It was almost a week since the Kashyyyk debacle and his subsequent address to ISC space. Patriotism ran strong within his borders and the public was more loyal than ever. He knew he was taking slow steps towards ensuring his people would believe in him no matter what. He operated slow and steady, but effectively. The ISC had grown exponentially since its conception and continued to thrive with a booming economy. The addition of the Core worlds provided a massive boost in trade and resources which took ISC closer to becoming almost entirely self-sustained without heavily relying on foreign trade. Other governments depended on ISC more than ISC depended on them.
The President was once again behind a podium with ISC flags behind him, this time the broadcast going out to all regions of the galaxy. The half Sephi appeared as stoic as ever, but his message was far more positive than the last time he stood behind the podium.
“Citizens of the ISC,” He began, “For a few years now, the Consortium has been engaged in a vicious and bloody war with the Five Syndicates. There have been losses on both sides, loss of innocent lives, loss of great servicepeople that will forever be remembered. There have been losses in Syndicate space, losses of families and homes. The Syndicates have surrendered swaths of their territory to the Consortium in this conflict.”
“Today, I am pleased to announce that the war is now over,” There would be thunderous cheering and applause all across ISC space, “Thanks to the efforts of our Secretary of Defense, a peace treaty has been negotiated and signed. Henceforth, the Consortium is no longer in active conflict with any organized, foreign entities.”
Emryc gazed at the camera, “It is my duty as President to ensure the people of the ISC always feel safe and secure. To that end, whenever possible, peaceful resolution will always be the priority pursuit. I am thrilled we have achieved this monumental outcome. As a result, today will be declared a holiday as we celebrate the end of a war and the beginning of peace and prosperity.”
“As always, I am Emryc Thorne, a man of the people. It is my duty to protect my citizens, and I will continue to act only in your best interests.”
