Kayi Ree

Description:

The Kayi Ree is a weapon made by the Nav'ir based on Electro-whip technology, sporting different colored electrified wire depending on the exact model. Most variants of the weapon, mainly the ones used by Nav'ir, have a purple or blue hue to its cable. The Kayi Ree tends to be a guard's weapon, difficult to use by anyone not properly trained with it. The release mechanism for the cable is controlled through the handle, where pulling the four finger rings to the handle let's the wire extend out without being hindered by locks. There is some control on release with the weapon, the different sections being able to come apart independently. Pulling the index, middle and ring fingers to the handle will exclusively release the bladed end and pulling inward on the index and middle fingers will release it at the handle's end. Pulling the thumb loop close to the handle locks the cable at whatever length it happens to be at allowing to firmly hold the weapon at whatever desired length, and if all finger rings are released from the user's grip The weapon automatically retracts itself. The flail is powered through a battery cell found in the circular handle, an electrified wire running through the shaft of the weapon until it reaches the mace-like blades on the other side. Both the shaft of the weapon in addition to the black parts of the handle and blades are made from a phrik and durasteel alloy, effectively making it lightsaber resistant for the purposes of fighting against one. The Kayi Ree is a rare weapon even among Nav'ir, and few train with it over a standard sword, due to the relative cost involved in having a weapon with Phrik as a primary component. Most the average person will see of this weapon would be in military or special forces use, though some Nav'ir that have been trained in the weapon's use either make their own if able to get the materials or commission one from a weapon maker for personal use.

Intent: The Nav'ir have a generic sword and knife, but neither were overly specialized weapons. I felt like writing this flail would give an interesting option for pvp when it came to melee weapons, with the Kayi Red being a rather unique weapon. The Kayi Ree is meant to serve as one of the more traditional, but also harder to use, Nav'ir weapons in a hopefully long line of Nav'ir originating technology. Rather than just having the species and being done with that, I want to expand upon it and make them have a sense of presence when it comes to weaponry and armor to better flesh them and their culture out past the basic species profile. After thousands of years of wars, there's bound to be a few cool and interesting weapons right?[/beebox3]

After discussion, we feel like there's too much going on with this to make it also a lightsaber weapon. Not to mention that electrowhips and lightwhips are functionally different. I know you say it has to be modified for that, but we don't believe it would be an appropriate "fit". So you'll have to remove that part.

All mention of light-whip tech has been removed and the description was edited accordingly, would there be any other edits you'd like for me to make?

Can you extend only one side at a time or does it have to be both? Might want to clarify that because I can almost guarantee it'll come up, lo..

Edited the description to include the actual mechanics behind the extending/retracting part of the weapon.
