Kento Nion was born to an innocent life on Corellia. When he was young, his Force-sensitivity was detected by a passing Jedi ambassador who took him in to the Jedi Order for training. Kento eventually became his Padawan learner, having a particular liking for investigative missions, including ones where he operated undercover. As a result, many details of his life are classified. Kento's extensive time outside of Jedi locales forced him to be self-dependent, prompting him to learn survival skills and various other talents associated with those who did not have access to the Force.
Kento's bond with his Master developed as they spent more time together. Like most apprentice-master duos, they shared a Force Bond, and it was particularly powerful because they both had a natural affinity for the Living Force. As a result, they each became the only things that were fully trusted by the other - apart from the Force.
Years ago, during a mission on Kashyyyk, Kento and his Master fought against Trandoshan slavers who had come to take Wookiees. The duo eventually tracked the slavers to their master - a Sith Lord who had struck a deal with the Trandoshans to take several Wookiee slaves as part of his own army. Kento fought bravely alongside his Master, but they were outmatched by the Sith Lord. Despite this, both Jedi were prepared to lay down their lives so that as many Wookiees as possible could escape, but Kento's Master instructed him to lead the Wookiees to safety whilst he held off the Sith Lord. Obeying, Kento and the Wookiees fled, and his Master was struck down. Kento never saw his Master's last moments, but he felt his death through the Force.
When he returned to the Jedi Temple on Tython, Kento was Knighted for the courage, wisdom and insight that he showed on Kashyyyk. It was also assumed that he had passed a Trial of Skill because he had fought a Sith Lord and lived to tell the tale. Despite accepting Knighthood, Kento has always felt a need to prove himself, and he has refused to give thought to the idea of training an apprentice of his own until he brings justice for his former Master.

Kento is best known for his plain nature. He is organized and determined, preferring to live in the moment but still having a sense of planning for the future. To accommodate this, Kento is well-learned and well-travelled; he knows many subjects and can speak or comprehend many languages. Resourceful but stoic, he is known to be relatively taciturn and sometimes secretive among his Jedi peers, and prefers to work alone, although he is not reclusive. Though compassionate, Kento maintains a neutral and withdrawn tone when communicating with anyone other than those he trusts. His trust is difficult to earn, but rewarded with unremitting loyalty. Apart from his Master, the only thing he places his full trust in so far is the Force.
Kento harbours a desperate need to prove himself, perhaps because he is uncertain of the legitimacy of his Knighthood. This inspires him to perform deeds that his Master would be proud of. He has a strong aspiration to do what is right, and has a strong sense of justice. Kento has an equally strong faith in the Living Force, which he feels strongly connected to, at the cost of limited contact with the Unifying Force. Thus Kento relies on feeling the thoughts and emotions of living beings rather than the currents of the Force itself; he is rarely given premonitions of future events.
Like many Jedi, Kento views the Sith as corrupt evils and blights on the galaxy. Here, his strong sense of justice prevails - he believes it is just to rid the galaxy of the Sith. Despite this, Kento is not eager to rush headlong into battle with the Sith at every opportunity - his encounter with the Sith Lord that slew his Master has taught him a lesson he feels many Jedi have not learned. Kento often maintains a level head and is almost always calm and collected. He has habit of preparing for any major event that he will partake in - usually this involves a plan B.
