The next 20 minutes immediately after Donkur left the house were hectic. When David finished with the costumers, leaving the courtyard empty and pockets a little bit fuller, he came back in the house to find a very excitable Alisha. David smiled slightly as Alisha explained the situation. It made him proud to know that his little girl was about to go out there and try and make a difference. He knew that really, there was no saying no. Alisha wanted this kind of opportunity for a long time. David could understand that, Tatooine held no future for her, and he knew that. But at the same time, it was like a massive bombshell was dropped on his chest. Was she going to be ok? Was she going to be in danger? Would they be able to communicate? Alisha told him that she didn't know. David suspected that danger would be part of it and that communication would be minimal if at all, but he knew Alisha could get by...Still... He was nervous as he paced up and down the workshop waiting for Alisha to get down with her stuff. He was going to take her to the cantina with the speeder.

Alisha went upstairs to pack her staff. That included her Teeko pet, Blanky. No way was she going anywhere without him. She would explain to Donkur that feeding was minimal (well, as long as resources goes...), as she generally fed him part of her ratios, and that he would be content just sitting next to her in her room or workshop or wherever, he wasn't active much anymore so he wouldn't bother anyone. She packed the few clothes that she had, and of course the toolbox from downstairs. Blanky she carried in her pouch, and he seemed quite content staying there, squealing slightly to show his approval. She really didn't have many possessions really, as she and her father always went on a bare minimum basis, so it wasn't long before Alisha came back downstairs.

She found her father leaning against his workbench, a little emotional, holding something small and silvery. He approached Alisha and told her that was the locket that his wife always wore and he kept it safe until then. He thought, it was time to let his daughter have it. Inside the locket was a picture of him with his wife, holding baby Alisha. Alisha felt a warm and fuzzy feeling, if a bit bittersweet, spread through her body; she looks up at her father with teary eyes and throws herself in his arms, holding tightly, as a single tear runs down her cheek. After an emotional 20 minutes, David then went onto the usual be-careful speech, at which Alisha predictably rolled her eyes at with a grin, and then they were off. David dropped her off at the cantina, and after a few more hugs and warnings from her father, and "yes yes I will be careful" replies from Alisha, off she was.

David watched Alisha disappear inside the cantina, and with a heavy sigh, returns home. He parks his vehicle outside and locks in, steps into the workshop, which now feels so empty and souless to him, and sets up the traps again for the courtyard, almost forgetting it is now empty. He slumps on the workshop chair and looks at the room. He will miss her laugh, her voice, her complaints. Though, he thinks, he won't miss that thing she has. He glad he brought it with her.

"He is not a thing!" He imagined she would say. He smiled lightly, but her absence was already heavy on him, and he covered his face, unable to control his emotions. Whatever the future held, he hoped that Alisha would find what she wanted and that she would be happy wherever she was going to.

Alisha enters the cantina with an excited look. A whole new adventure was waiting for her. Her heart was pumping, this was it. This is where it all begins...Finally, she had the chance to make a difference, to work for what's good, to keep the hope alive...She takes a deep breath and approaches Donkur and his mean, ready for whatever the future brought.
