Vergil was a little nervous at his first official assignment with the order. He and another padawan had been assigned to investigate the rediscovered remains of the legendary Skywalker Academy on Ossus. The fact that he’d been chosen for such a major mission made him ecstatic. The navicomputer chirped, snapping him out of his imagination, and giving him a warning that they were approaching the system. Vergil looked over the console and began hitting the appropriate switches to ease them out of the extra dimensional space. Without taking his eyes off of the console he hit the switch to the PA, “Hey Nos’ahru, it seems we’re getting close. Do you mind getting all of the supplies together?”

Vergil hadn’t had too much interaction yet with his co-pilot, but he was sure that would change shortly once they had landed. The stories that he’d heard of Ossus were not good. Vergil had looked up as much as he could about Ossus before him and Nos’ahru departed. It was the subject of a successful experiment by the Jedi and Yuuzhan Vong to terraform the planet. It appeared that the early Sith had begun tampering with the terraforming, but outside of the official documentation, Vergil couldn’t find much details on the tampering. If it was anything like the Yuuzhan Vong weapons of the past, then it would be very dangerous for the Padawan’s.

As such, Vergil was wearing his armor under his robes. His lightsaber gently leaned up against his leg. In his room, he’d packed his survival bag that he’d normally carried with him just in case. But until they could determine whether or not the planet was safe they’d need special survival gear. Not to mention that they’d probably need special climbing gear to be able to reach some of the collapsed sections. Some historical documents indicated that the Sith had slagged several parts of the temple in attempts to eradicate the Jedi. So there was no telling what terrain they would find once they were inside.

With the final chirp, Vergil slid the ship out of hyperspace above the forest planet. After a moment, as the auto-pilot went active, Vergil began checking the scopes in case there was danger in system. Vergil tensed as the sensors picked up something a few kilometers from the temple. The long-range scanners on this crate weren’t that could, but Vergil suspected that this wasn’t a good sign and that the pair could expect trouble.

“Nos’ahru, it appears that we may run into trouble when we get down there. I’m seeing another ship, but I can’t get a reading on its IFF.” Vergil announced, “So you might want to get yourself ready in case we run into pirates or something.”

Vergil got up, content that the ship would be dutiful in landing in the spot he’d designated some ways opposite of the unknown craft. It would give them a chance to sneak up on anyone in the temple. Vergil got up and headed into the back to grab his pack and be ready to go once the ship had touched down. The tingling in his stomach was growing as the excitement of the mission increased.
