Altering the Environment
Crusader-Level Force Training: PyroKinesis, CryoKinesis, Combustion

The Holocron hovered in the middle of the training room, and the power about it, mixing into that of the Crusaders and that from the Holocron itself, was nearly sickening to feel. Ark could feel the darkness emanating and penetrating into his very bones, and as he knelt in his own version of a meditative position, Ark's tail twitched in the very anticipation of what secrets it held. Ark was anxious, and as he enveloped the holocron with his mind in the very attempt to open it, Ark could feel that he and the other Crusader were very close to opening it.

Ark knew well what he was here for, and that was to learn. The holocron's purpose was already known, so no surprises would be in this session. In fact, Ark knew well that he was going to alter the environment with the Force, and so he left his light sabers in his quarters.

The glass that made up the dome shaped room they meditated in revealed the blizzard swirling about them. it was a cold day on Ziost, and the planet was in a particular disaccord. Ark enjoyed being able to hear the howls of the storm on the glass room, and to see precisely the flow of the snow that caused the howling in the first place. It forced the room into a particular darkness as if the lights were dimmed, but everything was still visible with ease, even for any creature that didn't have the gift of Ark's low light vision.

And finally the click sounded that indicated the opening of the holocron. Ark has opened enough holocrons that he knew exactly what he was doing now. It was a curse of Ark's ever-expanding thirst for knowledge over the Force. The light, expectedly, flooded the room as the essence of the holocron was released to fill the room. What wasn't expected though was that top of the glass dome they sit within opened to let in the vicious storm.

Surprisingly, the storm seemed to grow more vicious than any ordinary storm at that precise moment as well, as the wind twisted and contorted within the room like a serpent, and there was something dark and twisted about the storm. The dark side controlled the wind itself, and the almost palpable aura that was the wind could buffet the pair of Crusaders with ease.

Leaping form his meditative position, Ark held one paw to the sky, erecting a barrier as the storm, aided by the dark contortions of the Force, bellowed against Ark. It was clear that Ark was naturally built against such harsh weathers, but giving Ark's own difficulties with the storm, it was now obvious that the storm was far from natural as it entered the dome training room.

Pressing himself against eh very winds, Ark made his way to the control panel of the dome's roof to re close it. It was certainly something beyond the natural that caused the sky door to malfunction, and the malicious intent of the very storm itself was enough proof of it. With a reluctant slap of his paw, Ark closed the door to the dome, allowing what vicious wind to be trapped within the room. At least Ark could now let down his barrier.

He observed the wind as it contorted violently against the dome as if a trapped animal. Snow was scattered across the floor of the training room as it showed no intent of melting. The room gained an unnatural chill to it as ice grew everywhere within the room, starting at the door where a thick sheet grew at a pace that would be able to cover the entirety of the room in seconds. All so suddenly, even Ark was cold. Icicles fell from the closed door and reached for the ground as they stopped growing only just out of reach of the Crusaders.

The room they once would have considered a training room turned into an icy cavern that was unnaturally frigid. Ark's paws wrapped around him for the first time in a long time as he huddled into himself for warmth. Ark could only imagine what the hairless ape felt, as it would be increasingly colder for him.

With a slight chatter growing on his teeth, Ark's bared fangs were revealed in a natural grimace as the animalistic-behaving wind swirled into a tornado and settled in the middle of the room, enveloping the holocron where it hovered. In fact, if it weren't for Ark watching the wind settle around the holocron itself, Ark might have completely forgotten about the holocron, and not have come to the conclusion that it was the holocron's doing that terraformed the room into something so impossible.

Shaking off the cold, Ark stood attentive as the tornado collapsed into itself as a figure appeared out of the snow and wind. Wearing the classic, black cloak, it was ornamented with ice in the form of sheets and icicles, and the face was shrouded in an impossible darkness, but icicles seemed the hang out of it like a beard of frozen water.

The ice shattered and cracked as the form began to move. And finally, the icicles protruding from the dark hole that was the hood began to move up and down as if it were attached to the bottom of a jaw, "The environment can be a Sith's greatest weapon."

The voice was old, battered, and almost unperceivable by the howls that accompanied it. It was a softer, cracked voice that was weak compared to the howling of wind that seemed to be the resonating echoes of the storm that blew the figure into the dome in the form of the wind and snow.

Wanting to take a step forward, Ark slipped on a thin sheet of ice that seemed to have formed on the floor, although Ark caught his balance with the slightest of ease. It only caused Ark to lose a bit of focus on the figure as it began to speak again, in which Ark missed the first sentence.

"And with control over your environment, you can control your enemies... Any Sith wishing to master their environment must first understand their environment."

Ark's spine shivered in more than one way as the hooded figure spoke. Suddenly it raised an arm to point at Mitsuki. The finger nor hand were visible, but once again, ice flowed out of the sleeve as it actually grew into an icicle that reached for the ground. Pieces of ice snapped from the figure whenever he moved even in the slightest, and it was impressive to say the least. It made Ark wonder if it was actually a true rendition of a Force user that once existed, or if it was simply the imagination of whoever created the holocron. Never before has Ark experienced a holocron that effected the environment in such a way. In fact, as most holocrons could simulate and actually make someone think they were smelling something disgusting, or think they were drowning, this holocron was different. Not only did it actually open the dome up to the blizzard that rages outside of the training room, but it also sucked it into the room, augmented the effects of the blizzard, and covered the room in ice. Ark was incapable of being able to tell exactly what was real and what was the holocron. Was the room actually covered in ice by some power of the Force that the holocron wielded? Were they really freezing and trapped?

Still pointing at Mitsuki, it finally spoke after an unbearable silence, "What do you see in your environment?"

Watching as the holocron levitated eerily in the center of the room, Mitsuki sat down crossed-legged across from Ark. There was good reason for why she avoided Zoist's frozen surface, the teenage sorceress had grown a dislike of cooler climates. A habit that was cultivated from hailing from a tropical moon, where the the summers were hot and the winters were nonexistent. Wearing a hooded puff jacket Mitsuki did her best not to succumb to the cold that quickly etched into the room. Soon she were more focused as to why they weren't given proper air conditioning rather than sit in a frozen tomb for the duration of this lesson. Ironic how the outside of this freezer would prove more hospitable than the frigid outdoors.

Nonetheless, she was grateful that she were in the presence of good company, though, asking too huddle together to keep warm seems a little out of the question. She was probably too clean shaven for him anyway. Finally the dark side began to manifest around the floating holocron as the blizzard spirits began to congregate around the Sith box finally opening up revealing the man that would be instructing them. She had no idea what, but hopefully it had something to do with keeping the elements at bay. Or a spell to conjure a hot-coco. Either way she'd leave happy. The holographic image of the Sith lord begin to speak, something about the environment being a Sith's greatest asset.

After a long silence, the holographic man asked her a question "What do you see in your environment?"

Thinking for only a quick second Mitsuki responded with her answer, though she had a lingering doubt that it wouldn't suffice anyway. "I see nothing but an obstacle to overcome."

The Sith nodded his head, and turned his attention towards the wolf-man seemingly taking note of her response before asking him the same. "And what of you? What do you see in your environment?"

"I see nothing but an obstacle to overcome."

The answer registered, but barely as the manifestation of their teacher gave the simplest of answers in response, "Truth."

Reanimating, the cloaked figure dropped its ghostly hand back to its side. It then knelt down to the ground and allowed the sleeve of the cloak to draw a circle as it touched the ground, and from within the cloak's boundaries, they heard a knocking as the sleeve shook along with the knocks. The figure returned to standing upright as it began to speak again, "Ice... Water, to be less specific."

Suddenly, the iced over ceiling of the glass dome began to drip; Slowly at first, but soon, the dripping turned into a sprinkling as they were littered with enough water to make them uncomfortable in their environment, but not enough to soak them. Damp and cold, the light rain turned into mist. The mist was hot to the skin, but before long, the mist morphed once more into snowflakes that fell onto the icy floor of the training room. The dampened clothing the two Crusaders wore turned into a thin crust of ice as the overwhelming cold returned with the snow.

Though Ark couldn't see into the hood, he cold for some reason imagine a smile on the face of the holocron's projection before it spoke again, "Water. It has been the poster boy for a changing environment since the Galaxy discovered it could change from ice to water to steam. It embodies the simplest change from hot to cold with the greatest show of change. Around you is water. You can see it in one of its forms. To change the water, your environment, from ice to steam is to control your environment. The only question is how."

He paused and turned toward Ark, raising his cloak once more to hear the ice snapping and cracking as he did so, "Can you tell me how water changes from ice to steam?"

Ark thanked the Force for allowing the holocron to ask him the question that would require a more scientific approach, and with reluctance, he takes a breath before answering, "Energy. The water molecules within ice are devoid of energy and are thus closer to motionless, whereas the water molecules in steam are very active."

Registering the answer, the figure freezes as it responds, "Truth."

It then returns to a kneeling position to set its hand, assumedly, back onto the ice, "Touch the ice. Reach out with the force, and sense the water molecules within the ice. Feel how they are devoid of energy and how they refuse to move. Then I want you to draw upon the Force. Utilize the energy required to move them, and I want you to focus it. Focus the energy within the molecules, and give them life. Focus hard, and the molecules will vibrate faster and faster until the ice melts."

Ark kneels down to the ice and places a large paw onto the ice. The shape of his paw was unique upon the ice as it was humanoid, but retained the shape of his ancestors still seen, more or less, in his feet. Regardless of the shape of his feet, Ark concentrates on drawing the Force to his palm. The energy concentrates at the diameter of his palm and it soon disperses into the surrounding ice. Suddenly, Ark could sense the molecules beginning to vibrate. They vibrated slowly at first only barely moving, but with further concentration and more energy being drawn, Ark could feel the ice actually begin to warm underneath his paw.

Before long, Ark's paw became soaked in water and he could even see his hand in a shallow puddle of water that reached all the way through the thin layer of ice and to the floor. In shock, Ark could even see the surrounding ice begin to dissolve into the puddle around his paw.

Mitsuki sat down with her arms crossed liked a spoiled brat as their instructor failed to get to the point. Secretly she was impressed by imagines power. She had never seen someone alter the weather to such an extent. Her frown quickly turned upside down as she watched ice turn to water and back again. The gears started turning in the young sorceress' head as she began to formulate ways to use water to her advantage in an actual fight. Or she would make a hot-tub. Either use would prove suitable for a rising Sith lord.

She watched as Ark turned ice into water. He used scientific reasoning to justify his powers. It seems to be an advanced use of telekinesis, exciting the molecules in the water to produce heat and if it were ice turn it into water, and furthermore water into steam. Though, she theorized that manipulating water into outside of its natural state would be extremely hard. She created her own puddle right after Ark. Rattling the molecules together to produce energy, transforming the ice in front of her into ice.

"Can we use this technique to produce steam?" Mistuki said, speaking for once out of turn. "If steam is a gas wouldn't we need to pull the molecules apart while simultaneously heating them up as well?"

If so, this would prove a challenge to do on the molecular scale.

Ark could see that Mistuski too was having a relatively easy time with the same task, but neither of them were making steam. And that was certainly something in considering that Ark was giving quite a bit of energy to melting the ice, but for no success in so much as creating any bubbles. The puddle he was creating merely expanded.

Mitsuki's question came to the creature, poised in a motionless observation over the pair of their progress. And only upon completion of the question did it answer her, "False. Naturally, all water requires to turn from water to steam is energy. The molecules effected by the energy, in the form of heat, will become more active to the point that their expense of energy causes them to expand on their own, simply by the heat."

The holocron's observation of their progress realized that their expense of energy, though great, was futile in managing to create steam, "To create steam, you need more heat. You need more energy in higher concentration. Heat has the tendency to spread to where there is no heat. So in failing to concentrate the energy manually, the extra efforts put into attempting to create steam are useless, as the energy will simply expand further and further. You must concentrate the energy to create steam."

Duh. Ark could have smacked himself. He already knew that heat radiated. And so failing to realize this sooner was just an utter failure in his own eyes. Ark, however, blamed it on the abnormally cold weather that now filled the room that was effecting his capacity to think as clearly. Ark shook it off as he concentrated the power to the smallest confines of merely his palm. It was where the energy was created, and the only difference now is that it was where the energy was confined by the will of the Force. And with minimal efforts, Ark could feel the ease in which the water began to instantaneously boil over. Of 'course, his puddle was very large now, and only the center of his puddle boiled directly into steam at a rather alarming rate, until, finally, the puddle was empty.

Ark lifted his hand from the empty puddle in which the training room floor actually glowed red where his palm was once placed. It hissed at the melting of the surrounding ice that left drops of water roll over the red pot on the floor. Ark was suddenly very enthusiastic about the new ability he'd learned. In fact, the very notion reminded him a lot of other Force powers he intended to learn one day. However, he restrained himself as he realized that he had more to learn from the holocron.

The holocron observed the both of their progress with a motionless stare that could be felt from behind the shadows of his hood.

It would seem the Mitsuki had been over complicating things a little too much. Once the appropriate amount of heat was obtained, the molecules would excite themselves. It was a kin to giving a child spending money. Eventually they wouldn't know what to do with it and simply expend all of it on their own. But she suspected it would be in short duration. A child would blow all their money on one place, and she suspected that molecules were no different. Once they applied the right amount of energy she suspected that the energy retained would wear off shortly.

Nonetheless, she placed her hands on the ice next to her, turning the white ice into a pool of clear water, and finally heating them so that the water quickly boiled over into steam. She applied her use of tutaminus to make sure she didn't burn her hands in the process.

Looking back up at the Sith she awaited her next instruction, for now this was child's play to any force user who could focus on the molecular level.

Easy. It was easy for the pair of Crusaders, and thankfully so. In fact, if it were hard for either of them to figure it out, it might even worry Ark, because the information needed to perform such tasks was easy to understand why. The only real difficulty was the idea that they had to draw the energy in such a manner directly from the force and put into raw heat, but concentrating it. In fact, Ark can relate it best to his class on Force Spark, though instead of containing the energy in an electric form, it was a more precisely contained version that utilized Heat instead.

Ark raised his paw out of the small cloud of mist. With both of the Crusaders completed with their task, the ice in the room all began to melt at an alarming rate. Very quickly, they found themselves ankle deep in a flood of water. In fact, the water was rather warm instead of the icy cold that Ark expected. And for the first time, Ark could feel the air around him warm up as well from the unbearably cold climate created before.

And then the holocron's representation came back to life. The figure swayed, as if to some breeze, before is began to speak again, "Now we must do the opposite and return he water to its frozen form; Return it to the form in which is it lifeless and devoid of energy. Not like tutaminis, but by dispersing the energy from your targeted area. In nature, energy spreads evenly, dispersing itself wherever there is a lack of energy. So, to control your environment by making the ice from the water at your feet, you must remove the energy, and disperse it evenly across the rest of your environment. You can, if you choose, absorb that energy through tutaminis; However, that is not my lesson."

Ark could have guessed that much, and with ease, the explanation was understood the moment it was spoken. Crouching back down into the water, Ark hovers his paw over the water, careful not to touch it. And focusing on the confinement taught in the pyrokinesis, Ark keeps the effects of the attempted ability to be only just beneath the palm. And Ark grabs hold of the energy beneath him, the very same energy that keeps the water capable of such fluid movement, in which is sloshes up and down his knee as he crouches. And with a hold of all the energy within the small bubble of water beneath his paw, Ark exorcises it to the farthest reaches of the room. The energy, still felt, blankets everything from his palm to the walls in the thinnest, and imperceptible, layer of energy. And suddenly, Ark's palm feels the coolness of the transfer and dispersion of energy.

Puffs of condensed air wafts out from underneath Ark's, still hovering, paw; And as Ark removes his paw, a tiny iceberg floats out from underneath the paw. Plucking it from the water, Ark can see the ice in the form of an almost perfect sphere, just as Ark created the orb of force energy that would have contained it. Only a very small half-sphere melted from where it floated within the warmer waters. In amazement, Ark dropped the palm-sized ice ball into the water where it splashed.

She listened closely as the magi-tech box continued to give direction. It said that they somehow needed to disperse the energy equally throughout the environment to return the water back into ice. The hologram mentioned that the energy can be consumed into oneself, but it was another lesson for another day. She would try to absorb the energy for herself, but didn't want to look like a fool in front of her friend. Nevertheless, she'd start this instruction off right without doing anything fancy.

Placing her hand over the pool of water she began dispersing the energy across the rather cold room equally. It was easy for it was an already frozen room, but the sorceress expected that it would be harder in more temperate environments. The water below her began to turn into sheets of clear ice, finally forming into a solid block of ice. Raising both hands into the air she turned the ice back into water, creating a wave of liquid. With the wave suspended in air, she again turned it into ice, making a wall of ice in its stead.

Hmph

"Nice."

It seemed that Ark's fellow student was as easily drawing upon the ability as Ark was, she even went as far to experiment on her own with the ability. The holocron was quick to jump back to life upon both of their successes in the first stages of the ability. It crouched down to the water, and with a sleeve dipped into it, an ice pedestal arose at two individual points from the water next to each Crusader, "Stand upon it," it ordered.

Ark quickly did so, reluctantly leaving his soaked legs to drip before the holocron spoke again, "Where you'd like to concentrate heat, pyrokinesis is more to effect an object close to you; However, you'd be better off utilizing cryokinesis to effect an entire body of water, turning it all to ice. Sure, a ball of ice has its uses, but a path of ice to walk across, or to freeze a foe within has much better uses. I want you to expand your control over the body of water that fills this room. And with a blanket of energy absorbing, cast it out upon your target, and soak the energy away from the water, where it will freeze as a whole; And then you will disperse it into your distant surroundings where the energy in such a small quantity will easily become nothing."

Ark could have snorted at the fact that he'd just done each the pyrokinesis and cryokinesis backwards, but instead focused on rectifying the mistake with a use of the ability that utilized the full potential of the ability. Dropping his paw, once more, to the water, Ark reached out across the water in a rather small area of effect considering the size of the room, and began to raise the heat energy out of the water, where sheets of ice immediately formed across the surface. Expanding his exertion of the ability over the ice, Ark drew energy from deep within the water, where the sheet of ice thickened almost to the full depth of the room, and feeling that he'd managed it, Ark dispersed the energy collected into the surrounding dome. Looking outward as if to see the energy itself leaving the room, Ark could see that much of the snow outside the glass began to melt into rain that pattered on top of the glass dome of the training room. However, the water, dripping down the glass quickly froze from the mere intensity of the blizzard. It seems that Ark could de better at dispersing the energy afterwards, but otherwise, he was quite successful in utilizing the cryokinesis to turn a large section of the floor into ice again.

Watching Ark take up all the glory, Mitsuki sat there waiting for her turn. She was impressed by Ark's skill and finesse, but she was sure she could do better. Once it was her turn, she continued to sit cross-legged on the ground, but simply began to levitate off the blistering cold floor. Closing her eyes and concentrating on the frozen ice beneath her she focused she gave life to the molecules underneath her hovering body to the solid-white ice violently back into water, hopefully leaving the kitty soaking wet.

With the energy from the ice gone, she focused on the air around her. She moved the energy around her like a tornado, and began to excite them once more turning the frozen air hot, before ceasing movement entirely turning the hot steam into little frozen ice sickles. Slowly descending to the ground, MItsuki froze a little ice ring in the water for her to finally sit on before crossing her arms - one upping her friend here.

Ark had thought, initially, that he'd given Mitsuki enough room to operate, with an entire half of the training room to herself, but maybe it didn't matter just how much room there was, as much as there was an opportunity to showcase power. Ark was actually very much used to Sith like that; Their desire to show as much power as possible at any given moment was something commonly seen across the Temples. In fact, Ark too was a victim of the allure to impress. Although, Ark was patient and reserved in most cases, when he felt the urges of his arrogant nature, he sometimes couldn't help himself as much as any other power-seeking Sith could. In fact, Ark has done this most often during the victories of a duel.

Regardless of what reasons she had for melting the entire floor, Ark didn't let her do it to Ark's little pedestal. If there was one thing Ark had a great distaste for, it was for water. Sure, swimming and rain were fine, but only as long as it was on his own terms. And as the melt expanded across the floor of the room, Ark concentrated the freezing application of cryokinesis onto the chunk of ice. The concentration of the energies would easily combat the spread out application of her pyrokinesis.

However, Ark couldn't help, but t be intrigued by her decision to apply the abilities in such a manner to freeze the moisture in the air. For a brief moment, the air boiled in heat, before concentrations of cold whipped the hot air into pieces of ice that rained into the pools of water below the air. The chunks of ice quickly melted inside the water, but until then, they would float.

The holocron, yet again, jumped to life as if it were merely being paused as Ark and Mitsuki applied their new knowledge, "Acceptable."

If Ark didn't know the hologram In the middle of the, once more frozen, room, Ark would have been offended by the manner in which the two Crusaders' applications of the Force were acceptable; However, Ark discounted it as the only programmed response the holocron's creator gave the figure. It suddenly froze several chunks of water, hoisting them into the air, where they burst into a thousand shards of ice. Ark and Mitsuki alike, were pelted with the fine dust of the chunks of ice all exploding simultaneously.

"Combustion. It is commonly mistaken, due to the misnomer, for the ability to set aflame objects. It is, in fact, the ability to utilize the mass of an object against itself to cause it to explode outward. The bigger the object, the more energy is necessary, and the more necessary energy, the bigger the explosion," it stated, explaining how the combustion power worked.

That, unfortunately, was as much as Ark could have gotten out of a book, and disappointedly, Ark froze a fist-sized - although Ark's fist was much larger than any human's -, and lifted it from the water. Ark hovered the chunk of ice from the water, where the final drops rolled off the side, and he kept it at a fair distance from himself. It wasn't too big, nor too small, it wasn't too far away, nor too close. It was a perfect test.

As Ark began to focus on the chunk of ice, it was very abruptly broken by the holocron's voice, "Focus the energy into a single point deep within the object's core. When you're ready, you will sense that the object has the necessary amount of energy. Then you release it into all surrounding directions, and the necessary energy will perfectly match the mass of the object, causing it to explode. Too much or too little energy will drastically alter the effect of the object's detonation. It must be just right, or the explosion simply will not occur."

Mitsuki followed Ark in kind, bringing forth a sphere of ice only for it to shatter under its own weight to the tune of the holocron's voice. Taking a quick second to assess the situation, Mitsuki, again lifted another ball of water from the pool of clear water beneath her, sapping the energy to turn the dripping sphere into solid ice. Finally, commanding the force in front of her to move the over sized snowball a sizable distance away from her.

Concentrating on the ball of ice's frozen core she located a point within its center and gave the floating object a massive amount of energy, releasing it into all directions. The ball of ice shattered into all directions. The tiny shards of ice bounced off of Mitsuki's skin in the face of the mini explosion that had just happened.

In interesting trick, but she wondered how this ability could be used outside of the kiddy pool.

The holocron, predictably, jumps to life with the final explosion, "The mass of the object is directly relative to the potency of the explosion. that means that denser materials will have a greater explosion. Fluids, such as water, will have lesser explosions than such things as lead. Moving targets are significantly more difficult to focus on, but are certainly capable of combustion all the same."

The holocron, satisfied with its progress in the lesson begins to cause the Water and ice all about the to simply vanish. The sky roof opens in part, and the excess escape before any of the freezing, blizzard, air can even enter the room. The vacuum-like sound signifies the end of the current lesson in combustion, and leads the holocron to its next lesson.

Finally, the holocron raises its cloaked hands to its side, where the sleeves fall down just enough to reveal the oldest of hands. They could have been literally skin and bones, or simply bones judging by how pale they were. And in its outstretched palms, fires ignite in a poof. And in a surprising glimpse of martial prowess, the holocron's representation punched forwards, across, and in other various directions; And all along the way, fire gasped, exploded, and roared as it trailed behind the fists. At the finish of the performance, The fire in each fist dropped to the damp ground, still ignited, and it caused a sizzle as steam rose. Then the fire crawled across the floor to the feet of each Crusader, where it sat, no logs or catalyst to keep it going. In it's path, it left a trail of steam and scorched flooring.

"Now that you can heat up your environment, you will learn how to control fire, and to create it from the thin air," it explained as it let each fire die in front of them.

Now, Ark was impressed. And Ark didn't even knew the extent of effect that Pyrokinesis even had until now. Now, his attention was fully grasped, and he even leaned forward a bit to listen as it spoke again.

"Like you did with the water molecules, you need to vibrate the air molecules, but far more extensively. Air molecules, being gaseous, are much farther apart, and the energy you'll need for them to create fire is much greater. And when the air has heated up enough, you'll focus energy in the core of the effected area, as if an explosion from combustion, and you'll ignite the fire."

Fire out of thin air? A skill that would prove extremely useful. Set a room ablaze or get rid of evidence in a storm of fire. Of course it only made sense that if you could turn water into ice, you should be able to turn thin air ablaze. And if you could make inanimate objects blow up out of nowhere then making fire appear out of thin air should be no problem. Mitsuki imagined a ball in her hand and focused the molecules around her hand. The sorceress began focusing energy on the imaginary sphere.

With a thought Mitsuki's hand caught on fire and burned her flesh. She quickly clasped both hands together using her other hand to siphon the energy from the burnt one to put out the flames. Holding her breath to not let out the screams, Mitsuki grasped her wrist and began to heal her burnt wound.

Watching Mitsuki's mistake, Ark was swiftly reminded of the risks taken in using energy-based Force abilities. Log ago, as a Acolyte, Ark had been taught to create a barrier with the Force for the power to be made behind. It protects the user while the ability is utilized, and unfortunately, not all holocrons are as thorough as to ensure their users know that before utilizing that ability.

Creating the barrier first, Ark vibrated the air molecules together, and filled the superheated air with raw force energy as it slowly filled to the point that it had a light explosion. Ignition. A spark ignited a flame in Ark's flesh paw, and Ark held it there a moment. It was actually quite amazing how truly easy it was to create the fire; however, Ark supposed that it made sense. With their former explanation of heating water up with the same technique, creating a flame was simply a single step further.

Ark let the flame die out as he ceased to feed it, and only the white dot that appeared only when Ark blinked was left of its existence.

"Good," the holocron's cloaked figure states with a sinister sound to it, "Now, you will learn to control the fire. You can ignite a fire, and you can allow it to move and grow upon your own will, by feeding it with pure energy from the Force. However, the longer you sustain a larger fire, the faster you will drain you energies."

In light of her previous failure the young Sith took it upon herself to simply try again. This time exhibiting more control and focus around the targeted area. She spawned the flame close to her hand, but not as hot as before, allowing any energy that would harm her to simply siphon off as energy back into her pores. Just like mastering lightning she would have to take extra precautions to help mitigate the damaging potential of fire.

Following the holocrons instruction she held out her hand in front of her; giving the flame more juice as focused on the ball of flame. She could feel her energy drain as she gave life to it and also had to take more care not to burn herself as the flame got bigger in her palm.

Ark concentrates on the fire in front of him. It was energy, derived from the world around him and from within him, and the way the Force flowed through it, Ark could feel the livelihood of it. It was never static, and always moving. It never seemed to slow down nor speed up, but simply fed off of its surroundings and Ark's energies. The heat it emitted radiated outwards, where the air bubbled upwards into the room to eventually even out into the slightly chilled air. Then, Ark fed it more energies, turning them into the high-friction point in his hand. The fire ate it up and expanded. Soon enough, Ark's miniature barrier was fighting to keep the fiery licks back in place, and was forced to expand his defenses.

Finally, Ark decided that it was time to release the fire from his grasp, and he placed his hand onto the ground, where the flames were free to lick the floor. And little by little, Ark moved the concentration of the energy. And where it moved, the fire blew, as if a small gust of wind, into that direction, never really dying down, but simply shifting, as if taking steps off Ark's paw.

Before long, Ark realized that it was actually quite easy to grow and shrink the flame, as well as it was to shift the flame's concentration, and Ark expended the flame as it crawled at a fair speed around Ark into a circle where he knelt on the ground, encompassing him completely. Ark then looked over to see how Mitsuki was fairing, because when he'd first looked over, she was experimenting with growing the size of a flame. It wouldn't be long until she was experimenting with moving the flam as well.

When they'd both finished their attempts, the Holcron would shift back into animation as the central representation of the holocron began to commend them for making it through the holocron, "Good. Your lesson in altering the environment has concluded. Your skills should be practiced, honed, and explored. There are many uses for each of these skills that you can draw upon," it said before pausing for a moment, and then reanimating, "Would like to see how these skills can benefit you, the user, instead of the environment?"

Ark was always thirsty for knowledge, but the prospect of using these abilities to benefit himself, as opposed to the environment, was a tempting offer that Ark simply couldn't pass up. Ark would nod, "I would," and he awaited Mitsuki's response as the holocron did. However, the holocron had essentially taught them how to alter the environment, and it wouldn't be dishonorable for Mitsuki to walk out knowing what she already does from the holocron.

And almost as if it never planned on asking for both of their permission, it began the next lesson with or without Ark and Mitsuki, "Convection. It applies the skills of PyroKinesis and CryoKinesis to the user safely."

Ark nodded as if it was obvious information he was gaining here, but in reality he hadn't the slightest clue how they related. As far as Ark knew, Convection had something to do with his skin itself. However, Ark was sure that he'd figure it out soon enough with the instructions of the holocron.

The holocron almost seemed rushed as it moved and explained the skill, "With Convection, you must alter your skin chemistry to be able to vibrate as you do with Pyrokinesis, but to do that, your body must channel the Force at the outermost layer of body, being your skin. In doing this, the Force will become the layer of your body that can maintain vibrations without sacrificing your body's normal composition and function. You must flow the energy about your body like a river of heated energy. You may confine it if you need to, and you can alter the intensity of the burn as well. The heat must always be moving about you though, hence the name, convection."

Ark actually picked up the reasoning pretty well, though there didn't seem to be any real scientific explanation he cold draw upon immediately. He didn't hesitate to try it out, and giving his previous attempts at pyrokinesis, it was actually very easy to utilize despite the risk it entailed. Any false move, it seemed, and he'd become roasted Cat.

Interrupted Ark's use of Convection, Ark let the heat simmer out, while he stepped back to find his foot prints scorched into he floor where he'd once stood, "The opposite is also true," the holocron stated, "You can also cool yourself off in hot climates by dispersing the energy your skin picks up into the environment around you."

Doing the opposite, dispersing the energy from the skin outward, Ark could instantly feel the heat, built up from the convection attempt, disappear. It was, for a lack of a better explanation, like magic. And the beset part was that it could be turned on an off like a turbine. If Ark got too hot, he'd simply cool off with the cooler end of Convection, where if he got too cold, he cold warm up with the warmer end of convection.

Finally, the holocron, without warning simply disappeared without a trace. There was no operating of the sky door, nor was there any big show as there was before. Simply Gone, leaving the pyramid-device inactive in the middle of the training room, where Ark bent over to pick it up.
