Welcome to the post Time-skip Jedi Order! You might look around and notice some things have changed. First, you should review the new ranking system and the roster. There have been some important changes made. We are no longer the Jedi Army but the Jedi Order. The Jedi Army is the military arm of the re-founded Jedi Order. You will notice there is no more “Jedi Lord.” The Grandmaster is the head of the Jedi Council and first among equals. The faction leader is the Grandmaster. Anileen Draay (@Wit) is the acting Grandmaster.

The Jedi Council has been restored. The Council is responsible for governing the entire Jedi Order and Jedi Space. The Council oversees all militarily, diplomatic, and humanitarian efforts of the Order. The Jedi Generals and Jedi Masters report directly to the Council. There are 4 members of the Jedi Council. The Grandmaster, and the three highest ranking Jedi. A seat on the Council is not predicated on age or length of service. Rather, it is determined by the Jedi’s contributions to the faction. This is not based solely on war time efforts. There are many ways to be a “good” Jedi. The 3 assistant faction leaders serve as the members of the Council. The current Council is Grandmaster Draay (@Wit ), General Valen Pelora (@Valen Pelora), Master Logan Ferrox (@Relent), and General Lanna Singh (@Zenya).

The Jedi Generals are in charge of handling the military operations of the Jedi. Specifically, they deal with leading the Jedi Army. Again, the Jedi Army is the military arm of the reborn Jedi Order. The Jedi Masters handle the duties more traditional considered part of the Jedi Order. The roles of Jedi Knights and Initiates largely remain unchanged. Jedi Knights and Initiates are free to pursue the path that best suits their personality and skills. The Jedi Master rank is now reserved for NPCs and Council Members. Jedi General is the equivalent of Jedi Master. All current PCs with the Jedi Master rank have been moved to Jedi General. The reason for this is, those characters are all likely involved in the war in some way. They may go by Master unofficially and still be referred to as Master so-and-so, but officially they are ranked as Generals.


Philosophy of the Jedi: For the past 5 years the Jedi have been responsible for a great deal. They have expanded and become leaders of what remained of the Republic. With the destruction of the Jedi Order on Tython, the Army was all that remained of the Jedi. The Jedi Army absorbed those members of the Jedi Order who were not present when Tython was destroyed. As time moved on the Army evolved and became reborn as the Jedi Order. The Jedi Army is still incorporated as the military focused arm of the faction. The Jedi are no longer a single minded entity. There are, of course, a large number of Jedi who lead the forces of good against the Sith. There are just as many who practice the healing arts, act as diplomats, and help govern the Jedi’s growing territory. All manner of Jedi fit within the faction. One thing is for certain, they are all dedicated to the defeat of the Sith and serving the Lightside of the Force. There is no “inaction” from these Jedi. Look out for a memo from @Zenya on current Jedi philosophy.

Faction Tech: Please make sure to see the updated faction tech and faction tech rules. We have a new “Star Defender” and specialized armor. We highly suggest wearing the faction armor. The cliff notes version is as follows: No more crazy armored force users.

New Temple: The Jedi headquarters is now the Temple of the Whills. Please see the detailed write up in the Jedi Temples information section

Mission packs: There will be a variety of Mission packs coming in the next few days. Stay tuned! Things are about to get real.

Private OOC: Please make sure to join the faction's private OOC (Jedi Temple) and we will approve you as soon as we can.

Activity Check: Finally, we are performing an activity check. All members of the faction have 2 weeks to post in this thread or they will be removed from the roster. IF YOU DO NOT POST BELOW WITH YOUR CHARACTER NAME AND LINK TO THE PROFILE YOU WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE ROSTER.

does "the army" have a defined membership? or is it just an arm like an arm of a political movement? (i.e. was there a moment at which a load of Jedi resigned from the army to be mere order members? if so, why?)

The "Army" does not have a separate roster or anything like that. A character is free to indicate they are a member of the Jedi Order and actively involved in the the Army of the Light. You can be a member of the Order but not a member of the Army. If you are a member of the Army you are a member of the Order. A Jedi who doesn't actively participate in the actives of the Army of the Light can still go off and fight Sith.

Thanks, I get the OOC format, just IC its not super clear to me (may just be me being dense) how the army became the order but now the army is a part of the order - did they become the order and then create an army within itself?

pre-timeskip there was a distinction between the order and the army. the army wanted to press for war, the order did not. the order was managed by an NPC council that was stationed on tython, where many of the non-warhawk jedi were also. then tython got bamboozled and went kerplode.

so the army was all that was really left of the jedi in any sense, most of the "order" was destroyed on tython. so the army reformed itself over the timeskip and now simply calls itself the order, as there is no clear distinction between the two anymore. the jedi order proper is now war-centric, because it is being led by the remnants of the old army of light.

so there is still a "jedi army" but it is now simply a branch of the order as a whole. there is no clear cut distinction between the two anymore, we are simply the jedi order now.
