Hoth
Early Morning
Dear Sith, this is an open Jedi mission so you are allowed to join and stop us from completing our task. That being said I'd find it as a kindness if you told us you were dropping in, instead of just dropping in. You could do that in the OOC thread of the same title. Thanks in advance, BossMan.

Calvyn Eltros held his hand up in the air, a clear order to remain still and quiet to his partner Sayla. Kneeling down on the snowy ground Cal took two fingers and brushed them across the wound of the slain Tauntaun. It was obvious the two Jedi were close to their target and by the size of these claw marks this Wampa was no ordinary Wampa. Leaning in Cal took a closer look at the wounds and he examined the body thoroughly as best he could. When he was done he shook his head and gave one final blessing to the slain creature. Rising to his feet the Jedi Knight spoke to his companion who had been waiting this whole time.

"It appears this Tauntaun survived his encounter with the Wampa then laid down here to die. It came from inside the cave, given by the tracks leading from the entrance to here, which is also most likely where this Wampa dwells. Given the unusual size of the wounds I'm certain this is the Wampa were tracking. If we move quick enough we might be able to sneak up on the creature. When we're in here though, tread carefully, I fear this Wampa may be even more dangerous then we initially planned."

Calvyn then gave the other Knight a slight nod and began walking to the cave entrance. He couldn't help but shake the eerie feeling of the Dark side. This whole cave seemed to be tainted in it, he didn't know if his partner felt it too, but Calvyn was sure it was. Whatever the Sith have done, and Cal was sure of their involvement, he hoped this Wampa would be the end of it.

Frozen Wastes - 8th row from the bottom
The snow wasn’t thick enough underfoot that she had to trudge through it, but it gave a crystalline crunch beneath her boots that told her it was one snowfall away from being denser. The entire planet of Hoth reminded her of Orto Plutonia, and the notion wasn’t a stretch. The same feeling of awe found her here as it had there, only, on this world, it was a feeling of awe paired with prudence. Something is amiss here. Something deep. Something dark. Something disturbing. Receiving the signal to halt her trek, her partner’s survey of the dead Tauntaun only vouched for Sayla’s concerns. Her gaze followed his words to the cave. Wampas. She had heard about those fierce predators, had seen images and videos of them, but today would probably be the day where she would be forced to meet one up close.

“Indeed.”

With that, Sayla followed beside Calvyn as the duo began to make their way toward the cave. The glacial walls that flanked them appeared to close in, catching her eyes as they warily waved from side to side. It was no physical feat, of course—the ice stayed where it was—but if this was a message of caution from the Force then Sayla hastened to heed it.

“We’re not alone here, Knight Calvyn. I sense something…off.” More than off. More than more. I sense a gaping hole where a cave should be. “Do you?”

She checked her thoughts, checked her emotions and checked her gear—in her head rather than with her hands. Hoth was cold, pleasantly so, but Sayla hadn’t intended to suffer from it. The nature of the mission had warranted leaving her Jedi robes back at the ship and donning her MMC armor. The entire set was painted white with streaks of blue running front and back. The helmet currently hung down her back beside her pack from where it was clipped to collar. There seemed to be no immediate threat in the area, and the soothing feeling of the cold was welcomed upon her cheeks as a breeze gnawed her skull within the blue locks of her hair.

“This would usually be the part where I wear a smile for the exploration we’re about to dive into.” Sayla spoke when they reached the cave’s entrance, tone bereft of excitement. A small sigh followed her speech. There is no joy in exploring the darkness. Not when that darkness delves deeper than black, and has no bottom even beyond this cave. “The sensation is stronger here, and I am sure it will only dilate the further we trek.” She would pause for a brief moment, gauging the entrance that felt more like an event horizon. “Well,” she gestured a hand forward and offered a smile from the corner of her lips. “After you, fellow Jedi.” Even now, at least, she could afford a stroke of amusement. Once we pass this point, I’ll have none to convey.

Calvyn Eltros walked on through the ice cave just in front of the Pantoran. He knew little about his companion and intentionally kept her a safe distance away. Disguised behind the calm and clear focus on the task at hand. Every now and then Calvyn would catch a glimpse of the Pantoran through the reflection of the ice. However his main focus was on that of the Tauntaun tracks and his attempt to find the Wampa. After a short trek inside the cave he finally heard Sayla's voice break the silence.

“We’re not alone here, Knight Calvyn. I sense something…off.” She asked him as they continued walking deeper into the cavern “Do you?”

Looking back Calvyn gave a slight nod. "I sense it too Sayla, but it's nothing we can't handle." Soon after the two Jedi found a large entrance, easily fifteen feet tall, and it was clear to Cal danger lurked beyond. Stopping for a second Cal thought of his choices. They could continue on, deeper into the trenches and caverns, or they could go inside the dark cave. Cal knew what he had to do and he gritted his teeth in reluctance.

“This would usually be the part where I wear a smile for the exploration we’re about to dive into." Sayla said as she tried in vain to release some of the tension building between them and the mission. Then she continued on in a more serious manner. "The sensation is stronger here, and I am sure it will only dilate the further we trek.”

"I think your right, I can sense the Wampa's pretense inside, however I sense other danger as well." He said in reply, not to sure what it was he felt, only knowing he did indeed feel it.

“Well,” she gestured a hand forward and offered a smile from the corner of her lips. “After you, fellow Jedi.” Calvyn gave a quick nod then called his lightsaber into his right hand. In an instant he ignited the grey light and walked inside the cavern. He used the light off of his grey saber to help guide him, it was rather easy because the light was very close to white. However it did contrast the Jedi's clothes, black Jedi robes that blended in perfectly with the darkness. It seemed almost as if the very dark was holding Cal's saber, gently floating along in the cavern.

That is until Calvyn heard the screeching moan of a giant Wampa echo throughout the cave.

Sayla made no move to delay. Rather, she made move to move. As Calvyn proceeded into the cave, she followed after, her primary lightsaber hilt clipped to her left hip. Her shoto hilt remained attached to the bottom of her left vambrace. Once she stepped into the darkness that had since been lifted in part by her partner, the hilt from her hip came up and she ignited a blue beam. With double the light, the way forward was even more certain, though what waited for them in the bounding black was left to speculation.

The icy walls were no less close inside the cave. They felt more and more pressing, as though the two Jedi might find themselves pressed and crushed any moment. Unless they melt first. This place is cold and dark, but there is a fury here as hot as fire. She couldn’t be sure of what she was feeling but she was sure to stave it off and keep it from affecting her composure. It wasn’t unusual; the dark side was a powerful, passionate foe disguised as a friend, and whatever beast, or beasts, lurked in this lair, they were further bound to be more ferocious if that taint and tar were upon them. Hopefully, not “them” and just “it”.

As if on cue, a monstrous shriek bounced across the walls, traveling all the way from the source to the keen ears of the Jedi themselves. Sayla froze immediately, if only to silence her movements and her cold breath for the briefest spell it would take to pinpoint the screech. The cave had become a junction, allowing the pair of man and woman to journey down the left tunnel or the right. Sayla pointed her finger down the left.

“This way, if my hearing is accurate and the Force is with me.” If.

Unless contested, she would have thought nothing less and wasted no more time as determination propelled her legs and her trek continued. The blue light emanating from her lightsaber gave way to more and more icicles hanging from the ceiling, several upon several that seemed to be waiting just for her and the Jedi beside her before they might fall and skewer fresh victims. The thought, though entertaining, rather began to stir a longing for more a peaceful adventure. Even as Sayla walked, she worked to resist the temptation to suddenly forfeit her mission; not out of fear, but simply out of desire to study. Hoth, for all its ice and snow, was that much more fascinating to explore.

Another shriek. It sounded closer. It sounded meaner. It sounded hungrier.

“Okay, we’re definitely on the right track.” She spoke low then paused and pointed for a second time. “There.” Repeating the scene of a previous carcass was a butchered Tauntaun sprawled in the middle of the corridor further out, lightsaber light finally reaching it. Sayla carefully paced over to the lifeless creature, kneeling down to inspect this one herself. The steady hum of her blade spoke into her right ear and came out her left with words of vigilance. Forefinger rubbed thumb as her gaze met her fingers.

“A fresh corpse, if you’ll pardon. Not far now.”

Sayla rose to resume her course, walking beside her companion—deeper into the darkness.

As Sayla rose from the other dead Tauntaun Calvyn stepped closer to the beast. His head was held high and he was alert. Watching over the long passageways while she examined the dead Tauntaun. Even still Calvyn couldn't shake the feeling that this Wampa was the least of their worries. However he couldn't prove, gut feelings did little to imitate hard facts. When Knight Inara rose to her feet Calvyn followed after her. His lightsaber hung low and he stepped over the dead Tauntaun's legs. It was for that reason Calvyn saw it, his eyes drifted downwards and Calvyn could swear he saw a tattoo on the creatures right leg. Examining closer Calvyn saw the words more clearly.

GROUP 2
PREDATOR PHASE
Calvyn barely had time to register his thought and share it with the other Knight. Down the passageway they were in Calvyn saw a blinding white light. A flashlight! Instantly Calvyn deactivated his saber and threw his body at Sayla, thus deactivating her saber too. He then grabbed her and whipped her and him along a different passageway in the darkness. Pinning her against the wall Calvyn held up a finger over his lips, a wordless signal to be quiet. Moments later Calvyn could hear several voices speaking around the dead Tauntaun, just where Sayla and Cal stood seconds earlier.

"Here he is!" Said a loud deep voice "I told you these trackers would be accurate down in these caverns."

"Quiet you fool, the Wampa still lurks in these caves." Said another voice, this time it was a woman, however Calvyn couldn't say for sure if she was human or not.

"It doesn't matter, just grab the Tauntaun and bring it back to base. There may be a random inspection from the Sith and they need this base to be functional and actually produce results." Said another man, Calvyn could tell just by the sound of his voice that this one was in charge.

"Then it should be them down here, with all their regulations, it's already hard enough to control a Wampa much less make them into predators who take orders." Said the female voice once again.

"Just load the damned animal so we can go." Said the (presumed) leader.

Then after a few more minutes of standing quiet and locked against Sayla the patrol left. Calvyn stepped back away from his partner and didn't offer her an apology. He reacted fast and didn't have time for comfort to take priority.

"Do you understand now?" He asked his fellow Knight, when he was sure they were alone. "The Sith forward operating base is not a base at all. Instead it's a damned research facility the Sith are using to control Wampa's." He then let a long pause linger while he collected his thoughts. "Look this was originally supposed to be a scouting mission but the missions changed. We need to blow this place sky high then get out of here before this becomes something more than just research."

Darth Cain was not exactly a sentimental man. He enjoyed the present, regarded the past and considered the future. It was a simple enough creed that had more than accounted for his actions throughout his life. He was one of the youngest Darth's ever to rise to the title. He was also one of the most powerful. He had consumed, killed, manipulated, placated, preached and conquered his way to power. There were many Sith who considered his ways to be heretical, but at his core he was no different from the rest of them.

Yet for some reason, the force seemed to be guiding him back to the place where his journey started. The first mission set to him by the academy masters on Korriban. It felt like it had been so long ago that he had stepped onto that icy world. With only the few resources he had managed to collect in his hopping journey there. He htad met a young jedi whom he had manipulated so carefully with words of truth and honesty. He remembered the Wampa, corrupted by an artifact of the dark side.

Or at least he thought he did.

The memories of the many minds he had consumed were merging. Periodically he had been able to disseminate them and clear them from his conscious mind. Yet as his power grew he had begun to feel them again. Then came the ritual to restore the force to Vanus. At the end of the ritual, for a millionth of a second, he had been completely one with the Dark Side. He had felt it's immutable power and known it's vastness. He had seen his many destinies and had caught a vision of where he was to go next.

"Hoth." Cain mused, staring at the white world from the pilot seat of his private shuttle. The modified naboo star-yacht had been painted with a reflective black coating in order to blend it in with the stars. Yet it would serve to disguise little on the icy world. Cain tilted his head, wondering why the force had chosen this inhospitable rock. Was it because of his memories? He could not say for certain and that bothered him more than any plot by another Sith.

Cain checked the navicomputer, making final adjustments to the landing trajectory based on the scans of the world below. Now that he was in the know about such things he was aware of the testing site that had been constructed on the world. Cain wondered for a moment if the creature that he had encountered so long ago had been one such test subject and that he had been fooled into thinking it was because of a Sith Artifact. Perhaps that too was a warping of his memories. Cain shook his head and tapped the last key on the console. The ship began to descend.

As it went through the motions of landing on the world. Cain made his way into the rear of the craft, checking his combat armor one last time and donning his helmet. Two hook handled lightsabers hung on his hips. He checked the spring mechanism on his wrist as well as the other weapons he had decided to take with him. Throwing the all-weather cloak over his shoulders and centering himself in the force, he moved to greet the only other passenger on the vessel.

Gareth Vimad was a zabrak Bounty Hunter and a Sport Hunter that had answered Cain's call for underworld allies weeks before. He had more than proved himself on his first few test assignments and Cain had decided it would be best to have someone skilled in tracking and navigation of harsh environments with him. He had already made the call to not bring any of his priests. He did not want them to know that his mind was addled by the overuse of his power. He needed answers, and perhaps this world would provide them.

"Gareth!" Cain chimed cheerily, grabbing hold of an overhanging handle as he entered the rear compartment. The ship had entered the atmosphere and turbulence was causing it to shudder. "Ready for a hunt?" They were moments away from landing on the roof of the research facility. The Dark Council transponder codes had been sent, warning those present to be prepared for the arrival of a VIP. Cain closed his eyes and reached out through the force, feeling the world like he hadn't been able to do the first time he arrived.

Two spots of white light against a backdrop of lifeless blackness. The world had very few living things upon it, fewer strong in the force. Yet he felt two such presences there. Curious. The ship touched down and the boarding ramp opened. Cain nodded to his compatriot and descended the steps onto the frozen world...

Gareth was a hunter of both sentient and non sentient preys, not only for the credits, but for the hunt himself, for sport, and now he was in Hoth once more. The frozen planet, home of the Wampa, one of the mightiest creatures he had ever hunted, and one of Gareth´s favorite preys, however, it was not the usual hunt in Hoth for trophies or fun, it was an actual mission with the man known as Darth Cain, little did he knew about the sith, but he knew enough, he was a charming man, and a manipulative one, while Gareth didn´t understand much about the Sith hierarchy, he knew that the man that hired him was a member of higher ranks, and he suspected that he had even grimmer secrets than the average sith.

But Gareth didn´t care about it at all, he just cared that Cain paid him for doing what he loved, the sith priest even showed interest in the hunt as well, after being hired by so many people, he learned that people that needed a hunter like himself had too much credits and too much free time, but little interest in anything else than the credits, and being too weak to solve a problem themselves, they would just send him to kill someone just because it was the best for their business, like the lazy Hutts. But Cain, he was a hunter like Gareth himself, he was powerful and could kill anyone with ease, and most important, he actually was able to solve his problems himself.

The bounty hunter was in his seat preparing himself, he was already wearing his silver and red heavy armor but it had a small addition, instead of his red cape, he was wearing a Fur cloak made with the skin of a Wampa, all white but the red mark of a hand, the coat was made by Gareth himself with the skin of the first Wampa he hunted, being the mark from the blood and hand of one of the victims of the white beast that tried to escape from him. He also had his weapons ready, his two heavy blasters holstered one in each legs, his electrostaff, his good friend, attached to his back, he didn´t bring his thermal detonators to this hunt, he chose instead some new toys he got from the black market, the firespray device, lighter than the flamethrowers and able to do the same job,he attached them to his belt, they could be very useful in a planet where everyone was adapted to low temperatures.

"Is always a good day to hunt in the frozen game preserve" He said to the sith before putting on his helmet "But I guess you didn´t bring me here just to hunt some wampas for sport, what is our mission?" He said while stepping out of the ship with Cain.

The creaking of the cavern sounded like sticks clacking, or bones, Sayla thought as her gaze drifted back up to the sparkling ceiling. Then, just like that, her gaze was broken. A force beyond her own had slammed into her as the walls had finally decided to close in. Immediately after, Sayla felt the form of Calvyn before her eyes even found him. As the light in her hilt went out and she was taken to another corridor, she said nothing and made no move, quickly concluding that these were her companion’s intentions. The two stood surrounded in a shroud, though Sayla’s gaze had gone from the dark and a lone finger to the swaying torchlight that lit the way of footsteps. Not Wampas.

Her mind worked to make out the voices, to assess the living presences and to deduce who they were and who they were not. In the end, they could have been of any one species or the other, and words spoken by different sexes didn’t necessary narrow down the search. Whoever they were, they were clearly here to make money. Their method of obtaining it did not appear to account for the consequences of aiding the cause of a yawning evil.

She pondered on their folly as seconds turned into minutes, if only to further wonder after what kind of individuals might have hired their services. “Produce results”. “Control a Wampa”. That sounded like the work of an Imperial scientist or a Sith priest. When darkness comes, darkness brings. Darkness had come to this cave and it had brought the Sith with it. Her fellow knight was no doubt thinking the same thing. He was as still as a statue, as akin to her in that regard, and his spirit, so close and so still, spoke to hers of strength. He had it, held it and harnessed it, and suddenly Sayla felt glad that she wasn’t exploring this cave on her own after all. His body heat may not have been enough to melt the walls, but it reminded her of her own and reminded her that they were still living souls.

As the minutes passed, Sayla gave Calvyn a small nod in agreement. She understood what was at play here, and it was foul. When darkness sleeps, it dreams of foul things. She found her eyes drifting down the man’s robes to linger on the frozen ground beneath both their boots. A spell of eternity ensued, white snow scattered upon black ice, and a mental lapse had ended with bare a memory of having even entered it. Sayla blinked as Calvyn parted and spoke truth. She was further glad that she had equipped herself in her armor for this mission and the items that complemented it, though they didn’t exactly count toward the new goal.

“Well, I have grenades, but none of them are explosive.” That hadn’t deterred her in the slightest, her mind racing through avenues of knowledge since acquired. “I’m sure we’ll find a suitable method of releasing an appropriate amount of energy in enough volume to demolish this cavern.” She raised a brow, feeling for herself how out of place it was amidst a stoic countenance. “Or blow this place sky high, as you say.” If nothing else, they had a ship.

Calvyn couldn't help but smile at Sayla's response, it was nice having someone take the edge off of his cold exterior. He nodded at her to follow him and the two continued through the caverns. They quickly made it back to where they were minutes earlier. Except this time the Tauntaun was gone, leaving only bloodied snow where it once was. Calvyn didn't speak he just continued walking in the direction the Sith had come from. It was easy to track them as the snow still had their boot prints to follow.

The Jedi was aware of his movements and made a conscious effort to remain silent as he stalked the Sith. He was aware of how little light there was down in the caves but there was just enough to identify the tracks. He figured they'd lead him to the base or at least a camp, something rather than nothing. Calvyn had to admit he was glad to not be alone in this place, finding a very unusual comfort in his companion directly behind him. Still however, he did not speak to her. Luckily it made sense because he wanted the element of surprise on his enemy. All the same though, Cal was glad he wasn't alone this time.

Eventually the two Knights made it to the end of a tunnel where the tracks seemed to stop. Then Calvyn noticed they were no longer on snow, instead they were on a metallic floorboard. And he could sense that the space they were in was not a tunnel, instead it was a massive room. Almost as soon as he had the thought lights flicked on. Instantly the Knight dove behind the first crate he saw, he'd have to hope his partner did the same, because Calvyn couldn't get to her this time. He kept his head low and tried to understand what was going on.

Looking around his surroundings Calvyn noticed first two massive steel doors. There were a bunch of crates around, probably supplies or what not. He also noticed a control room with various people inside, it was probably what the Sith used to open the massive doors on the other side of the room. He thought he saw it all until he saw crates full of Tauntaun's, 2 or 3 in each holding container. Then his head snapped over at the doors, which were now being beaten against savagely by something on the other side. Cal could hear as the beast screamed through the doors, and he knew then that the legendary Wampa was behind them....

Cain strode with confidence down the boarding ramp. He checked the datapad mounted on his wrist one last time before flicking his eyes up to meet the gaze of the Imperial Officer that stood just feet from them. The man wore a stiff uniform but had an unkempt air about him-like he was dressing only for the occasion. Cain lowered his hands and gave a smile, extending his hand palm down to the Officer. The officer was obvously not as devout as Cain would have liked, for it took him a moment to realize what was being offered. He dropped to a knee after blinking several times, placing his lips against the ring on Cain's right hand before rising again.

"The Dark Side arm you, Lieutenant." Cain said casually, his eyes sweeping over the place. "Take us inside, there is quite a chill." The Lieutenant stared skeptically at Gareth before nodding.

"Yes, My Lord." The Lieutenant said. It was so forced that Cain wondered if the man would have been able to move stones with his resentment toward whatever inconvenience Cain represented. Cain pretended to ignore it though, instead focusing on the two beating hearts of light that were drawing closer. They were making a beeline to the laboratory from the feel of them. The Sith Lord turned and looked at Gareth.

"Ahhh... Gareth. It seems we have uninvited guests." He tilted his head toward the Lieutenant. "Lieutenant. I take it that there are supply tunnels beneath the facility?" The lieutenant whirled, flabberghasted. His mouth opened and closed but no sound came. Cain gave him an impatient look. "Don't waste my time with your disbelief, Lieutenant. There are two presences that are antithetical to my power here. I can only assume they are Jedi. Your security is lax."

The Lieutenant tried to protest but Cain held up a hand. "Do not bother asking, I will lend you some modicum of aid." He drew out a pouch from his pocket and handed it to Gareth. "Poison. Use it on the Jedi. They are below. That is the primary reason for your employment, is it not? I will aid you from above-for now." Cain turned to the lieutenant again and clapped his hands together, eager to play his part. "Now! So much for the tour. Show me to your main security room." The Lieutenant swallowed his pride and nodded, leading Cain down the path and into the recesses of the facility.

"We have two sith warriors in garrison sir. Otherwise our defenses are primarily built in. We have very little in the ways of garrison. This location is supposed to be top secret." Cain clicked his tongue as they walked the corridor.

"Obviously not." Cain reprimanded and held out a hand. "Stay the order to sound the alarm, Lieutenant. Jedi require more subtlety than that. We will lead them into our clutches. I would rather not kill them-yet-I am very curious about why they have deigned to come to such an inhospitable world."

The security room was simple enough, inelegant save for the circular security display in the center of the room. Most of the security personnel looked up in surprise as Cain walked in. He did not like how easily distracted they were. Perhaps this place needed to be liquidated after all. He scratched his chin as he circled the monitor until spotting one that was out.

"This one?" Cain asked, the Lieutenant shrugged.

"Damage caused by the Wampa inside, no doubt. Their hammering on the walls can do nasty things to internal wiring." Cain tried the resist the temptation to ask why the kriffing beast wasn't sedated. Instead he tapped one of the security operators on the shoulder.

"Close all sublevel external blast doors...and free the Wampa in that room." Cain said with a grin. One of the officers gasped. Cain squeezed the back of the chair and grinned. "Let us say hello."

A lieutenant was there to greet them, an incompetent one, two jedi sneaked in the base easily, a base that was meant to be secret, and now Gareth had to clean the mess, which didn´t really annoy him, but instead made clear why Cain needed his aid, the imperial forces were very incompetent,he also noticed how the imperial official looked at him, he was probably not trusting in his skills, but he didn´t show any kind of competence himself, it would not be a surprise if Cain decided to kill that man at the end of the day. The bounty hunter grabbed the pouch that he received from the dark priest,he took his vibroknife out and used the poison over his blade, the bounty hunter realized what kind of poison it was, the witches of Darthomir used similar poisons, it would be interesting to see the effects of it over the jedi.

"Jedi, good preys indeed, I will take care of this mess, let the hunting games begin"
Gareth would leave the room, heading to the sublevel, moving like a shadow, like a good hunter that is tracking his prey, from cover to cover, he wanted to take the jedi by surprise, even knowing that it would be very difficult to do that since the force users had the ability to sense the force around everyone, but he wouldn´t lose anything trying to do it. In the end, he found the room where the two jedi were, Gareth would not enter the room yet, the door that was in the opposite side was opening, and whatever was behind it,it would be a nice distraction

Sayla had followed Calvyn’s lead the whole way. He moved slowly, so she moved slowly. He held his tongue, so she held hers. Even on her own, she would have performed much the same feat. Neither of them wanted to be caught down here, and as had just been proven, there were worse things creeping around in the dark beside Wampas. As soon as her boot had emitted a quiet tap, Sayla paused her trek and looked down, discovering the metal floor and the room that it was a part of. Brightness, sudden and explosive in the darkness, took her eyes in a flash.

Theme
Just as fast, she moved opposite Calvyn, darting rightward and halting only when her body was safely planted behind a stack of two metal crates. They were tall enough to where she hadn’t needed to crouch, instead pressing her back up against them. She glanced at Calvyn long enough to make sure he was okay, then moved to the side of the crates farthest from her companion, peering round the corner just enough to see with one eye. Doors. Crates. Crates. Control room. Security, surely. Crates. Crates. Tauntauns. Tauntauns. Her gaze paused at Tauntauns.

They looked uneasy. Tauntauns… Crates… Doors… Control room… That was it. The control room. It was located above the floor, though not high enough to where those within it would be able to see over the crates that hid two Jedi. Judging by there being no ladder or staircase that Sayla could see, a third, smaller door beneath the control room was likely what led up to it. Security… No. Not security. She looked from the control room to the Tauntauns to the great doors and the pounding and screeching coming from behind them, the same noise that instantly caused those Tauntauns to rattle their cages and shriek in terror. Not just security. Spectators. This was no mere cargo bay. It was a testing ground. And two Jedi Knights were caught in the middle of it.

Fortunately, for now, not entirely so. Having just entered the room, Calvyn and Sayla were still closest to their entrance, hanging on the fringes of the perimeter. The massive doors were at their right, the control room opposite the entrance, and at their left, closest to Calvyn, were the crates of Tauntauns. Just then, at the Jedi’s backs, a sudden, metallic shift signaled what had come before Sayla even looked behind her. There, right where they had entered, the way was shut—a large door had slid downward, sealing off the cavernous corridor. Forgetting about it for the moment, she maintained her focus on the doors making more threatening sounds. The force coming from behind them was undoubtedly strong, but not strong enough to damage the doors that were keeping whatever was behind them behind them.

Sayla’s eyes drifted back up to the control room. The glass wasn’t fully transparent from outside, but shadowed shapes could be made out, some standing, others manipulating limbs this way and that way. Pressing buttons and pulling levers, I’m sure. A piercing scream rang out just after keen ears picked up the clicking slide of a crate being opened, one designed to contain such things as Tauntauns. All too aware of their now unguarded selves, the creatures began crying with wild panic. Everything was happening quickly. Next, the great doors gave way themselves, only to reveal what had been waiting behind them this whole time.

Its bestial call had denied nothing; there, emerging with a stomping scream, was a Wampa. Not just any Wampa. This one is…bigger. Bigger than in the database. Grotesque. Monstrous. It couldn’t have been less than twelve feet tall. That made the height of the doors themselves more sensible, as well as the room’s ceiling that stretched far overhead. The monster’s horns seemed twice as long and curved upward, its once white fur speckled with red from head to toe; whether those were spots of blood was not for Sayla to tell. Its forearms, for whatever reason or simply out of consequence, were jet black. At their ends, what were once already lethal claws were lengthened by at least a foot.

All those factors, Sayla had made out in mere moments, for in only moments later, the mutated Wampa, fast despite its size, charged forward and reached a Tauntaun as the poor creature attempted to flee absolutely nowhere. At this point, Sayla had quickly but quietly shifted leftward to the other side of her stack of crates to keep up with the visuals, though she had regretted doing so immediately after. It had only taken one mighty swipe from the Wampa’s claw, paired with a thunderous roar, to tear through the Tauntaun’s bared throat, sending flesh and blood spraying. The animal was dead before it hit the ground, though its assailant had not paused to feast. That crate had held two more targets, more prey for the raging Wampa, and it wasted no time hunting them down. Sayla instantly spotted one Tauntaun heading toward the wall with the control room above, its occupants standing and watching as though nothing were unusual. The other Tauntaun was heading straight for Calvyn’s crate. Sayla’s eyes went back to the Wampa, watching it choose its next victim in a heartbeat. Neither the Wampa nor the individuals within the control room had seemed to acknowledge the two intruders, though that could change in moments.

Hey guy's, I'm just wanting to apoligize for the sudden absence. I honestly didn't mean to bail on y'all like that. That being said I'm now gonna post and if you guys still want to continue, then please do so. Again, sorry.

It didn't take long for things to escalate out of control. As Cal knelt behind a crate, opposite Sayla and looking at his partner, he couldn't help but shake his head. The doors closed behind him, Tauntaun's were released and the Wampa was on the prowl. Everything seemed to be going wrong so fast Calvyn was fighting for a plan; anything to regain control of the situation. Closing his eye's the Knight delved deep within the force, letting it wash over his body. He could sense the taint of the Dark side, now stronger than before and growing darker. A field of dark energy seemed to seep off of the massive Wampa. However Cal could also feel a much stronger presence in the control room, as well as two other signatures nearby. Suddenly a Tauntaun ran right by Calvyn and brought him back to his grim looking reality. The creature ran directly past Calvyn, but because of Cal's position the Wampa could not see him....yet. He could still sense the Wampa slowly start to stalk towards his crate though.

His heart started to pound in his chest as he made eye contact with Sayla. Instantly his experienced mind made a bold (Or foolish) plan. Calvyn and Sayla were outnumbered, this was true, but to the best of Cal's knowledge they still had the element of surprise. The giant Wampa was still slowly walking towards Cal's postion which gave him little time to explain to Sayla. "Stay hidden, strike only when necessary, remain calm." Cal spoke telepathically to his Jedi partner, in a hurry to say what he had to say before it was to late. Then the Jedi Knight reached for his black hood and hung it low over his face, an obvious effort to hide his identity, then he spun around and out of cover. His black robes twirled as he spun out and into the open. As he spun he telepathically called his Lightsaber to his right hand and turned it on with an all to familiar hmmm sound. His grey light a beacon of uncertainty in a room full of black hearted monsters.

He stood not ten feet from the giant Wampa, whom looked much bigger up close, it's white fur coated in red blood from the recently slain Tauntaun. The two stood there for mere moments, man and beast having a silent stare down. That is until the creature let out a violent roar and charged forward towards Calvyn; It's claws extended wide and open. Cal charged as well, but no sound left his lips, his focus was intact and clear. As the monster was within striking distance, which it reached before Cal, the Wampa seemed to try and tackle Cal. Using it's massive arms as a deterrent to pin Cal under its massive weight. The Jedi instantly reacted and tucked himself into a smooth slide, Immediately to the right of the Wampa's left leg, his saber extended to Cal's left side. The grey light cut into the Wampa's leg which made the creature howl. Rising to his feet as fast as he could Cal spun again, but this time he sent the crate that he had moments earlier been hiding behind, at the Wampa.

It took a thought to send the crate flying directly at the Wampa, crashing into the beast and pinning it against the metallic wall behind him. A short time passed and Calvyn thought he had the creature beat. That is until he heard yet another roar, looking behind him Cal could see the beast rise yet again. The crate now in the Wampa's hands and using brute force the monster threw it back at Cal. Ducking low underneath Calvyn felt the air from the force of the crate breath across his face. Regaining his balance Calvyn charged the creature yet again, this time he roared with the Wampa and the two would clash in a fight to the death.

His thoughts drifted to Sayla, wondering what the Pantoran would have done by now.
