I stopped midstep at his question, my hand bracing myself against the door frame as I turned back and looked at him. A fire was burning bright in my eyes. "All I know is were I in your shoes, I would not rest until all responsible were made to pay for their actions. Even if it meant my life, I would die knowing that my death was for something."

He listened to her words but the meaning behind them, the meaning for her was lost on him. "I do what we all must, survive. When I can find means I will Stand, when I have stood against what they can rail..." His eyes sparkled in the dim light of his room "Then I will Hunt. I will be what they have named me, Manticore. A creature that time itself cannot dim, that the weapons of mortal men cannot harm... " He swayed as he sat, his eyes rolling up into his head, a glow from his mark lit him up inside and he spoke but only softly, whispered as if from a thousand miles away "Loe when the Primal Beast did find wings he soared. His shadow cast upon the ground did bring fear to those who once hunted him... They did hide in the furrowed lands and quake, knowing... what it was.... to be h-hunted." The glow faded and he slumped to the side, snoring.

As his eyes sparkled and he began speaking of the beast he called himself, I shuddered in fear. The effect was eerie, but not as eerie as seeing the strange trance his body went into, his voice coming out of him like something from another world. I swallowed hard as I backed from the room, afraid to be close to him, to whatever I saw before me. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up as he continued to speak of this strange "Manticore".

I could not take it any longer. Once he slumped to the side, I was out of there, heading as quickly as I dared back to the cockpit. I had almost thought he was nothing more than a man. I was wrong...

Enyhk, the man that never truly sleeps unless wounded slept like a log. His snores echoing along the hallway. He'd fallen unconscious as he sat there so... well it looked painful the way he was sleeping. Not that sleeping in a metal cell was comfortable to begin with. Regardless he slept and time passed.

Trying to shake the image of Enyhk's strange trance from my mind, I busied myself with checking the ship's systems, doing so more thoroughly than protocol really demanded. Still, I was somewhat relieved that the ship did not seem to be suffering any major problems. It seemed the cell Enyhk was staying in was indeed shielded in some manner.

Keeping a vigil in the cockpit, I stared out over the controls for a while before that became too boring. Reaching for my satchel, I pulled out my datapad and began going through some of the knowledge I had stored on it, brushing up on my skills. Even that got old after a while. I felt a numbness begin to wash over me as the sounds around me seemed to fade. I was crashing again...
