Do you hate debating? I really do. There are so many stupid people just spouting off random things, and there's no real way to edit what you want to say, and while you're thinking about your rebuttal people say more stupid things. All in all, it's very disorganized and very confusing.

Debating online is much much better, IMO. And I said debating, not flaming or arguing like on Youtube. Debating usually implies a sense of order and maturity.

Unless you bring a laptop with you to a debate, you can't fact check either.

It's much easier in real life.

You can tell people, if needs be, just how much of a ****ing idiot they are and not get banned.

Or walk away.

That's much more satisfying. But the ability to have decent debates is decreased by people's stupidity, yes.

I don't really debate in real life. I rarely talk politics with others. I have quite a few Republican and conservative friends, so it's not a thing often discussed in real life.

In real life you can punch people...but you are also not anonymous....it a trade off. Though I hate debating in general now.

I like debating in real life probably more than I do on the internet only because the knowledge you have is solely what you know. When people are on the internet and they're confronted with something they don't know, they run real quick to Wikipedia to make it look like they know what they're talking about.

They could also make it look like they know what they're talking about even without access to real facts as long as they're good at lying. I personally like the fact that you can run to wikipedia to find stuff out as you can learn new things that you otherwise might not have known.

In real life, I debate occasionally. Usually, most people don't state things that I disagree with when I feel like disagreeing. Though I generally enjoy debating as it does cause some learning as well as causing new ideas to come into existence.

You know, I never really noticed it before. Other people have really long posts, some of them kinda boring, but Cailst's have this supernatural ability to be really really boring. I don't understand it at all. His posts don't seem any different than the next, but upon further inspection they just kind of atrophy your mind....

No offense meant, of course. Really, none.

Anyways, yeah I like the fact-checking ability the internet provides. RL debates lack them.

Hopefully, with training, I can bring up Fynar to be just as boring if not more boring. Then we can engage in bore competitions where we compete to see who can bore each other to sleep faster.

I was actually laughing a bit reading through your post. Especially when you mentioned my brain atrophying powers.

Cailst's more concerned with facts than opinions (although some are dubious) which some find boring.

You two are too similar for words.

At one point I thought Cailst had just changed his screen name to Fynar.....

Don't worry, Fynar is a rather different person and has some different opinions. And sometimes, even I can't understand him.

I rely on debates on the internet to fuel facts irl. Without a debate on the internet, which is far more challenging to win, it would be more difficult IRL. I know I can use a number of superior arguments to that of the common one.

I enjoy debating both online and irl. People can be stupid or aggressive and that's always frustrating, but a patient and civil debate is one of the best ways for at least moderately intelligent people to learn from each other.

I am shy and dont like to speak in front of an audience, so during debates I just shut my mouth.

I like talking to an audience more than debating actually. I've never talked to a massive audience most for me was like fifty people.

When I was in Grade 8 my speech won the public speaking contest for my class, so I got to give my speech to the whole school (audience of about 300). I was a bit nervous but had fun.

I think I like about speeches in front of people is when you have everybody's attention and they are all directly staring at you.

I usualy try to avoid debating unless it's a topic I am intrested in. As my sig says, I hate and do not support religious or political debates, online or in real life. No one wins them and they all eventualy erupt in a fight.
