The latest addition to my cadre of characters: Viechelin's replacement! I had envisioned this to be temporary but I really liked creating Laurentia. Though I always stand by the maxim that the wicked shall not go unpunished...

I wrote the biography as a collection of quotes about her from other people to give a sense of mystery and skin-crawliness.

Personality

One of my associates learned it was not wise to attract her attention, even at a social gathering. She may be a gloomy old beauty but she has this... power to her, a sense of foreboding that comes over you when she turns to you, her eyes slowly meeting yours. Biography

"Miss te Lors is a woman of incredible intelligence and skill. She tested through the roof at every aptitude test taken as a minor, received an open invitation and full scholarship to the University of Chandrilla and was one of our top research and development scientists before enlisting in the order. It is my opinion that she will make a fine asset and addition to the Ranks." -from the files of the Jade Order.

Countess Laurentia te Lors took the stand today in the trial of Senator Kero Tion of Raltiir, who was revealed to be involved in murder, money laundering, sexual slavery and bribery of public officials. It was Countess te Lors' brave decision to come forward with information about the Senator's alleged crimes that helped authorities unravel the Senator's criminal empire after he had threatened to have her killed when trying to strong arm her in a trade negotiation.
'Normally I wouldn't have said anything, I mean a stray death threat is hardly something to write home about in this business but one of his attendants this beautiful young girl showed me the bruises from the beatings she had suffered at his hands and.... oh I'm sorry I can't go on...'. The Countess continued to testify for another three hours describing how she thought it was her duty to report Senator Tion's crimes against young girls to the authorities, which gave them cause to search into the Senator's other activities, piecing together evidence from decade old rumors to create a mosaic of unspeakable crimes. Welcome back to the site, and thank you for submitting an application to the Galactic Senate. There have been some changes prior to your return, so i invite you to please read our newsletter and our senate rules and guidelines if you have not yet done so. If you have, then don't mind me. lol.

Upon review of your character, I find her both intriguing and engaging, but I have a few questions/concerns I was hoping you could cover for me before I approve her. Could you go into more detail about what the 'Duopoly' is? From what I read, it seems to be a government agency that protects the harvesting, refinement, and shipping/sale of bacta. If that is the case, could you go into more detail about the finer details of how specifically she is involved with the duopoly? From what I gather she has done some things that are exactly legal, and while I am all for corrupt senators, I just want to establish that.

The excerpts and quotes are very neat (i'm kinda jealous), but at the same time they don't serve as an adequate replacement for added detail in explaining the above question.

The Duopoly is the government of Thyferra, the alliance between the Zandiel and Bermar Bacta Cartels to corner the Bacta Market and bring stability to Thyferra after a hundred years of bloodshed during the Bacta Boom. What is colloquially known as "The Duopoly" is the 15 man Continuing Committee of Thyferra (analogous to the Swiss Federal Council) made up of 6 representatives of Bermar and Zandiel each with 3 single members of the remaining Bacta Cartels also serving ostensibly to break a potential tie or deadlock.

The above is an expansion of what I had mentioned in previous posts and in Thyferra's planet write up, nothing was changed in it's nature only clarified and expanded upon, such as who "The Duopoly Board" consists of (and their different titles which I loved making up) and the addition of a named Thyferran intelligence service known as the Jade Order. This replaces vague mentions of Duopoly Hit Squads and clarifies that while The Duopoly prefers soft power and throwing money at problems they broker no threats to the production and distribution of their product (which they were established to take care of with their patrol fleets and hired mercenaries).

As for how Laurentia is involved with them, she was once Viechelin's old position of Chief Trade Representative which then allowed her to take on a seat on The Duopoly as Ministerial Legate as mentioned in the "Biography" section. I don't know exactly what that title means (yet...) but I would think it means an Ambassador-at-Large or Extraordinaire.

Hey, I love the way this profile is written. I may just steal the idea for my next character. The only trouble I have with the profile is the skills and abilities section. Because it's more of a literary profile it's hard to read exactly what her strengths/weakness, skills, and abilities may be. Just something you may want to expand upon and add to so that it's a bit more clear.

Yeah when I was writing it I kept exchanging these excerpts between sections so some didn't end up perhaps where they best fit since many are not testaments to any one thing and require a bit of reading in between the lines. Of course I say that being the writer who knew all the little intentions and allusions I was making.
