A Miran-class frigate, 2 DP20 Corvettes, and several squadrons of fighters and fighter-bombers were scouting an area near a nebula in the Unknown Regions. Supposedly, somewhere around here, the wreck of an Executor-Class Star Dreadnaught was lying. Many had tried to salvage the ship, but all had failed, and it had been deemed irreparable by those who left it here. Well... no.

These ships were scouting the area for the hulk. It was almost guaranteed that either the Galactic Alliance, pirates, or some other party would be there to stop them from salvaging it, so the Decimator was located several hundred kilometers away, ready to jump in should it be needed.

Unknown Region patrols were the bane of an Admiral's existence. They were random, boring, and, well, boring. Nissan Vestibb, as a generally good, order-following Admiral of the Galactic Alliance, was ordered onto one of these patrols. He really did love his job, and most importantly, his ship, but he just couldn't stand these patrols.

His Venator-2 class star destroyer, Lady Luck's Husband, was in for repairs, so he had been assigned the Assault Frigate Mark II Revolver. One other Assault Frigate Mark II flanked the Revolver, aswell as several squadrons of X-Wings scouting throughout the search area.

It was quite boring, but atleast he was able to watch this movie in his quarters uninterrupt -

"Admiral Vestibb, your presence is required at the bridge immediately."

"What's up?"
"Several unidentified craft are circling around the old Star Destroyer wreckage. They're not one of our salvage teams, or a Sith patrol, that's for sure."
"Contact their frigate. Recall all squadrons into formation around us.

Attention unidentified Miran-class frigate. This is the Galactic Alliance Frigate Revolver. Unless you have acquired proper authorization to fly in this area, I require for you to recall all your ships immediately."

He stood, hands behind his back, patiently waiting for a response.

 

[Fusion]

This is the Subach-Innes Frigate Excalibur. We have come to secure the wreckage of this Super Star Destroyer for Subach-Innes. You would be well advised to hold your position, as personally, I don't want to shatter your ship with my main guns.

If 4 heavy beam cannons could shatter a Star Destroyer, then this frigate's 1 heavy and 2 light beam cannons should easily be able to take on the Assault Frigates. And then, of course, the Decimator was on standby, so it could be called in if the battle was too troublesome.

 

[Prancing Yawn]

Nissan grumbled, looking out the armorglass windshields of the Revolver. He had asked nicely, and whoever this bongo was, was surely looking for a hurting. He looked at his deck commander, and nodded.

"Captain, hail the destroyer Sunrunner in Sector G. Inform them that we may need backup, and should be prepared to jump into Sector B in a moment's notice."
"Yes, sir. You think we'll need a Venator, sir?"
"Just wanna give us some odds, Captain. This guy is obviously confident if he's threatening to take on two Assault Frigates... "

The Admiral waited for confirmation from his deck commander that the Sunrunner was ready before deploying orders.

"Alright, listen up! I want half of our quad gunners committed to covering the Revolver against their fighters. I want their corvettes out as quickly as possible, and I'm tasking the Starsaber with that. I want Blue and Red squadrons engaging their fighters, and I want Spear Squadron covering the Revolver and Starsaber."

"Yes, sir!

All gunners are ready, sir! Squadrons are in position!"


The Admiral decided to give the Subachs one last chance to back out, and had his communications officer contact their bridge once again.

"This is the Revolver. You have one last chance to pull out your ships, or we will take action."

Myra looked out at the Assault Frigate Mk IIs. A far outdated design... The heavy beam would probably break their shields with a single shot. She knew the Mk II had never been designed for defence. It was an offensive craft used by the Rebel Alliance, New Republic, and Galactic Alliance over the years simply for assault. Weak defence, strong offence was the principle of this craft, and here it was playing defence.

Revolver, I am not going to pull out from such a salvage opportunity. I will, however, be gracious enough to let you fire the first shot.

 

[Prancing Yawn]

"Generous gesture, Excalibur." The Admiral ended the transmission with a push of his wrist gauntlet, and walked further down the bridge to look out the viewport.

"All units in position? Sunrunner ready to deploy?"
"Yes, sir!" His deck commander replied, scrambling to do something at his console as he did so.

He paused for a few seconds, eyes locked on the enemy frigate.

"Engage."

Half of the quad cannon gunners of the Revolver opened up a barrage on the Subach-Innes fighters with dead-on accuracy, each shot carefully predicted to land where the fighters would be in a second. The emerald green laser blasts lit up the viewport on the bridge of the Revolver, and Nissan smiled as his best gunners unleashed a barrage of heated shots on the fighters. Blue and Red squadrons began to file over and under the green barrage into the fighters, staying in tight-knit formation. Spear Squadron circled the space inbetween the Revolver and the Starsaber in a looser formation, the whole group spreading out between the two frigates.

Meanwhile, Starsaber slowly moved into range of the corvettes, making sure not to get out of sight of its escort fighters or the Revolver. All of its cannons ripped on the first corvette that came into sight, with similar deadeye accuracy.

The mixed group of fighters, specifically Loki-class stealth fighters, Athena-class heavy fighters, and Zeus-class fighter-bombers, tried to dodge the quad laser bolts. The Lokis were untouched, but some of the Athenas got good hits on the fuselage and several Zeuses were either damaged or destroyed. The Lokis and Athenas quickly started engaging the GA fighters as the Zeuses launched proton torpedoes at the Revolver.

The first DP20 hit by the Starsaber's barrage began to crumble. The shields dropped from 100% to 20% to 0% as the hull integrity decreased to 90%. It fired back with its anti-fighter beams, turbolasers, and nuclear cluster EMP bomb launchers as the second corvette moved in closer to the Excalibur.

Speaking of which, the Excalibur turned towards the Starsaber, which was in near-point blank range, and opened fire with its forward heavy and left light beam cannon. Considering the damage done to the Uvetes by 2 small beams, a heavy and a light beam should do a lot more damage to a more weakly shielded/hulled assault frigate. The beams were aimed at the center of the ship, and Myra planned to watch as the ship had a hole drilled right through it and de-pressurized. Unless the Captain of the Starsaber was smart enough to outmaneuver the beam, which was unlikely to do at such close range, the beam would still at least partially hit the Starsaber.

The Starsaber's thrusters blasted into overdrive as its captain hastily tried to vertically move the frigate out of the beam's trajectory. Both beams skimmed over the Starsaber's starboard hulls, diminishing the shields to almost 10% and blowing off a small chunk of the hull. The weapons from the corvette slowly started to pick away at the remaining shield power.

"Starsaber, this is the Revolver - haul your butt OUT of there NOW! And try your best to immobilize that frigate as you do! Let half of Spear Squadron cover your escape and.. Spear Squadron, finish off that corvette while you're rearing the Starsaber.

I want a quarter of our available gunners focused on the beam projectors of their frigate. Do not go anywhere past minimum firing range. We need that thing disabled if we don't want to be completely fried.."

The Starsaber turned and sped away from the Excalibur, all of its guns poised on the enemy frigate's thrusters as it did so. The half of Spear Squadron that was protecting the Starsaber stayed as close as possible to the frigate while still bombarding the injured corvette with spitfire precision and speed. The Revolver closed into firing range of the Excalibur's frontmost beam projector, making sure to stay as far away from it as possible, and its guns released heck.

Pull out, Venture. We're calling in the Decimator to make good this ship's capture.

This is the Decimator, we are warping in now. Estimated time of arrival, 4 minutes.

The corvette being bombarded by Spear Squadron warped out with several small holes in its hull and a few damaged weapon systems, but it was repairable. The loss of this would greatly affect the Subach-Innes ships' chances of victory, but the odds would again be in their favor when the Decimator warped in. The Excalibur charged up and fired its remaining unused light beam cannon at the Revolver. It would drain their shields, but it probably would not cause any hull damage. The Miran-class frigate also fired its nuclear cluster EMP torpedoes at the Starsaber as it pulled out, hoping to possibly disable it, and maybe take out some of the angry fighters as well.

The remaining Corvette plunged itself into the thick of GA and Subach-Innes fighters alike. The Lokis and Athenas dueled the GA fighters with help from the DP20's anti-fighter beams and turbolasers while the Zeuses came in for a run on the Starsaber from the aft weak spot.

Cheers filled the bridge of the Revolver as the enemy corvette disappeared into a white blip of hyperspace entry. The Admiral grinned - one less starfighter killer for him to worry about.

A small hole was burned through Blue Squadron as the remaining corvette joined the dogfight. Red Squadron swooped through the jungle of laser bolts and took up the rear of the Corvette, showering its thrusters with neon green bolts and heat-seeking torpedoes. It was just the Admiral's style - disable your enemy then bloooow them out of the sky!

The Starsaber continued to stray away from the fight, making sure to keep its damaged side away from the enemy's cannons. It fired heat-seeking flares to intercept most of the torpedoes, but some of Spear Squadron was hit. The remaining fighters of Spear Squadron engaged the Zeuses, and the cannons sprayed the fighters aswell, which were at close range, and many of them would surely hit their mark.

The beam fired at the Revolver hit its mark, ramming into the side of the frigate, shaking the ship, putting a large dent in its shields,

"Put half of our reserve power into shield regeneration. All gunners, fire at will on the frigate. Starsaber, maintain your distance, and continue your barrage on the frigate aswell."

With the combined firepower of two Assault Frigates would definitely put a dent in the enemy ship. The Admiral wanted to end this fight quick.

 

[Fusion]

The DP20 was taking hits, but its shield strength was still at a modest 30% as it sprayed fire at the incoming fighters.

The Excalibur turned towards the Revolver, batting some of the friendly and enemy fighters away as it opened fire at point-blank range at the enemy ship's shield generator.

The Zeuses were taking damage from Spear Squadron, as a flaming Zeus trailed smoke and went on a suicide dive into the Starsaber's shield generator, the remaining warheads hopefully taking its target out with it as the other Zeuses ganged up on the Revolver.

The Lokis turned to the back of the corvette and fired their 4 xasers at the GA fighters as well as several seeker concussion missiles. They were undetectable except for the purplish bolts coming from their direction. The stealth design was working quite well.

The Athenas moved in and began to duel with the remnants of Blue Squadron, their extremely accurate guns making it easy for their pilots to aim and hopefully hit their targets.
