The caretakers were abusive to their charges often exploiting them to perform petty theft and con jobs around the community. It was in this harsh atmosphere that the boy while resenting his predicament developed a passion for the thieving lifestyle. So began a desire for freedom and riches that grew further as time passed.
Eventually around the age of fourteen Kuro decided he can do far better on his own. As a result he ran away from the orphanage using a terrible storm as cover. Shortly thereafter the teenager snuck aboard a large freighter and left Garel for good once it took off.
Hiding in the cargo hold Kuro survived long enough before the vessel suffered an engine failure and crashed in the northern Dune Sea on Tatooine. Surviving the disaster the boy wandered aimlessly in the desert for two days and nearly died from the elements. Fortunately for him, Kuro was found and rescued in time by a party of travelers. Waking up a night later he found himself in their camp and discovered they were bandits that call themselves the Sunset Gang and were lead by an Nikto named Sawa Fi who once served in the Corellian military.
The bandit leader offered the teenager a deal to join the gang or be dropped off at the nearest settlement. Thinking it over Kuro choose the former, becoming the group’s newest member. In the following years and traveling with them in the Outer Rim he learned to be an outlaw, assisting the gang during robberies and other jobs they took. Sawa seeing how useful Kuro was becoming took the young human under his wing. From the deserter he learned how to shoot, fight with blades and fists, handle explosives also some combat tactics.
By the age of twenty one Kuro was a loyal and fierce gang member. Yet his time with them was not to last forever. Sawa Fi, his mentor would die on Terminus from a local disease. Within a few hours the Sunset Gang disbanded and it’s surviving members going their separate ways, including Kuro who in honor of his fallen mentor took on Sawa as his surname.
During the following decade being on his own he gained more experience as an outlaw. Recently the former orphan joined up with the Crimson Dawn Syndicate. For the right price and enough motivation Kuro Sawa will steal, kill and sabotage, depending on the type of job it is, of course.

One of Sawa’s most defining traits is his sharp wit. Often if he thinks he can get with away it the outlaw takes pleasure in jabbing at people and anything else. Of course Kuro has enough sense not to insult someone or something he is certain would be too much trouble. Not the kindest soul you would find in the galaxy but the brigand does believe in accomplishing whatever job he is hired for. Especially the ones that Kuro is certain would be interesting and line his pockets with credits.
Despite his roguish disposition the man strangely passionate about various forms of music and is fascinated with galactic history. Most surprisingly Kuro takes a great deal of pleasure in writing and keeps a journal, detailing his experiences across the galaxy. Kuro Sawa is no a saint and knows it. The rogue prefers to live life as he sees fit but there is a part of him wonders if things could actually be different...

Trained by an ex-soldier and being constantly on the run Sawa has become a skilled hand with firearms. He highly favors pistols but is also competent with rifles. From his mentor by both lesson and example Kuro learned a number of combat tactics. Specifically how to conduct a small raid, scouting, and gathering intelligence, sabotage and creating diversions to escape.
While knowing the basics on how to fly a light freighter and smaller starcraft Kuro is not an expert pilot. On the other hand he is a veteran driver when it comes to speeders and speeder bikes. Not a bomb specialist but Kuro Sawa knows how to make crude bombs to open some sealed doors and weak enough walls. Now his most passionate talent is the use of the blade, preferably knives. Whether it be in close quarters melee and throwing at targets Kuro is deadly with a vibroknife.
