One of the best Sci-Fi Horror movies of the 80's, and one of Carpenter's best films he has made. Nothing beats a movie about 12 men stranded in Antartica with a shape shifting alien among them.

But does it really, REALLY need another remake?

Anyone else see this film?

how the HELL did no one reply to this. Yes I have seen John Carpenters The Thing, one of the few movies that actually scares me.
See if they make the film it will be more flexible because of CGI but the animatronics were what made the film really scary for me. I'd just like to see a sequel to the film, you know put the Thing in a 'fish out of water' situation, by that I mean put it in the desert and see what happens.

I agree with you about the animatronics. I don't know if there was any CGI in it, but I know those Things were all animatronics and were done brilliantly, and were both creepy(The Norris Thing) and down right disgusting looking(Dog Thing).

Intresting idea though on a desert idea, considering it was last seen in Antartica unless it gets descovered and moved there. But yes, a sequel would be good if done right.
