Oh... Well, any outcome will be bad, hope it doesn't affect much people, or poison too much sealife

If it's as low as nhk news ( aka state run, and known for understating) then if it comes to clouds that would hit us here in the pacific north west, the radiation may not be too bad....

though going by Kyodo news, and TBS, and even Al Jazzera it's nastier than Japan is really admitting to cover it's ass ( which again japan has a long history of doing)

so it's a wait and see.

Hope it doesn't end up like Chernobyl or something as that, one would think that Japan would be ready anytime for something like this (Like with Chile and earthquakes, but then again...)

I'm hearing 3 mile island like, to nothing more than a day of x-rays. so at worst I keep the kids inside a few days, at best my grass gets alittle burned.

scarry part is actually that Japan IS the most advanced and prepared in the world for these things...and just proves to the note that when nature says " FU" you sorta just bite the pillow and take it like a pro.

though Seattle will be ****ed when it gets it's big one in the next 100 years simply because it refuses to really invest in tearing down the old red brick buildings all over the place, and the cascadian subduction zone is set up just like the ones off japan or chilie, and can belt out he 9+ ones when it's ready.

lol.. na " experts" say it's not at a level humans should not be able to handle

but then again this is coming from the conference with Edano and I still think most of it is sugar coated... don't blame hi, but it's a long standing habit in japan to over sugar coat things, or ignore it...and you know there are times you really should not so I'm still waiting to see things from the other japanese news channels NOT edited by the government to be more " friendly"

and the BIGGEST of the three separate quakes was officially updated to a 9.0 with the data now collected

Well, then I got nothing to worry about BBQing tomorow outside and letting the dog outside. Radioactive tri-tip anyone? Either way, I'll be prepared when this arrives in the next few weeks.

On another note, glad your Roshi-sama is doing fine, Adena. Hopefully your friends and family over there are doing fine aswell.

I smiled at the suit

Sometimes im glad im down here far away from any nuclear reactor or things like that, but then again sooner or later an earthquake or a Tsunami is going to hit here, and hell, not even my corpse will remain after it ends

Powerful shots, it really shows the true destruction mother nature can unleash.

That's crazy. At least 80% of the buildings in the 'before' pictures are either flooded or destroyed in the 'after' pictures.

My idiot friend who I don't really talk to is convinced this is the result of a massive conspiracy by the US using HAARP to cause the Earthquake to distract the world from North Africa and the 'massive unrest in the southern states'.

I read that the meltdown was worse than Chernobyl.

the meltdowns are actually no worse radiation wise than spending an hour or two in orbit.

However there are two different terms to " meltdown.. the one WE think of with the cloud of irradiated death

the second is the tech side meaning that the cores and generators are melted down and unable to be repaired making the plant completely a loss and unable to be used.

one way the evacuation rings have shrunk and levels are in acceptable ranges now already.

though there is a Volcano going now or at least they are worried will.... It has been giving signs to erupt past month or so

in the south

But Im bouncing between NHK, Kyodo, and TBS and have not seen anything on it so I doubt there is anything going there.

Ouch, seems like Japan is in pretty bad shape and getting worse it seems. How many days has this been going on for?

Today on the news they said that the plant would essentially have to "Go Chernobyl" to have any major effect the United States.

Also, I am wondering if the cold temperatures will help? I have no idea how temperature affects radioactive materials.

the volcano has been having small eruptions over the last month or so. .and it's not that uncommon, and blew it's top finally this evening " their time" nobody was really hurt as they were getting that island cleared for a while now, as they expected a full eruption because of a magma buildup in the dome but the timing is just impeccable... so I guess the question thats being looked into is if the quake to the north may have transferred enough energy or shifted pressure to sorta " speed it up" or if it was just ironic timing.
