OOC: Flashback shortly after Republic formation

It's another late night at the building where Senator Alton Hawkes works. Being a Senator theres lots of paper work to do, lots of meetings .etc .etc It's a tough job but someone's got to do it.

Alton's senatorial office on Chandrila is a modest one, has a hardwood desk with a terminal on top, there is a caf machine off to the side, he'd have a nice spaceleather office chair that spins around. Right now he'd be on his terminal going through some files on there, he'd have a mug of caf with him, occasionally taking a sip. That caf is doing favors helping him keep awake. Other than that today's a pretty normal day.

With the buzz going around the holonet about the United Protectorate being dissolved, the Republic being reborn, the Sith Empire evaporating, and the Mandalorians declaring open season on the Jedi there is a lot to take in.

With that, he'd continue to go through the reports on his terminal and see if there is anything new on the holonet.

Operation Silencer
Operator: Lt. Braun Stoker
Location: Chandrila, Senator's Office
Time: Approx. 2100 Hours Local Time

The Empire had fallen apart, and yet Lt. Stoker continued to receive orders. He dismounted his speeder bike and adjusted his uniform that he wore underneath a grey trench coat. His holo pad that rested on the console of the bike lit up to reveal his unit commander. “you have your orders trooper, you must stop the senator’s vote at all costs, do what is necessary and take great precaution. If you are capture, follow disposal protocol.” The hologram explained before switching off the secure channel. He was not expected to return it seemed, Braun thought to himself as he knew exactly what the officer had implied in his command. The new “Sith Order” cared very little for their troopers. This had been made clear to Stoker during the retreat from Kessel and during the battle of Corellia.

Regardless, Stoker had his orders. He grunted as he pulled his helmet up over his face and prepared to enter the residence. The office building hat had been the location given to him during the debriefing was to be expected, a tall office type structure. “ugh…” he grunted as he prepared to make his ascent, as stealthily as one could in Imperial Trooper armor, up the building. It was dark, and his dark armor helped him blend in as he kept to the shadows. He was not an assassin or an interrogator, so this mission did not sit well with him. Stoker’s place was on the battlefield, waging war, not coercing politicians. He found his way to a maintenance hatch and entered the building from this point.

He made his way to the maintenance lift, quickly opening the computer spike data pad that was installed in his armor’s right arm. He quickly began feeding the machine code that would allow him to access the lift and bring it down to his level. It took a few moments, but with luck he was able to take the lift to the assigned floor to confront the senator. As he came to the hallway that housed the office of the young senator, he quickly scanned the room for the listed number that represented the room in question that the Senator had reportedly been spotted at only half an hour prior to his entrance. Everything seemed to be going according to plan as he quietly opened the door while drawing his pistol.

[Entering the Office]

“Good evening Senator, I think we need to have a little business to discuss…” the trooper stated with his calm yet metallic sounding voice. He quietly closed the door behind him as he brandished his weapon, making it clear that he was here with some business. Braun marveled at the man’s office and the smell of the caf beverage gave the room a homely feel as he was about to desecrate it with their dubious business. The honorable Stoker swallowed his pride as he prepared to intimidate this poor young man.

The Chandrailian Senator was beginning to feel tired to the point the caf was no longer helping, he'd get up out of his seat and then stride towards the window, and then taking a look through the star-lit rolling hills. Chandrila is a planet that has a certain reputation for being easy on the eyes.

With a productive night, he'd was about to leave for the day. But before that could happen, he would hear a metallic voice calling for him. He turned around as a knee-jerk reaction and then saw a man in Sith trooper armor, closing the door and brandishing a weapon.

Alton's jaw dropped out shock. He knew that his way of thinking isn't popular with the Sith when he was running for Senator, but he never would have figured he'd be payed a visited by a Sith trooper in this manner. Alton froze up as he had his eyes fixed on the Imperial soldier and started breathing more rapidly. The young man in a bad spot too, if he tries escaping or hollering for help, then he might just get shot right off the bat. And of course he keeps no weapons in his office or on his person. Not like it would do him any good anyway.

"What... what do you want?" the young senator asked the Imperial and then kept with the deep breaths, trying to stop from going into a panic. He can only watch and see where this goes

The trooper kept his barrel targeted at the senator as he approached slowly. “I think you know at least that much senator…” He offered as he was now across the desk from the young man. “The Sith do not appreciate your stance inside of the internal government.” He expressed in a tone that sounded almost hesitant. “The Empir…The Order won’t stand for such resistance…” he continued without sounding so confident in his words. He had lost his faith in the order. After the “new” emperor had ceded most of their controlled territory, he had internally felt the Sith had lost the war. He was effectively a renegade at this point under the command of the few shadowy commanders that still seemed present in the galaxy. The Empire was dead for sure.

“A so, I’ve been sent her to convince you to vote against taking action on the order.” He expressed behind his voice scrambler. He did not desire to bring harm to the young man, regardless of his mission clearance. He was a solider not an assassin. He was only here because of the Empire’s lack of personnel in their recent descent. He waited for the senator to respond as he noticed the effective fear the fellow seemed to express in his mannerisms. The Senator hid it well, but he was certainly caught off guard by his appearance none the less.

Braun felt that his mission was originally expected to be an assassination, but he just couldn’t bring himself to be that kind of soldier. There was a difference in killing someone in fair battle and shooting an unarmed man. If the Senator looked closely at the weapon, he might notice that the stun option on the blaster was activated, rather than the lethal setting. If the senator did decide to make the poor decision and alert someone to the events inside the room however, he would certainly loose a bolt towards the fellow without thought.

This is a tense situation to Alton, it's a blatant attempt at intimidation by the Sith at blasterpoint. If Alton ever used a blaster often enough he might have been able to notice that the Sith trooper's weapon was set to stun. But as it stands right now there is the possibility that the young man's senate career could be cut short, he could be killed or kidnapped if he doesn't comply.

But with what the man said... how he said it, even among the the voice scrambler distortion, didn't seem entirely certain of his words or with that he's doing. With the dissolving of the Empire, it left it's non-Force Sensitive troopers in a questionable state. They a huge amount of their forces, assets, don't even really have much of an economy. You'd have to be either forced into staying or extremely loyal.

And to be honest Alton himself can barely remember half the time if it's the Sith Order or Empire too. As the Sith agent is speaking, Alton would also move behind the desk as well, to keep in between him and the Sith. It's not going to stop blaster shots of course but it's all he can do.

Although Alton not wanting to die, he doesn't want to submit to the Imperial's whims. While still taking deep breaths to keep calm as his heart rate is speeding up and such, he would address the Sith agent. "Wha...what if I'm not convinced? You'll shoot me? Kill me?" he asked, wondering what the Imperial's response would be.

Maybe becoming Senator in these times was a bad idea...

The man, though frightened seemed to put on a brave response. “I’ve been ordered to kill you if you don’t comply,” He said, not giving away his own disposition on the matter. He was a soldier not an assassin. He approached closer to the desk as the senator seemed to want to put distance between them. “Try anything and I’ll have no choice but to shoot, please be reasonable,” he almost pleaded as he put the weapon in a more natural posture. He was glad that his helmet masked his sweating face. He had killed men before on the battlefield, but this was something else entirely.

Their cause was dead, and this tired soldier only wanted to go home. “If you’re wiling to talk, then we can discuss the conditions of the Sith Order and their expectations.” He expressed in the direst of tones. "If not...then you will have to die," he added somberly. He was being a political aggregator and a blackmailer at this point for the scummiest group in the galaxy. Could it get any worst, he thought to himself with contempt? Was he any better now than those horrid sith that he had come to hate? He had, for a time, thought them to be heroes of their order, though one exposed to the reality he became aware of the horrors of the sith and their actions.

He watched the man with interest, half wanting to put his blaster to himself than to the man in front of him. If he didn’t follow through it might as well be the same. He would be hunted and killed for his defection. He kept his face trained forward as he asked, “Will you comply?” He said so with a seriousness that expressed how endangered the trooper was, as if being driven by an abusive parent to do something unwillingly. He tried to tame himself as his blaster remained trained on the senator.

And there he said it, he will be killed if he resists. It's a bad situation for him to be in. On paper he'd have to compromise his integrity and what he believes in to live.

But he was willing to see if he can talk this out. There didn't need to be any blood shed, anyone getting hurt, or bullied. As the Imperial agent closes in, he's finding time to be of the essence as the senator has no where to go. Clearing his throat, he'd address the trooper, panicked tone behind it, but still his words are true. "You've been ordered? Are you sure you want to do this?" he paused "The Empire is dead, the Order is dying. Nothing good would come out of this." he took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves.

He'd try to appeal to his better nature, now relaxing shoulders he'd speak with a calmer tone as well. "Do you really want to keep serving under the Order that just abandoned all their people and went back to the shadows? Would killing me or bullying me help anything?" he said. "Look man. You have a chance. The Order has no power over you here. You don't even have to return. You could just... walk away. You could be a free man..." he gave the man an alternative as he tries to de-escalate the situation. If the trooper doesn't want to do this, it was pointed out he doesn't have to. The guy doesn't have to report back to whoever he is getting orders from.

Hopefully he can get somewhere. He doesn't want to die, but the Senator doesn't want to be pushed around into compliance either. He'd take the former if possible, but even that's not preferable if he can help it
