Kyuzo War Helmet

The Kyuzo War Helmets, also known as Kyuzo War Shields, were wide-brimmed metal hats worn by the Kyuzos of Phatrong. Originally designed as a headpiece by the inhabitants of the Kwaidan Peaks to protect travelers from monsoon rains, it was adopted by the Sulddo Clovoc's. These organizations of warriors soon popularized the pragmatic weapon throughout many other Clovoc's, as the helmets were capable of being used as both an improvised defense, and an improvised weapon, should one need a bludgeoning implement for both melee and ranged combat. Simply by tilting ones head, one was capable of protecting their most sensitive areas, and it allowed for a unique variety of maneuvers and uses, especially as more and more Kyuzo leave the heavy gravity of their worlds, and find themselves in worlds where the gravity lightens themselves and their seemingly innocuous headwear.

LEGALITY

While some regions of Phatrong have outlawed the headwear, many more exist as a simple practical piece of protective helmet. Outside of Phatrong, Kyuzo themselves are rare, and their unique implements even more so. To the outside observer, the Hat is simply that, a Hat. Few have reason to suspect the headwear to be durable enough for its use as armor or a weapon, and so it remains legal throughout the galaxy.

INTENT

As a cultural icon of the Kyuzo people, a write up for the species was required to bring it in line with the rules of the site. Should a person desire a stronger version of this helmet, this entry may serve as a Baseline to increase its effectiveness. In the meantime, this helmet is intended to be the Bog Standard version of the Kyuzo War Helmet, effective for both Function and Fashion.

Type and Coverage

Type: Light Armor

Coverage: (Coverage regions for Light armor is 1-3 regions, Medium is 4-5, Heavy is 6-7)

    • Head: Resting on top of ones head as a wide-brimmed hat, one need merely tilt their neck in a direction, to shield their head and neck from harm with this shaped piece of thick-plated Durasteel. Positioning of ones head and body may allow one to shield their shoulders or torso, especially during a charge. However, doing so for extended periods of time is not advised, as it is both an awkward position to hold, and murder on ones back and core.
