heard as Arikka took a pencil into her upper left hand and began writing. She was always the kind of person who documented everything, and she had begun to write everything discussed thus far, putting five-pointed stars to symbolize things that may be significant. She had caught her writing up fairly quick while Teynara after discussing using the Force to help healthy beings. Arikka set the pencil down as she listened to instructions that Teynara spoke.

She closed her eyes and looked over to the other two students in the class for a moment before closing her eyes, She began to calm her mind, and thought of nature. This was always the physical description she gave to purity, calmness, and serenity. However, Arikka began to think less of the forest and more on the feelings. Her body calmed as it projected the classroom into her mind, she sensed where Teynara, Thur'hars, and Deenar were, despite the fact she doubted they relocated in the first place.

Arikka's concentration broke for a moment as she felt Deenar's hand touch her arm. She realized what he was doing, but wondered if they were supposed to do it. The teenager looked over to Thur'hars for a moment to see if he was and then she placed her hand onto the Mon Calamari's as she closed her eyes, refocusing on the task at hand. Arikka allowed the Force that had gradually built up in her hand to transfer onto Deenar, allowing him to feel the healing elements of the Force. However, she realized she would be unable to get to Thur'hars directly, so she began to focus less on Deenar and more on the Force. She envisioned it as an aura that radiated across the room from her body. She then moved her hand away from Deenar's and placed them on her knees. Her eyes closed a little tighter as she worked to produce this healing from an almost telepathic manner.

The girl continued to try this strategy for couple moments before being able to successfully do so. It was not strong, not nearly as strong as physical contact would be, but it could be felt by those in the room, being more effective dependent on how close they were. Deenar would feel the most effect from it, then Thur'hars, and finally the teacher, Teynara.

The young Padawan had listened quietly, catching the visual ques of what was going on. For a split second Thur'hars felt almost envious, but it was a feeling that would disappate into nothing as he continued to listen and push all thoughts and emotions aside. He listened to each word, absorbing them as well as he could, knowing some things were based on principle over anything else. Of course there was the sound of pencil on paper as Arikka wrote notes, but Thur'hars was not about to move. He was already focusing his mind as well as he could, trying to focus himself on building on the Force all the while listening and responding in his ways. No words, few movements, but he had his eyes and ears on Knight Jeralyr.

Once she had finished speaking and he was sure of what they were to do he closed his eyes, focusing easier on what they were to do. He couldn't be entirely sure just what to think of for good things specifically, but he was positive, in a way at least, and calm. He slipped right back into his meditation, having already prepared himself for it, and almost immediately felt Deenar pushing those 'good feelings' through his hand into the Codru's arm. It was a sensation that was a little different and even somewhat uplifted his mood but he was still far to disciplined to let himself go. Allowing the hand-on-arm contact already made by Deenar to work as his conduit to the Mon Cal Thur'hars began to focus on shifting his energies outward in a calm, slow manner that would simply transfer it across.

Another couple of seconds and a somehow familiar energy touched his, that of Arikka's. He wasn't sure why her energy was familiar to him but he did feel like he should applaud her later for the accomplishment of reaching him at distance so easily. Hopefully he could do the same. Thur'hars' body was still stiff, yet relaxed, liked a statue. His eyes were closed, all four arms resting on his lap. The simplistic yet somehow vague ideas of peace and serenity ran through his mind and he allowed it to affect his own being before allowing it to be transfered. He remembered when Master Ashara had told him Jedi should spread peace throughout the galaxy, but the Jedi cannot do that until they find it within themselves first; it was a lesson he kept in mind for this in a more literal manner.

The dual energies permeating his being and personality seemed to lift a weight from him, if momentarily, as he focussed on a distance transfer that was unlike that of the connected form when Deenar touched his arm. It was easier, that was for sure, and he wasn't having as much trouble doing it as he expected. However, he did sometimes have to remind himself to breath. He was not stressed, nor was he holding his breath for long periods of time and ending up breathing heavily. Simply he was concentrating so much on the distance transfer he sometimes wondered if he was breathing at all and would take steps to ensure he was. Eventually his body made it's only movement as he took a slow, deep, calming breath.

Teynara's eyes had closed while she sat and simply pushed her senses outward to envelop the three students, feeling the interplay of energies between them. Deenar was obviously the most confident of the Padawans, but at the same time, Tey felt that his technique lacked the refinement that it needed to become efficient and focused. Almost as if he's dabbled in many areas and not stopped to master any of them, she thought, wondering if perhaps she was being unfair to the Mon Calamari. He was certainly calm, though, and that spoke of considerable training, so perhaps his confidence wasn't misplaced as she had first thought.

The energies that flowed between them were building gently as the students relaxed more into the channelling technique, much as she'd expected. She felt a little surprised at Arikka's Force touch, but made no move to reject it, letting the young woman simply explore that energetic touch, no doubt something she'd never tried before. The lack of any physical contact between them mitigated the flow of healing energy considerably, but she felt it nonetheless, penetrating her flesh and giving her just a touch of calm, clean contentment, something any good Healer would think to project. And something I must teach them to do more effectively.

"Very good," she murmured quietly, a faint smile curving her lips, partly a consequence of the energy they were sharing as a group, though she hadn't chosen to direct any of her own - her well-practised hand might eclipse anything they might generate, and she didn't wish to disrupt their attempts. Besides, they're empowering each other, so they don't need me. "Becoming calm is merely the first step here, though," Teynara said, her expression relaxing. "We are but the conduit for the energy that heals others, but as such, our own presence within the healing cycle actually inhibits it."

She suddenly clapped her hands loudly in an attempt to break their concentration, seeking to disrupt the links they had created as their focus wavered. Had they actually being healing someone, she would never have dared, since any interruption in the stream of healing energy could cause haemorraging, a sudden increase or decrease in blood pressure or to cause injured organs to rupture or go into shock, all of which could be very fatal. And that can be very traumatic for the Jedi, too.

"The greatest of Jedi Masters have always recognised that the Force can only truly flow when they surrender to it, almost becoming absent in their own bodies, merely directing the energy that are channelling and nothing else," she said, almost in recitation, though the words were her own. "It's a hard concept to grasp: allowing yourself to be free of ego and just letting go. But, in part, this is the greatest strength of the Jedi Healer: simply letting the Force flow through them and acting at the source you direct them to. The less of us that is involved in the process, the better it works," she added.

In truth, Teynara herself had always had a little difficulty grasping that one - to empty your mind of ego, to become completely a conduit for the Force and to surrender your sense of self to it's will...that was hard to envision for most, and Tey had always felt herself to be a little headstrong, so perhaps it was harder for her moreso than most Jedi. It's easy to be passive in a situation where there's no difficulty or danger, she mused, but when there's a life at stake or danger all around you, to empty your mind and simply let the Force do as it will is both difficult and potentially stupid. Though, admittedly, that simply spoke to the fact that she didn't always trust the Force. Their relationship wasn't that close yet.

"But going back to our Healing Techniques, before you truly apply your energy, you must first calm your patient," she said assertively, her hands moving in gesticulation as she spoke, perhaps more animated than usual. "Although I don't personally approve of Telepathy on any level, you can use a very weak form to relax your patient. And, yes, there are several ways this can be done, but some are harder than others."

"First off," she began, "you can simply project the calm you feel to the patient - extending your empathic senses outwards and using a slight touch of Force energy to communicate that to them. Alas, this only functions effectively so long as you are calm, and if something goes wrong and that calm evaporates, say hello panic and goodbye patient," Teynara observed, a faint smile projecting her amusement at the flippancy of her words, even though she was quite serious. "I would only use such a technique for healing of a lesser injury, such as a cut or a burn, but that's a personal choice."

"Your next approach is to project what amounts to a forcible calm onto your patient via telepathic projection," she noted gently. "It really helps if you have an idea of what calms the person in question, but in the absence of that, you can project an image or scene that will relax them, or even one that relaxes you. You all know how to find that touch of serenity in meditation, so that often works well, too." That one really was difficult to explain: it was ultimately up to the individual Jedi how they might work. She'd known a few that just shot straight to sedatives or anaesthetics, leaving unconsciousness or the utter absence of pain to deal with the nerves of the patient. "Lastly, for when you have more time, there is the Jedi Hibernation Trance," she added. "We'll talk about that in a moment."

The blonde exhaled a soft breath, resting her hands in her lap for a moment and taking a second just to let her thoughts run as they would. "I haven't really let you three talk yet. Do you have any questions on what we've gone through so far?", she asked, raising an eyebrow inquisitively, inviting them to speak their minds.

Deenar stopped touching Thur'hars' arm and became completely immersed in his meditation while sending the energy around himself. He could feel as Arikka did the same, as Thur'hars did the same, he could feel as they were much stronger together. Beautiful. In that moment, he felt truly confident in their abilities, they would be able to heal anything. Simply beautiful. The pure energy circled through his body and Deenar smiled. So much peace.

He felt Teynara said something, but paid little attention to it. He didn't want to stop this, not yet. It was when their teacher clapped when he finally opened his eyes and cringed. By the Force, that scared him. He was peacefully meditating, and suddenly CLAP! He would bet she did that on purpose to see their reaction, but the only thing that could be seen on the Mon Cal was that his left eye was more open than the right one. It felt terrible, being interrupted like that, but the teenager knew they were here to learn and not to meditate for hours.

And again, while Deenar agreed with Teynara that the best thing was to empty mind, it would be very hard to do in a stress situations when every second mattered or when the Jedi found themselves in a combat situation. Maybe that was also a reason why the healers usually stayed away from the front lines, being in the hospitals or some safe places, healing wounded. While hearing the moans of wounded people and feeling their lives disappearing in the Force was a frustrating thing too, it was still better than healing with blaster bolts flying around.

Nodding when she said that the first thing was to calm down the patient, he smiled with his mouth as she explained the exact method he used. Projecting his own calmness into the patient, probably the easiest way in the young Padawan's eyes. The other way, through telepathy, was also a good one, although Deenar used in mostly when applying Force stun to calm down his intended target. Nothing was worse than an aggressive patient, so Deenar had to learn telepathy and how to force calmness upon another person because of that. It worked really well in combination with Force stun, whether used on patients or enemies.

Upon hearing Teynara mention the Hibernation trance, Deenar took out his datapad to take notes. This power really interested the Mon Cal, and he shook his head when she asked if they wanted to know anything. So far, the lesson has been a very good way to remember everything he knew, but now they were going to get to something new.

Clap! the sound of Teynara's hands hitting together caused the girl to jump, as well as Deenar's movement in his hand as he heard the same noise. Her eyes shot open, as she looked up to Teynara, the source of the noise. Arikka blinked a couple times as she allowed her senses to return to normal. Codru-Ji were typically more sensitive to sound, and during meditation, Arikka tended to focus on the faint sounds in the distance, as if she could simply turn up the volume of them as she focused on them. ...Well...that was unexpected to say the least, maybe a tad rude thought the Padawan. While she was a tad bothered that she did that, Arikka knew why. Teynara's later explanation verified her reasoning behind it.

As the lecture continued, so did the writing. Arikka picked up the pencil and began to write again, taking note of the more important parts of the conversation. After writing two brief sentences summarizing the topic, she set her pencil down and used her hands to help readjust herself in the seat. Ever since the clap, she could not find the same comfort in the seat she once had. After searching for a few seconds, she found it and picked the pencil up, preparing to write more.

Just then, Arikka heard the Knight ask about questions and Arikka slowly put her hand up, in a shy manner. She would wait until she was called on before asking her question, "You said that you must calm patients before beginning to treat them, does it have to be through telepathy, or the Force in general? If the situation allowed, would conversation, or perhaps comforting the patient work?" Arikka was curious about alternatives, developing a similar opinion as Teynara, as she expected she knew best. Every word spoken by her, whether it be fact or opinion would effect how she would help her future patients. Any answer provided by the Knight would then be written down on the paper, so she could remember it for future reference.

It wasn't so much the sudden clap that caught Thur'hars but the surge of a different energy. He hadn't really reacted to the clap outside of losing concentration, but he felt the energies quickly change from positive to something more alarmed before simply disappearing. His eyes shot open, alert and wary. He wanted to call his weapons to him, survival suddenly kicking in. A second of viewing the others and he knew he had no reason to. It must've been a knee-jerk reaction to the sudden changes that occurred when Knight Jeralyr clapped.

He readjusted himself back to a comfortable and stable manner, his movement in that moment having changed his position. Listening to the Knight, he understood why she had provoked the sudden alertness and surprise in the three Padawans. Understanding it was unlikely for her to have foreseen how it would affect him, he simply let it slide away. When she asked for questions, a single one came to mind, though he allowed Arikka to speak first. Interestingly they had the same question, but he also wanted to elaborate on it. After listening to the Knight's response he asked his own politely. "What of those who are hostile or are in such shock that they become violent? Would the same thing work for them or are we to find other techniques that would halt their wild behavior?" He purposely left out any directly addressing pronouns, understanding that the Knight was apparently rather annoyed with his previously addressing her in a more proper manner.
