The ruins of the Jedi Academy are the shell of a Jedi temple on the surface of Tython. The Academy was once the main location for Jedi training before, during, and shortly after the Hundred-Year Darkness.


History

The Jedi Academy was once the primary Jedi Temple of the Jedi Order in the days leading up to and during the early half of the Hundred-Year Darkness. However, during the Battle of Tython, it was abandoned and overrun by dark side abominations unleashed by the Jedi Exiles. It remained this way for many decades until the shadow war between the Jedi Exiles and the Jedi Order.

In 6898 BBY, a small strike team of Jedi, led by Jedi Master Imani Sage, successfully landed on Tython and, during the Second Battle of Tython, reclaimed Tython as the heart of the Order and, more specifically, reclaimed the temple. Attacks on Ossus and Jedha by the fledgling Sith Order forced the Jedi to relocate to their newly won temple, making it temporarily the new headquarters of the Order. However, after newly-elected Jedi Grand Master Wyck secured a temple in the planet's southern regions, the headquarters of the Jedi Order was moved and the temple on Talss (Tython's northern continent) was reorganized into the Jedi Academy.


Description

The Jedi Academy was a two story temple that sat deep within Tython's mountainous northern region. On the outside, it was composed of three equidistant cupolas surrounding a large central one, and two open air hangar bays. A large promenade, surrounded by various training grounds, were spread out in front of and around the Academy's exterior. Jedi Younglings were once a common sight in the courtyards of the Academy, along with patrols of Jedi Temple Guards, and, occasionally, Jedi Knights, who made use of the courtyards' training droids to spar and train on their off-time.

The interior of the Academy mostly composed of classrooms, lecture halls, and, at its very top, a meeting place that could be used either by the Masters who maintained the Academy, or any of the Jedi Councils. It was also where most of the Jedi on Tython chose to stay, as it contained apartments, meditation gardens, and research halls for a Jedi who wanted a more relaxed existence than the busy life at the Order's main headquarters. On the second floor was a library which had formerly housed the Jedi Archives. This library was far less complete than the Archives, but was still fairly comprehensive for most Jedi needs.

In its current state the academy isn't much more than worn down stone walls and dilapidated ruins. The main building still manages to stand, and its library could still contain knowledge for those willing to seek it.
