BIOGRAPHY

The crusader. The healer. The protector; these were but a few titles bestowed upon the Rattataki hero during her service to the Jedi. From humble beginnings, she rose through the ranks and became a Knight of the Order. It made her fall all the more tragic.

Hailing from the war-torn planet of Rattatak, Kamala was smuggled offworld along with her refugee family; her mother and father had foolishly supported an ill-fated coup and were now fleeing for their lives, fearing the fatal consequences that awaited them. However, due to the insular nature of Rattatak, the couple were unfamiliar with the vast galaxy and its content. Bounty hunters began mercilessly tracking them, hoping to claim the rewards on their heads. Kamala’s mother was first to fall, shot down in a crowded market; fleeing the scene with his infant child in his arms, Kamala’s father sought safe haven. By chance he came across a Jedi temple; believing they were some sort of charitable religious sect, he begged the Order for shelter. Even as an infant, the Jedi could sense Kamala's force sensitivity and innate potential; they offered to take her and ensure her safety amongst their Order. Believing it was ultimately for the best, Kamala’s father relented and hand her over. Shortly after he departed, he was gunned down on the steps of the Jedi Temple.

Unaware of her exact origins, Kamala was raised amongst the Jedi alongside other younglings. Under the stern guidance of overseers and temple masters, the Rattataki grew up into a strong and vibrant young woman, gifted in the art of combat as well as healing. In her late adolescents, she was placed under the tutelage of Jedi Master Puk’Ro, a human male with a history of impeccable service and dedication. Master and student worked well together; Puk’Ro was a caring and diligent teacher whilst Kamala was enthusiastic and driven. It was hoped the pair would accomplish great things in the name of the Jedi. When conflicts with the Exiles across, it was only natural for the duo the answer the call to arms. Master Puk’Ro did hold some reservations, fearing his student was too young to see the horrors of war. But Kamala was insistent, citing that all Rattataki were inadvertently predisposed to combat. She reverently followed her master into the fray, offering capable support and defence.

But not even this was enough; in one particularly gruesome encounter, Master Puk’Ro was grievously wounded. Kamala did her best to sustain his life until further reinforcements arrived. Though the battle was ultimately won, Master Puk’Ro was left with life changing injuries. Kamala may have saved his life, but the damage done was permanent; the human was severely crippled and unable to continue his extensive service to the Jedi. In no way, shape or form did Master Puk’Ro blame Kamala, he fully acknowledged that without her healing, he probably would have succumbed to his wounds. Nevertheless, the Rattataki could not forgive her own shortcomings. She decided to abandon her battle glories and instead dedicate her newly appointed knighthood to developing and honing her healing skills.

Kamala stationed herself on a remote outpost and soon became accustomed to the tranquil temple life; it was quiet existence, away from the shadows and echoes and war. The outpost was used as a sort of retreat for some, including a collection point for young Jedi hopefully. Very quickly, the Rattataki fostered a maternal bond for the younglings being collected there. Though predominantly a healer, Kamala also acted as an overseer and chaperone. Truly, she cared for them as if they were her own, watching as they matured and departed on their life journeys. So, when the temple was attacked by an overly ambitious cluster of pirates, Kamala was to come to the temple’s defence. She fought viciously. Fiercely. For threatening her young charges, Kamala showed no mercy. Though the fighting was brutal, it was soon over. Against the unfavourable odds, the slavers were forced into a resounding retreat; but the damage had been done. Several younglings had been killed during the botched assault, with nearly a dozen more abducted in the retreat. Kamala demanded an immediate rescue party be organised, fearing for the wellbeing of the children. But she was ordered to wait whilst the council debated their options; the pirates had ventured back into the Outer Rim, uncharted space where the word of the Jedi was virtually non-existent. Thought the trafficking of force sensitive children was a constant and ongoing threat, there were arguably more immediate matters that needed to be addressed elsewhere; the loss of the younglings, for the time being, was not a priority. Kamala was outraged. She berated and slated the council for their apparent callousness (which she also accused as cowardice). She questioned how an order as powerful as the Jedi could tolerate such insult and injustice.

When cautioned against her actions, she openly rebelled and abandoned her post, intent on recovering the remaining younglings herself. Like a seasoned hunter, Kamala tracked down the pirates; there were no strangers to her. She had encountered their guild before during her more active years of service. Despite their numerous, repetitive crimes, the Jedi had never enforced a permanent sanction on them (something which Kamala and Master Puk’Ro disagreed with). Though the Rattataki attempted to use peaceful means at first, she soon reverted to sheer force in order to gain the information, believing time was of the essence to save her young charges. What she learnt horrified her; the younglings were scattered across the galaxy already, sold to various seedy characters and organisations; when one pirate mocked her, sordidly regaling her with vile stories and possibilities; before Kamala realised what she was doing, she killed him along with the rest of the crew. Though initially shocked at her own actions, she quickly tried to rationalise her thoughts; pushing the images of their mangled bodies aside, Kamal set out to recover the younglings. Each endeavour proved ultimately devastating; some had been sent to fighting pits, killed within mere days of their arrival for the amusement of deviant onlookers. Others had become broken minded slaves, unable to even recognise the protector they once respected. Each experience took an ungodly toll on the Rattataki. Never had she suffered such failure. Never had she felt so powerless. Perhaps adding further insult to injury, for abandoning her post and defying council orders, Kamala was branded an Exile and permanently expelled from the Jedi Order.

Everything had been lost. Her reputation. Her standing amongst the Order who raised her. Even the lives of her young charges were lost; taken and tainted by the debauched evil in the galaxy. Why? Constantly, she asked herself why? Why had such evil been allowed to fester? Why hadn’t the Jedi and Republic stamped it out? Why was she being punished for committing crimes she thought were justified and righteous? Why had the Jedi done nothing to aid her? Why had they turned her back on her, after her loyal years of service? Answers to these questions only further embittered her, like a sinister lover whispering in her ear. Now, wondering the outskirts of the galaxy, Kamala laments over everything. She feels the darkness within her slowly growing, infecting the very reaches of her core. She never meant to fall so far…

PERSONALITY

k15do1.png
Steadfast, loyal, and reverent, Kamala embodied many of the Jedi’s most desirable traits. Once a dedicated healer and warrior, the Rattataki is now a warped shadow of her former self. In battle, Kamala’s Rattataki heritage become abundantly apparent. Almost instinctually, she is tenacious and unyielding, braving the frontlines without a moment of hesitation. During her adolescence, this was tempered and managed by her master and Jedi morals. Since becoming an Exile, she feels liberated when fighting, using it as an outlet for her pent-up frustration and aggression; however, some semblance of restraint and reluctance remains - if confronted by an enemy, Kamala will at least give them the choice to reconsider (though this may purely be done out of self preservation rather than unwillingness to take their life.) Kamala does not actively wish to seek out the company of other Exiles, perhaps out of sheer arrogance, she does not acknowledge she is now classed the same as them. If the subject or topic is approached and she feels insulted then she is likely to lash out.

When inflicting pain on others -which she can do rather effectively- Kamala almost takes satisfaction out of it, seeing it as a perverse form of therapy. She hurts others in order to lessen the pain she feels. Isolation has utterly embittered and twisted her once noble demeanour; she appears cynical and dismissive to many, cold and aloof. To some, she can even appear mocking and belittling, given her past experiences and melancholic view of the galaxy around her. She holds the Jedi in great distaste, seeing their shortcomings and weaknesses as ultimately responsible for the failings and evil in the galaxy. Most of all, she holds the council in the highest contempt, blaming them personally for her expulsion and actions; Kamala feels the best years of her life were completely wasted by the Jedi Order and that all she had achieved was ultimately pointless. The deaths of the younglings still weigh heavily on her. Because of this, the Exile can not bear the sight of children due to the pained annoyance it causes her. Because of her previous experiences, Kamala has very little patience for those she considers ‘scum of the galaxy’: slavers, pirates, and smugglers. She is not above cutting them down at her leisure. She simply sees it as ridding the galaxy of further vermin.

APPEARANCE

5xr1x5.png
By Rattataki standards, Kamala is a natural beauty. Chalky white pale skin and a statuesque figure, Kamala is both alluring and frightening to behold; she often stands a head above the average humanoid. She has not follicle hair, much like the rest of her species, she had been bald all her life. The rest of her features are quite angular and sharp; prominent cheekbones, a strong chin and rather aristocratic cut nose. To some, Kamala may appear usual as oppose to beautiful. Her eyes still retain their thunderous grey hues, however they are known to shift in colour given her emotional state and eviroment. They are often accented by the dark colouration surrounding her eyes; this is a faint result of the dark side’s corruption slowly becoming evident, though this might not be immediately obvious to many. Kamala now paints markings on her face; these appear to be ritualistic, symbolising her gradual transformation and deviation away from the Jedi Order. They are not permanent as of yet.

Since her exile, Kamala has abandoned her Jedi robes. Instead, she dons herself in rather dark robes, using them to hide her identity and form. When she discards these, she reveals a dark, flowing gown which allows movement and mobility. It is quite form fitting, detailing Kamala’s rather robust physique and lean muscular form. The material itself is not thin; it actually seems to be a rather thick fabric, allowing Kamala to travel in cold and wet condition without possible risk of hypothermia. Despite her experiences in battle, the Rattataki has not visible scars on her body, this is testament to her healing ability. However, Kamala is not entirely comfortable showing much skin; she feels more at ease being concealed and clothed; more often than not she will turn her nose as scantily clad individuals (such as Twi'leks and Zeltrons)

FORCE ABILITY

30arj4l.png
Despite her race’s warlike heritage, Kamala’s greatest gift was healing. Using the Force, Kamala can accelerate the natural healing process rapidly, not only to benefit herself but also to benefit those around her. When first fostering this ability, Kamala required meditation to achieve faster regeneration of damaged cells. When in this meditative state, she can achieve greater levels of attainment, being able to mend more severe injuries. With Master Puk’Ro’s guidance, she became more practiced and confident, she was able to rely less and less on mediation. This ultimately led her to being used as a combative healer on the frontlines during conflict. Many noted how the young Rattataki could heal major damage to flesh and bone and even going as far as to mend internal damage, such as damage to the heart, lungs, and so forth. Perhaps her greatest feat was the ‘healing’ of Master Puk’Ro; under stressful conditions, with intense threat, Kamala was able to halt the excessive bleeding and even sustain the functions of Puk’Ro’s lost organs. Arguably, she would not have been able to sustain this for an extended period of time. Had the reinforcements and proper medical support not arrived, Master Puk’Ro would have eventually perished. Despite this, Kamala still felt her healing abilities could be further developed.

She spent considerable amount of time trying accomplishing this, even studying and researching numerous records; however, as her gradual descent towards the dark side deepens, her healing abilities are also becoming more dormant and inaccessible (something which both troubles and enrages her). The thought has dawned on her though that her intimate knowledge of healing could possibly be perverted and used to inflict greater damage on her enemies; but Kamala has yet to figure how this could be achieved. It is something she could like to explore in the future. Though her offensive force abilities are still weak, she has proven quite capable of using mind tricks on weak willed individuals; she began utilising this skill as means of survival, using it to obtain supplies and resources. Another skill that blossomed since her exile is the probing on minds; it allows the Rattataki to garner information. However, this is only a fledging ability; against another force user, she would struggle to achieve anything.

LIGHTSABER COMBAT

fun903.png
What she lacks in offensive force ability, Kamal more than makes up for in her combat prowess. Though somewhat unorthodox for a Jedi, Kamal favoured the Jar’Kai double saber style very early on during her adolescence. Using this style, Kamala can maintain a strong offensive, as the speed of attack allows her to overwhelm most opponents (many of whom are unfamiliar with the style). Often, she will continually attack with one blade while relying on the other for defensive coverage. However, when she soon grows tired of this, she will use both blades be for more offensive purposes, keeping up a continuous wave-front assault. The Rattataki will literally beat her opponent into submission. Another advantage of her Jar'Kai style is that it easier to hold off multiple opponents; in this situation, Kamala will attempt to dispatch the strongest threat first, then pick off the weaker individual. However, there are disadvantages to Kamala’s style; as both her hands hold individual lightsabers, two-handed blows are impossible, meaning she is unable to put all her weight behind blocks. An enemy with a single hilt could simply assault her defence with brute force, battering away until the dual-blade duellist’s guard gave way; even a physically strong Rattataki like Kamala is vulnerable to this weakness. Perhaps her greatest weakness is her reliance on her sabers and bladework; this leaves her force abilities in other areas undeveloped. Whilst Kamala is quite adept with the force, she does not use it offensively during battle (at least, not very effectively).

Hey there! This is a great start, Tthe only thing I have to be changed is the high reputation she had with the Jedi before being exiled. A level 1 character is essentially unknown to all those except those closest to them. This is so everyone starts on the same playing field. Removing the parts about her being a legendary and well-known Jedi let you build your own legend in the RP. Everything else looks good.
