The call came in an emergency transmission intercepted by the Shadows before the Grand Master gained access to the message. It was worrisome as Grand Master Daw listened to the plea for help, a trusted Jedi sympathizer by the name of Harris Crolley was arrested under the charges of fraud. Though the Grand Master knew the Order fell under a false name, the records remained private, supplies running along a supply line in which the paper and physical trails would get lost, safely arriving and aiding the Jedi where they needed it. Mr. Crolley was also at the top, his name was becoming more common to the businesses in the systems, which also meant he would have more rivals.
The Council discussed what they believed they needed to do, their goal was to clear Mr. Crolley's name and to get the charges dropped against him. However, this also would mean this would reveal Jedi presence, and as the Council knew, word would travel and the Sith would soon know. The Shadows would be alerted as the Jedi would launch their own investigation on Bespin. The Council consulted on who to send before the name of Cross Vhanler was mentioned. The padawan was nearing the end of his training and the suggestion was made to send him to investigate. After deliberation, Cross was contacted by the Grand Master:
"Padawan Vhanler, we have a situation on Bespin. A trusted Jedi ally by the name of Harris Crolley has been arrested. He has been accused of fraud, to which we do not believe this is the case. We fear that someone has learned that Mr. Crolley has been aiding the Order, in which he has been, and like much of the population within the galaxy, there is still a distaste for those in the Order.
The Jedi Council would like you to travel to Bespin and talk with Mr. Crolley's lawyer, learn what he knows so far and then contact Bespin's local authorities and learn what they know also. The Jedi reputation is still in repair, do not make any brash decisions, look at all the consequences of any action you take. If you make a mistake, confess. If you are unsure about a decision, then let the Jedi Council know.
This mission is valuable, the Council will be watching how you conduct yourself. Be safe Cross Vhanler, and may the Force be with you!"
